  1. Hello all, My doc told me I'm on solids now but I don't get my first fill till 6 weeks post-op(10/7/2009). My calorie in/calorie out says I should be losing,. but I seem to be stuck. I liked my weight dropping every couple of days. Maybe I should go back to the liquid diet or increase my exercise. Any suggestions ??
  2. Hi Nawlinzlady, Yes, I felt the left shoulder pain was the worst part. I walked and took my pain meds. My doctor said it was very common. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op and no pains at all. Still only at about 50% of my normal energy. I have lost 13 # since banding, so very worth it. Good Journey,

  6. Hello, I did self-pay. Much cheaper to have done in Mexico. Great hospital and doctor across the border from SanDiego. He has been doing it since 1998. Almost 2 weeks post op and very happy with the band. Found a doctor about a 100 miles from me for post-op and fills. Good Journey, MaggieGT
  7. Hello All, Wow you all are doing so great:tt1: I'm proud of us all. Go August Bandits:thumbup: Good Journey MaggieGT
  8. Hello, I am only 12 days post-op, so I haven't had my first fill. I have an appointment for Oct 7 in Norman with Dr Keith. I emailed the docs in Tulsa, OKC, Lawton etc.. Dr. Keith office was the most welcoming, friendly and supportive. I'll post after my first fill and let you know how it was. Good Journey, MaggieGT
  9. Hi Inspiremeslim, I got the bodybugg about a week before banding. I love it because I was keeping track of what I ate and my workouts in a spreadsheet. It worked ok except I had to look up calories on each food and guess which cal/hour I was burning with each activity. :wink2: The bodybugg makes it sooo :sneaky: much easier. I just wear the armband and download it every night. My calories burned is taken care of. I log in my food(actually drinks at this point). Most are in their database. They have not only calories but also the nutrition info. You can look at a month of calories burned, calories consumed, balance of Protein, carbs, fat,etc... Good Journey,
  10. Hi Nawlinzlady, I'm 9 days post-op and weighting every morning as soon as I get up. Then I update my weight ticker and my Jillian site if my weight has changed. It is keeping me happy and motivated. I also download my bodybugg into my computer and update what I ate yesterday. I update my weight there every Tuesday. Probably a little overkill :blushing: Good Journey, Maggie
  11. Except of the shakes and Malt0meal we are eating the same. Sounds like we are both doing good MaltoMeal is same as cream of wheat but more flavor. It's warm and creamy like oatmeal but smoother. My appointment is 6 weeks postop for my first fill.
  12. Hi Realize, Thank you. I am happy about how it is going. What is in your shakes? If there is anything sweet in them, could they be stimulating your appetite? I am having Malt-o-meal for breakfast(watery 2T + 1 cup water) and liquidified (in the blender)98% fat free cream Soups for lunch and dinner. I also have drinkable yogurt,suger-free Jello, fat free/suger free fudgesicles and popsicles. I'm on this till the 11th. Tastes better than Optifast and I was on that for 9 months(ugh:crying:), 10 years ago. I have a 9.75cm/4cc Allegan Lap-Land. My first fill is scheduled for 10/7/09.
  13. Hi Realize, I am ready to eat(I mean drink:wink2:) when mealtime comes around. But I take about 30 minutes to drink it. That takes care of my hunger till the next meal. Good Journey,
  14. Hello all, I am only one week post-op. I am very happy with the band so far. I was stalled on my diet for 5 months in the 260's. Today just 7 days post-op, I'm in the 250's:lol::thumbup::mad:. If I have lost 15 pounds before my first fill, I will be ecstatic. You are doing soooo great. You should be proud!!!! Good Journey! Maggie
  15. Hi Alley74 I am having liquidfied(in my blender) cream soups for lunch and dinner. Campbell has 98% fat free cream of Mushroom, brocolli, potato, celery and chicken. It's definitely better than broth. For Breakfast I have Cream of Wheat, Malt-oMeal or chocolate MaltoMeal(I put 1 cup Water and only 2 TSP of meal, so its runnier). I also have Dannon Drinkable yogurt(no chunks). If I want a snack, I've had fat free, sugar free fudgesicle, popsicle or dreamsicle. Between meals, starting one hour after to one hour before the next meal I sip water, tea, coffee, low cal non-carbonated drinks. I'm on this till the 11th. Then I get mushies. I hope this helps. Good Journey Maggie

  17. Wow everyone is doing great:thumbup: I just did my first week weight-in since surgery. 264 starting and 260 today. Yea !!! I don't know how to add to your list. But glad to be among you. MaggieGT
  18. Hi I'm Maggie in Oklahoma, I'm engaged and have 3 children, 2 grown and one in college. I was laid off in April and have spent the time working on things I didn't have time for while working. I'm 5 days post-op and very happy with my lack of hunger and weight loss. Good Journey to all Maggie
  19. Hi August Bandits Wow your numbers are fantastic:thumbup: I'm only on day 6 post-op so I will post week 1 on Tuesday. I've been thinking 2 # per week loss max, but you all are beating that. I wanta be like you:drool: Good Journey to all. Maggie
  20. Hi Jacquie, I'm in Tulsa. Had my surgery 8/25. I'm very happy I did this. I looked at gastric bypass in 2002. Even though I was heavy I was still very healthy. I didn't like the significant risks associated with that surgery. Recently I started researching the lapband. Seemed like less of a surgery than having my tonsils out. I have been on a lot of diet/ exercise where I would lose 4 to 6 pounds per month but kept getting stopped at 20 to 30 pounds off. The latest stalled out in April this year. In the five days since my surgery I have lost 3 1/2 pounds and am not hungry between meals.:wink2: For the first time in 20 years, I believe I can be normal weight again. LIfe is good! Maggie
  21. Hi 4cc bandsters, It's great to hear of your successes. I am 5 days post-op with a 9.75 cm/4cc band. My daughter pre-op wanted me to have one of the bigger bands(10cc or 14cc). I figured the older style worked or so many wouldn't of had it. And if it takes less fills to lose the weight, all the better. But her comments made me worry a little. You all have put my mine to rest. Go bandsters!
  22. Hi SandiegoKate All went well on my surgery. Flew into SanDiego, then had Dr. Kuri band me the next day. How you doing today? MaggieGT
  23. Hello all August Bandits, I hope all are doing well on this recovery period. I am on day 4 and had Jello, apple juice, tea and Water on 2nd and 3rd day. Today I had 1 cup cream of wheat and coffee for Breakfast and a cup broth for lunch. I feel good and no desire for more than that. Drinking water in between. I start a college class in a few minutes, but it's online so no worries. :w00t: Life is good ! How's everyone doing???
  24. Hello fellow August Bandsters, I'm the 25th also. I'm very excited. I hope for easy recovery for us all! I'm glad we all can share this good journey together. Maggie
  25. Thank you for all the info. I'm getting calm about my decision to do this. I have had this weight for 20 years. Gained it with my third child. I have lost 20 to 60 pounds 10 times in that period. I am so excited to know that this time is the last time I will have to lose it:tongue:. I am going enjoy even more my next 30 years.
