  1. Think so Erin. I've been feeling a little better, just patiently waiting for the next few weeks to tick by so this morning sickness goes away lol. How are you feeling??
  2. I think Im a little confused here, how far along in your pregnancy are you? it says 2 weeks but thats not even possible since you cant detect the pregnancy hormone until at least 4 weeks (not to call you a liar, but I think Im lost lol) As far as your empty band goes, you must not put yourself in the mind frame "I can eat whatever I want" AND do exactly that, but think more like "I have the ability to eat more of a selection, however I WILL sick to my correct portions and use moderation". Every pregnant mother should be able to enjoy the cravings she has, but regardless of whether you are within a "normal" weight range or someone like us who has had weight loss surgery, you should always remember that to lead a healthy lifestyle food needs to be eaten in moderation. I actually do not agree that you need another fill, because honestly, what if within another month or two you develop the over tightness and sickness again, then you'll be right back where you started and have it emptied again. I recommend talking to your dietician and your ob, they will be a great support for you and your journey to a happy healthy pregnancy. Good luck!
  3. I had to have all of my fluid removed on Monday. I was so dehydrated and throwing up bile My stomach still feels swollen and I am still having trouble eating certain things but I would prefer to be able to eat and enjoy this time because its my last baby, and because I got the weight off twice before, I can do it again (original WL, then weight loss after band baby #1)
  4. So sorry to hear you are going through this, especially when this is a time you should be happy and excited. I think you should also consult your OB on this, as that infection could spread and you dont want to risk that sweet baby. Sending a prayer out for you
  5. You could leave the ginger ale out to flatten. I found that small sips of it (even not flat) seemed to help. It was almost like the carbonation helped settle it.
  6. So I ended up in the ER on Monday because my morning sickness was so bad that my band was so unbelieveably restricted. They gave me IV fluids and emptied my band but even after a few days later I am still struggling to eat certain foods. Could my stomach still be swollen from all of the vomiting I know they took it all out because I only had about 4.6 and I watched her take it out. Im just worried there still might be a problem. I know I need to "ease" back into eating, but knowing I could eat a breadstick or two finally really made me want to have them. Hope all you other preggo ladies are doing well. Happy Easter!
  7. I just found out I am pregnant again last Friday!!! Im due October 28th. This is baby #4 for us and band baby #2. We are so excited!! So far Im not feeling too badly, but about 11wks in my last pregnancy I had to get my band unfilled. Im hoping that this time wont be quite as bad (my gall bladder also went bad which I think was part of the problem). Just wanted to share my excitement
  8. I was banded in Feb 2010 and got pregnant with my son in November of 2010 (with my surgeons blessing. I had lost about 60lbs and my health had improved ten fold with my weight loss). Normally they say about a year, because they want you to be able to get to your goal weight and maintain, and have any other health issues you might have improve/stabilize. So I was about 8 months post op. I am almost 3 years out now and we are hoping to try for our last baby in about a month or two Then this mama can focus on getting some plastic work done
  9. I agree with one of the other posters. It sounds like your band might be a little snug right now. Dont feel stressed or anxious if you have to get some Fluid removed. I had fluid removed when I was 11 weeks pregnant because all of the sudden it felt like my band had a death grip on my stomach. I had gained a little more then anticipated but I got the majority of the weight off within about 4 weeks after having my son. Good luck!
  10. A Protein shake is ok every once in awhile but I would not rely on them for a nutritional suppliment during your pregnancy. Im not sure if your surgeon ever told you but the best type of protein to eat is solid protein. The body absorbs and digests liquid Protein differently then it does a solid protein, so you will not get 100% of the benefits as you should. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!!! I wish you a happy and healthy one!
  11. Congrats on your weight loss and your pregnancy!! We are hoping to concieve our 2nd band baby soon
  12. It is scary but as long as you keep an eye on what and how much you're eating, and when you give into your cravings you do it moderately, you'll be fine
  13. First, I want to send congrats to all of you beautiful ladies who are pregnant, and lots of baby dust to those who are currently TTC!! I havent been around on these boards for awhile, so I'll re-introduce myself. Im Heather, Im 28 and a mom to 3 beautiful kids. My oldest is 10, my middle is 4, and my band baby is now 15 months I was banded back in 2010 and Im still struggling to get close to my goal weight. I've been having some issues losing since after my son was born. Granted, I lost all but about 12lbs of the baby weight in a little over a month, which was great since I gained 52lbs, but I ended up with gall bladder issues at the end of last year and after having it removed, I gained some weight back. Anywho, my post is about me being crazy LOL. My husband and I are talking about the possibility of having a 4th and final baby, and we had set a "goal" date. We have some debts we want to get rid of but my personal goal is to try to get as close as I can to my WL goal as I can by Feb 2013 (our goal). So I am looking at about 25-30lbs to lose by Feb. I had started the Vi Salus shakes about a month ago and I was doing real well then I fell off the wagon and Im trying so hard to get back the inspiration to get back to keep going. My husband is worried that if I get my band tightened anymore I wont be able to eat. But I think I need to get back to my roots and really buckle down like a new bandster. Anywho, just wanted to share and maybe find some buddies who have the same goals as me (whether its 1st baby or 4th!) Have a great weekend!
  14. Call your doc ASAP! Vomiting can cause your band to slip and with being pregnant thats the LAST thing you want to happen. Its not uncommon to need a slight or even total unfill during pregnancy, but throwing up is never good when you're banded. Keep us posted and good luck!
  15. Congrats on your pregnancy! I had a band baby back in 2011, and he is now a 30lbs, happy healthy 15 month old boy. I want to be honest with you, because I know that is what you're looking for as well as support, that type of weight gain this early on in your pregnancy is a little much. The time where you should be gaining more weight is at the end of your 2nd trimester beginning your 3rd. I had to have most of my Fluid removed around the same time you did in my pregnancy, because I felt "stuck" every time I ate and I ended up losing 10lbs in my 1st trimester. After my band was loosened I started eating more until I found I had gained back 52lbs. There is nothing wrong with fulfilling your cravings, but do it in the same manner you would with your band. And if you excercsie regularly now, you can keep it up! I do want to say that its great that you did identify that you felt something was wrong with your band and how you felt, I do know a few people who didnt and really ended up making themselves quite sick for half of their pregnancies. Good luck to you and I wish you a happy, healthy pregnancy!!!
  16. I can totally relate to this. Although I was banded and then 8 months later became pregnant (wanted to!) and after having my son I still struggle with an extra 20lbs (from baby weight AND post gall bladder problems), so I still sit about 40+lbs away from my goal. However, I found a pair of pants the other day I used to wear, and I held them up and my husband took a picture, and I felt like Jared from the subway commericals. I looked at them and thought, "My God I could put myself in ONE leg". I use that photo as a reminder of how far I've come, not by the mirror that shows me how far I still need to go. PS, congrats to you and your loss, feel proud hun! You've done an amazing thing with your life, you've IMPROVED it!
  17. I've never had this question asked to me but you could say its used as a protein shake LMAO
  18. Thank you lollicat. Unfortunately words can be "heard" in a different tone on the Internet. I do wish you the best with both your lapband and TTC journey but right now you need to focus on YOU and getting yourself healthy so that you can have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
  19. Also OP your symptoms sound like your gall bladder. Do you still have it? I suggest if you do to get it checked. I had similar symptoms and turns out I had a big stone
  20. I'm so sorry for your loss. Your husband should not be blaming the band for the loss. That also makes it sound like he places some blame on you and that's awful :-( I hope you recover quickly and that things work out for you *hugs*
  21. It can but it's not as common as you think. Make sure if you are having severe MS to get some fluid out and get some zofran to help with the sickness. Good luck!
  22. Why would you go through getting the surgery then try to get pregnant right away? That defeates the purpose and you could do more harm then good since the first 8 weeks is based on healing and recovery alone...
  23. I was banded in Feb of 2010. I had lost 65lbs in 8 months and talked to my surgon about wanting to get pregnant. She said that my health had increased 10 fold and said that she would give me her "blessing". I removed my nuva ring and a month later on my husbands birthday (Nov 16th) I found out we were pregnant. Around 11weeks I had fluid removed because I wasn't able to tolerate foods and I had lost another 10lbs. I had 3 cc's removed and was good the remainder of my pregnancy. My son was born July 20th 2011. A few weeks later I noticed I was having trouble tolerating foods again. They thought it might just be a shift with my stomach so they took more fluid out. Since I am breastfeeding my main focus was eating enough for my baby. I lost all but 4lbs of my baby weight (45lbs). Then in Nov of 2011 I was getting to the point where I could not eat anything. I went to the ER with chest pains and pain in my stomach area, they emptied my band and ordered an ultrasound. Turns out I had an 2.8cm stone in my gall bladder. It was removed on Dec 16th. They said the weight loss and pregnancy triggered the issue and now I'm feeling better. Unfortunately after having it removed and having an empty band I gained 12lbs :-( I got a 5cc fill put back in and I am trying to get to my goal. Good luck to those who are pregnant and congrats!
