  1. Well it can be done w/ arm motions I can get my mom's tread mill over here , that might be a better idea. As for Gordon , I dont like Jr's move to Hendrix, I was all prepared for him to go to Childress. I dont like Gordon , Wont root for him cant make me . :rolleyes:mad: I dont like Johnson either. I respect the move he made as a buisness choice. I have watched Nascar all my life. My girlfriends and I go to the races every yr as a " Girls friends get away " and I cant WAIT To get skinny again . We leave the men at home and pant over the drivers . LOL Its a hoot. So i wont like it next yr w/ Jr as a Hendrix team mate but i'll stick w/ him . LOL Sorry im off my soap box. Mindy
  2. Does anyone have a Gazelle ? You know one of those machines ? I live in Texas, and Its hot and humid , i get migraines from being out in the heat too much . So I was thinking about "walking" on my Gazelle post op . My doc said a treadmill was ok . Im wondering if a Gazelle would be too ? Anyone know ? Thanks Mindy
  3. If it makes you feel any better Im drinking the shakes for Breakfast and usually for lunch , just because i dont eat breakfast and lunch much and its hard for me to choke them down . I usually just chug them . I know its not good practice for surgery . but its all i can do to get them down, if i dont im STARVIN MARVIN by noon . I have been drinking Instant Breakfast some in the morning too. Can you have that . That breaks things up SOME . but not much lol Mindy
  4. Im sorry your having problems , I cant remeber if you said or not , will he go to counseling ? Sounds like it might be a good idea for ya'll. I hope things work out. Maybe once he see's that you wont go anywhere he'll come around. Mindy
  5. OH my personality has changed totally . I see it , my husband see's it so do my friends . Im normally a very outgoing , extraverted person. I am still some what outgoing but not like when im thin . For the past 6 yrs I have not wanted to do many things out i public, I have to commit myself to do things w/ friends in order to even get out of the house . I dont do things w/ my husband and kids as a family usually w/ out a fight w/ hubby . The past few yrs have been better. I DREAD going places that I MIGHT run into someone i know from high school or who I havent seen in yrs because they might see my fat. Im not as happy as I was before. I am not as friendly as I was before and not as outgoing . I use to be the "life of the party " the one everyone wanted to be around, the one everyone called when they went out ( Not tyring to be arragont) im just not that person anymore. I know and so does everyone else. Hubby says he wants that person back , so do I . I have lost my sense of myself and my sense of humor along the way . Mindy
  6. I plan on walking at first , Then when i can exersise post op i plan on yoga Mindy
  7. WAIT A MINTUE No one said anything about looking pregnant after surgery !!! LMAO My hubby was fixed a few months ago . Against his wishes he was done LOL . Great I dont want to look pregnant again . OH Well I'll deal w/ it to eventually be skinny again :faint::faint::faint::faint::faint: Mindy
  8. Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. WOW I Dont know if can keep up w/ this thread lol. I thought it only had 7 pages on it for some reason lol I look forward to chatting w/ everyone. Mindy
  9. I totally agree w/ you aubrie, My husband is a "Big strong red neck" kind of a guy. Doesnt and hasnt ever been one to talk about things. Just as an example his mom died 2 yrs ago on HIS Birthday . He cried when he found out and at her funeral that was IT , someone said something to him about not talking about her much , his response was ' Why should I talk about "IT" its done and over w/ its in the past " When I told him about my surgery he didnt say much either. He told me if that's what i wanted to do . The ONLY Thing he has ever said to me about my weight (I was 130ish pds when we met) was if your not happy w/ how you look do something about it or stop complaining " Then one day we got into a huge fight about him not caring about my surgery. he comes in and slaps down a folder. It was FULL of papers he printed out off line ( he's not the most computer literate person either) of lap band info . Turns out he had been researching lap band for several months with out me knowing about it . And one of our customers wants the surgery so he had been talking to him about it also . Men are so weird. they do strange things.LOL I do see how ( and Im not excluding myself from this yet either) couples can encounter some serious probelms post op if they do not communicate . Also if there are ANY kind of trust issues I see the potiential for some issues as well Look forward to talking to ya'll Mindy
  10. Hi everyone, I sort of introduced myself on the pre op thread but thought I would here as well. My name is Mindy , Im being banded on July 16 in San Antonio Tx But Jorge Rincon MD . Im self pay its costing me $12,000 which includes all fills for a yr. I love my doc he's amazing. I cant belive this is almost here. I have been waiting for nearly 2 yrs for the money to get this done. My husband and I own our own concrete company so we have private health insurance , so self pay was always the only way for us. It would have happened before now but we had an employee ( Cousin actually too) who decided to steal $50,000 from us Feb , JUST the time i was prepared to get my surgery ! So that put the surgery off . I find out the Friday after surgery if he was indicted for embezzlement or not , so that will be a nice present LOL Anyway ..... I am just outside Austin tx Married 7 yrs and have 2 boys, ages 6 and almost 15 ,(He turns 15 the day before my surgery ) . That's all about me look forward to keeping up w/ everyone. Love Mindy

  12. Can I Join ? LOL Hi I just found this thread. I am going to be banded on 7-16. I started my pre op diet on Monday . Its high protein low carb . I really dont know how ya'll are doing it on liquids because I feel like im starving . Espically at night . Around 8 pm on I become REALLY hungry ! So im trucking along . I did cheat last night I had a small piece of pizza . But other than that ive followed the diet. Anyway , Just wanted to say Hi . Mindy
  13. Im curious how many of ya'll who are having problems w/ husbands were thin when ya'll met your husbands ??? I only ask wondering myself... I was 130-140 pds when I met my husband . He knows my personality when I was thin, in fact he has said before he wants that personality back , He see's im not the same person, not happy over wt. So he kind of knows what to expect of me thin. So i was wondering if any of ya'll who are having problems now , were thin previously when you met your husbands and you are still having problems now . Or if this is a case of this truely is a new you and they just didnt know what hit them sort of speak . IF that makes any sense ? Thanks Mindy
  14. My dietitian appt was much the same as the above. We went over the pre op diet and post op diet. We went over some changes im allowed to make because of the possibility of migraines post op for me . i have chronic migraines, any change in my routine or system usually throws me into some bad ones. So they are allowing me to add things like protein shakes the first week if i need them . Im going to try not to . My psych e vale was pretty goofy if you ask me lol. My counselor talked more than I did . I filled out the questionnaire that was basically the same 40 questions asked 40 different ways of 160 questions. He asked me " are you an emotional eater " DAH So is 99% of the over wt population " is what i thought. He told me " Your really going to have to watch that w/ the band " It was kind of a joke more of an opportunity to drum up business post op for himself than anything. I told him I would be seeing someone but not him , someone closer to my home in Austin LOL He told me he would approve me so thats all I cared about . Good luck on yours, you will be fine . Love Mindy
  15. I see your in Texas. There is a yahoo group called Central Texas Bandsters. CenTexBandsters : CenTex (Austin Metro) Bandsters You might want to look on yahoo there might be one more in your area . This is more for Austin and the surrounding areas Actually just looking really quick , i know its not real close but here is a Galveston area . Galveston-Alvin-WLS-support-group : Galveston area WLS support group Thought I might give you some ideas. They I know the cen texas group meets one on one . Im in Austin feel free to PM Me HTH Mindy
  16. I have not read all the responses so forgive me if you have answered this ... Was this a support group that your doctor sent you to ? Im assuming yes . I would think either way if your doc did or did not send you to this particular support group that you could A ask your doc if he can send you to a more lap band friendly group , maybe thru another doctor that does more lap bands ? Or B find try to find one on your own. Maybe thru some networking on here. See if someone would mind if you attended theirs. I think its great if "banders and Bypassers" can have support group meetings together , but I dont think its right if either group is going to "bash" the other one or say one is right or wrong . Everyone has their own reasons why they had their particular surgery . For me personally , Bypass was never an option for me. From the the first time i heard of bypass it was just not something I ever pictured myself every doing and being successful at. When i first heard about lapband I thought " Hummm not having to totally re arrange your insides permantly appealed to me off the bat. The more i checked into it , the more I realized it WAS something I COULD do and succeed at . I think you have nothing to be ashamed of or made to feel bad about. You should own your choice . I own mine and I will debate it w/ anyone who comes along . Bypass patient or not. Just as people who have had bypass i am sure come under fire they should understand why you should not have to justifiy your choice to other WLS patients. that group does not sound like a Healthy group for you to be in . I have not once doubted by choice. ( Ask me after July 16th lol when i have the surgery ) but I dont think i will. Im the kind once i make up my mind that's it , i dont turn back and I own that choice. HTH Good luck . Love Mindy
  17. I think if its the " Obvious " medical ID type your probably ok wearing it on your Right arm . if its more of the jewelry type I would wear it on the Left . Just my opinion . Mindy
  18. Im not real happy about the insurance thing . I have to have the Texas High Risk Health Pool . its for people who are "uninsurable" in Texas. I cant get private health insurance. So they know im stuck w/ them . The Neti Pot isnt that bad once you learn how to use it. It really does work . Mindy
  19. I knew I wasnt crazy lol I have heard it from other people as well but i read it on the Laurens Hope Website Lauren's Hope - Medical ID Bracelets, Medical ID Watches, Mothers Bracelets, and 14k Gold Bracelets HTH Mindy
  20. This is something I have gone back and forth w/ over time . At first I was not going to tell people and only going to tell people who I knew were going to be supportive. Then I told them and I was surprised that some of them were not as suportive as i thought they would be . As my surgery got closer , or looked like it would happen some people like my mom and dad have come around in their own ways. Now frankly i really dont care. I dont care if people dont like it . I explain to them the reason why im having the surgery , i try to explain or educate them on the surgery but that's all i can do . I cant control how they feel about it. But its up to everyone individually . I personally have never been one to care what anyone thinks about me . Good luck on everything and dont let anyone get you down. Love Mindy
  21. lmao there ya go . I like the 50 lbs deal . It is a very nice one. My neighbor has one . Its JUST noticeable that you stop and say " Hey what is that " . I like it alot . MY bday is in september , maybe i'll get it then . Mindy
  22. Everything I have heard and read from others says they " normally" do . I spoke to a friend of mine who is a nurse tonight and she said the one's that are not Obvious , meaning they have the very small charms or not as large of a medical sympols on them are the ones that get missed. I think your suppose to wear them on your Left arm as well ? That helps too. I think the one's like Laurens hope w/ the big red cross on them are obvious ENOUGH ., I didnt want to get one that looks like obvious jewlery . If that makes sense. Mindy
  23. This is the one I want Physician/E.M.T. Alert on Giotto Bracelet from James Avery But w/ surgery costs coming up and ect.... Im going to wait a bit before i get this one. All of my silver jewlery is James Avery so I really want this one. But for now i'll stick w/ the Laurens Hope One . Mindy
  24. I wondered about that . I got a plain black band w/ a silver thing in the middle. So its not " too Flashy" . The one I really want is from James Avery Craftsman here in Austin . But its kind of expensive. Its obvious its a medical ID but looks a tad bit more like jewelry . I knew I didnt want a totally beaded one because I didnt want it to NOT look like a medical ID . I think i'll keep this one until i loose weight then get the one from James Avery . I just dont want it to be missed which is why i didint get the totally beaded ones. Mindy
  25. LMAO Its really not bad . It doesnt hurt. The first few times I did it I made a HUGE mess. But when I do it it DOES really cut down on the nasal drainage. I went to the doc yesterday and he put me on Flonase ( good for lapband, not having to swallow) and chewable singular . The problem is I have new insurance ( Private insurance) i have to get "Prior authorization" before they will pay for it . It could take up to 2 weeks to get the authorization back. i called my insurance and because i have " preexisting conditions" I may have to do that EVERYTIME i have RX' filled until next yr . UGHHH . So i have a pharmacy that i get my meds from for cheap , i can get the flonase for $9 more than if i insurance paid for it. So i'll wait for auhtorization on the singular . Hopefully it will work . Thanks for everyones help Mindy
