Exercise versus how much calories I need.

Can't answer for sure. I use a bodybugg, it monitors how much I burn and how much I eat. It sure helps me figure out when I can add a snack and when I need to walk away!

    How does a port flip?

I knew I did it the first time - didn't know the second time. The first time I had a lot of burning around the port area. Yes, it did require surgery to have it flipped back. It wasn't fun at all. I'm betting this time won't be so great either. I'm still unsure what I did this time - unless it was the p90x program I've been doing.

    How does a port flip?

Actually yes.. I have flipped my port twice now. I was banded last January and flipped it the first time last July. I went in yesterday (can't seem to stop throwing up) and tried to take out a bit of liquid but couldn't because I am flipped ... again. I know what I did the first time, but no idea this time.

    Stuck Food....

I'm doing the same thing. Had mine done January 2010! I have a dr. appt Friday.. we'll see what they have to say about it.

    Can I damage my port????

I had my surgery 1/12 last year. In June I took my daughter to a national bb tourney (she was playing in it) and I was bent over trying her shoes. I felt major burning around the port area. I had pulled all my stitches on one side and flipped my port. I had to be opened back up to flip it back. I am very careful now, but also do P90x and run 2miles a day. The P90x program has an ab ripper that kicks my... er.. abs? but haven't had a problem since they stitched it back in. Hope that helps.

    Body Bugg

I have had mine over a year. I wouldn't know what to do without it. I have found that if I skip a few days of wearing it, that is when I gain weight. I am much more aware of what I'm buring and what I'm eating when I wear it. I upgraded mine to the one that synchs with my phone, however it doesn't really do it all that well. I find I get really excited to synch it after a run so I can see how much I've burned off. :

    LAUGHING COW RECIPES

I do a grilled sausage and cheese sammy for Breakfast sometimes. The kids LOVE LOVE LOVE it! 2 slices of bread 1 wedge laughing cow 1 slice 2% cheese turkey sausage crumbles (I like jimmy dean) Heat the sausage up (or cook regular turkey sausage then crumble). Lightly butter one side of one slice bread. Put in pan. Cover bread with slice cheese. Add turkey sausage to top of sliced cheese. Spread wedge cheese on other piece of bread, then lightly coat other side with butter. Add to top of sammich (yes, I said sammich) in the pan. Heat till lightly brown. Normally I cannot eat bread, but this ends up toasted nicely and I can eat it just fine. It's also under 300 calories. Recipe from the new Hungry Girl Under 300 Calorie cookbook. Fantastic book that I highly recommend!
  9. Congrats to both of you! As of this morning, I am down 45 lbs!! Whoo-hoo! I'm very excited too. I can't wait to see what we will be like next year at this time!
  10. Ok, so I started at a size 22. I'm wearing a size 16 jeans now. My shirt from a 2XL to an XL. BUT.. the scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks?? I just can't explain it. Everyone keeps asking me "how much have you lost now?".. but none in a while?? I can SEE the difference body wise, but still befuddled.
  11. I have it too. I have a new dr appt in the morning with a second dr. The two cortizone shots I've had directly in my heal worked for less than 2 weeks (together) and I've had it taped. I've also gone to physical therapy. Nothing is working. I stand at work and it's just getting so very bad. Hopefully the doc in the morning will have something new to say. hopefully...

    Gallbladder/Stones pain, but no gallbladder.....

Haven't read the article, but wanted to throw my lazy 2 cents in. I too have had my gallbladder removed and still get pains occasionally. According to my doctor, it is totally possible to have that issue.

    Faking comorbid conditions

I wont question anyone's morals.. however I would ask.. When/If the insurance company comes back to ask for documentation (which they will....) what are you going to then?

    Poop Question....

I'm claiming that as my 4th child.. cause, OMG... that is EXACTLY what that felt like. It was also 5 days for me. But it does get better.

  17. Curious as to why you think that Larraine? She's talking about her body which is something we ALL do here. She's in an appropriate forum to discuss this topic. So.... I don't see the problem.

    Scars!?! Would you...

Mine are healing very well.. so absolutely, I sure would! Even if they left a bigger than I expected scar, it's still better than the alternative.

    Post op Port question

mine is on the right side of my belly, just a bit north of my bellybutton. It's right under the biggest (3") scar. Yours must be around that big scar, I mean, it had to get in there somehow right?
  20. So, we've been approved and some of us are on our pre-op diets, let's stick together to provide motivation and support to those going through what we're going through :blushing: Any takers?

    Out-of-Pocket Removal Cost

Sorry to highjack - I'll make it quick! Kay, hang in there. I had mine in on the 13th. I too was sick every day until Saturday when I went to the ER. Apparently I was allergic to the anti-nausea meds. I am very very sore now and lack energy, but I'm doing SO much better than I was. Hang in there. It has to get better! Ok, highjack over.
  22. Might I suggest holding off and healing first then going down to help rebuild? The need isn't going to disappear overnight. You will be of more help once you have healed yourself. That being said, my husband and I did a mission trip to Jamaica. I cannot even imagine going now - I'm 6 days post op. There is NO way I could have done what we did before in the condition I am in now. The weight limit to pick up things alone would have been a disaster.

    Did you name your band?

She who must be obeyed? LOLOLOL good one!!
  24. Just-Ice

    Did you name your band?

I named not only my band.. but my port too. The band is Ben (because it's gone where no other has been) and just because the port is so picky... it's Jerry. My port is right under my skin and very much obvious to me. Jerry doesn't like it when I hear something very very funny because he jabs me Ben and Jerry make a good team.
  25. I originally got my Protein from GNC but have switched over to Bariatriceating.com - They actually have an unflavored protein that is unscented! I have an issue with a nasty smelling item I'm supposed to eat a bunch of... yuck! My last order was placed on Monday, I had surgery on Wednesday and they were delivered on Thursday.
