  1. I waited a week before going back on the desk then a month after that before I went back on the street. My Doctor would not release me back to full duty until 5 weeks because he was worried about me getting into a altercation and my port getting hit. After 5 weeks I was a little sore but not bad and returned to work with no trouble.
  2. I eat no more then 10 grams of whole carbs (not net) a day sometimes less. I get my protein in the things that I eat (per my Doctor) and I go to the gym daily.
  3. I was just wondering what would happen if you do not get enough protein? I try to get my 60 grams a day but sometimes it is hard to do so. Just let me know!
  4. I read that a lot of people hit a spot where they are not loosing weight. There is a lot of things that play factor in not loosing weight. I was banded on 8/28/2009 and have lost 17 pounds since then. I was on a liquid and soft food diet for two weeks and am just now allowed to eat fish, chicken, and turkey. I would like to share my diet and how I lost 50 pounds pre op. I know that it is not easy to loose weight at all! I follow a very strict 10 carb a day diet (Whole Carb). I do not eat bread, Pasta, rice, and I am very selective on what I eat in the day. I started out at 447 pounds and it was not easy to loose the pre op weight. I drink diet tea, Water, and go to the gym walking 1 mile a day and other workouts. I drink 50 - 70 grams of Protein a day as well. It is all in the diet with this tool that we have. I hope no one takes this as I am a little person and being a smart butt because I am not. If you do not follow a strict diet you are not going to loose weight. The reason that I truly believe this is because I have a friend that had this done, loosing a lot of weight. He stopped doing what he was to be doing and gained a lot back, even with the Lapband. I told myself that this would not happen to me.
  5. Louisiana is great, best state in the union! It is going away more and more every day!
  6. Thanks, I was just making sure that someone else had this trouble!
  7. I am 10 days post op and I am having bad pains in my left, should/neck area. It started yesterday and I have taken Gas-x strips. Does this go away when I am able to eat solids? I have been on mushes for a few days and my stomach hurts from gas and when I eat, well it does not last long lol. Please let me know! Thanks!
  8. Thanks, that is my plan!
  9. Hello All once again, I am not going to read through all the threads but how long did you take off or should I say how long was it before you went back on full duty (Street) after getting banded? I got banded on 28 August 2009 and I am going back to work Monday on light duty. Give me some insight on how the rest of my brothers and sisters in blue did their recovery time so I know how to judge things. I know that everyone is different and I am only looking for a time line. Thanks everyone!
  10. I just want to be able to have a great big deep belly burp just once to release some indigestion! That would feel so good!!!
  11. I had the greatest surgery experience with Dr. Belott and his surgery staff. They were all super nice, and helpful not only to me but my family as well. I would highly recommend Dr. Belott to anyone that is looking to have the Lap Band surgery done in Louisiana.
  12. Yesterday, August 28, 2009 was my surgery day. I got at the hospital at around 0600 to check in and so on. Went into my room, got into the nice robe and relaxed in the bed, nervous as all get out because I had never had surgery before. The RN came in my room and I signed some paper, then she got my BP. The Anesthesiologist came in my room and started my IV and left the room. He came back a few minutes later and gave me the shot that relaxes you. The surgery staff came into the room and got me bringing me to the OR. I got into the OR and the Anesthesiologist came in and all I remember is that the put the mask on my face and told me to breath in deep, I did it twice and I was out for the count. I do not remember the recovery room lol. I remember being being moved back to my room where my Wife and family was. I was still very loopy did not want to do anything but sleep lol. I had to get out the bed and sit in the chair to make sure that I was okay. At around 1230 they discharged me and I left to come home. I slept most of the ride home and was not hurting to bad at this point. Later in the night I started hurting really bad because of the gas. I had to sleep on my sofa because it was the only place that I could get comfortable at the time. The gas went away but I am really sore today. Overall the hospital staff at West Jefferson was the greatest, they were all very nice and cared. :frown:
  13. Today is the day!! Wish me luck and good luck to all that is also having surgery today!!
  14. Started my liquid protein diet today, three (3) more days!!!
