  1. I got a 1cc fill yesterday and felt fine, liquids seemed ok. Today everything is gurgle gurgle and a little uncomfortable. Am I too full or could this be the "day after" swelling and hopefully back to normal in a day or two?
  2. that is awesome!!!!! major milestone!!!!
  3. So to agree with everyone, it SUCKS to be hungry!!!! Anyway, I've had one fill and am ready for a second, don't push getting one too early or it won't "work" for long. I think I got mine too early while my stomach was still swollen and healing, I had great restriction for a few days and slowly was able to eat more and more.... which would make sense if your internal swelling is still going down. However, I DID feel restriction and fullness for the first time in my life and LOVED it!!!! Can't wait for my next fill next week!
  4. Absolutely frustrated! I am a self pay patient and can't find a provider to do a fill! One scheduler even called me a liar when I said I had my surgery in CO. She said I'm sure you had it in Mexico and our surgeons don't deal with that! Then if I found a surgeon who will do out of state patients, they don't take self-pay! I need a fill!!!! I would fly to CO but Dr. K is out till Jan. 11 and I don't want to risk the snow and getting stuck in Denver. The thing is that I called these places before my surgery and they were all nice about taking over care, now it's the total run around that will take months!!!!!! HELP
  5. It's OK!!! I know the feeling though! I have had nachos and pizza. I'm also 4 weeks post and am hoping to get a fill next week. The good thing is even though I don't have restriction, I am some more self control. I only had one and one half slices of pizza and was able to stop. I wasn't full but I was comfortable! NEVER would have done that before!!! Only look forward, you can't change what you did today but you can change what your going to do tomorrow. Keep on keeping on and let me know how your fill goes! I sure hope I can get one soon, still waiting to see if the surgery center here will take me on since I had my surgery out of state!
  6. Thanks everyone for the advice! The doctor prescibed Miralax and after a full day I still haven't had any results, I have been trying very hard to get my fluids in and walk today. The pain is less so something must be moving! I am definately going to follow alot of this advice and NOT end up in this situation again!
  7. Add me too~~~ attitudz 5'4" nov 19, 2009 365 start surgery - not sure of weight 349 current
  8. I was banded on 11/19 and after a few days of pure hell I have been feeling great. Moved on to mushies and maybe a few things that weren't and still everything was aok! However, I started having pains on my left side below the ribs yesterday that has progressed into unbearable pains today. A call to my surgeon on a Saturday morning and I will say I was impressed by the less than 5 minutes it took for him to call back. (YEAH for Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver!!!) He recommend me seeing a doctor in my area (Wisconsin) if not better by morning....long story short, my reg MD was on call so I went in. Turns out I am constipated!!! How? I have barely eaten a thing! And I have gone a little #2 each day so I have to say it was not what was expected!!! SO the point is ....... ANY ADVICE ON RESOLVING THIS??????? AND IS IT COMMON? I'm afraid to eat now!!!! The doctor gave me a light laxative but it's been over 8 hours and still nothing! The pain is so bad I'm thinking about vicoden but that's what caused it in the first place!!!!!
  9. Was banded on the 19th. First 4-5 days were awful and painful but I've turned the corner and am beginning to feel great! Have moved on to "mushies" just in time for Thanksgiving. Not sure about any restriction, not going to eat enough to find out! Have a little discomfort after eating my mushies, they go down fine but then I feel kinda yucky. Hope thats normal. When is everyone going for their first fills?
  10. I agree about all the sugar-free stuff. That isn't healthy but just remember its just to serve one purpose - shrink the liver. Soon you can be eating healthy smaller portions of what you like! I'm just amazed at the variety of pre-op diets! I've seen on here things from no diet at all to the clear liquids. Isn't there a happy middle?
  11. I am flying into Denver for my sugery with Dr. Kirshenbaum and am having it done at Crown Point Sugery Center in Parker. Has anyone else gone there? WHERE do I stay the cheapest and should we rent a car? It looks like it's quite aways from the airport so is a taxi going to cost a fortune? HELP!!!!
  12. I have my surgery on Nov. 19 (whoo hoo!) in Denver. I will fly in for pre-op the day before and need to fly home the day after. I'm nervous about this!!! Any suggestions on how to make this as easy as possible???????
  13. I just started mine on Wed and it's tough. Mine is high-protein, low carb also. NO Flour content whatsoever. I am ok with steak, chicken and fish with vegys and cheese for most meals, its breakfast I'm having a problem with! I'm not really an egg person. I did make a salad that was good the other day, lettuce, chicken with fajita seasoning, cheese, peppers, onions and salsa with a touch of sour cream. YUM
  14. I'm in WI and it's a no-go with Medicade unless you have MAJOR weight related health issues. And then it's a bypass only, no banding for anyone with a BMI higher than 45. I'm doing self-pay because even if we fight it and win I don't want the bypass. Apparantly WI just tightened down last March, prior to that it was easy to get approval.
  15. Hey there November Knockouts!!! I am here to join you!!! I have been jumping through hoops with my insurance and have just decided to say the heck with it and do self pay! I've spent too many years of my life overweight and I'm not going to waste anymore time fighting with my insurance, besides whats a little more debt on the huge mountain I allready have!!!! Anyway I have a surgery date of November 19 in Colorado with Dr. Kirshenbaum and I am sooooo excited! Not looking forward to the flights as most of us overweight people dont. But I'm thinking of this as the last time flying fat!!!!! Good luck to everyone!!!!
  16. that's awesome! where are you having it done?
  17. OK after fighting and fighting with insurance and doctors I am just going to go for it!!!! I am doing self pay, took out a loan and am going to Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver for my surgery!!! My surgery date is November 19th which was my orginal date here. I am sooooo excited and scared all at the same time!!!! Any helpful advice as I go through the next two weeks would be awesome!!!!! Also - how long should I take off of work????? I'm a hairstylist and stand all day so I'm thinking of going back part time at first, but not sure when????????
  18. Thank you! Glad to hear that from people who went to him. I am very excited (and scared)!!!!
  19. I have been denied by insurance and if I fight it will only get approved for bypass which I DON"T want. I got a loan and am thinking about Dr. K in Denver based on some posts I saw on here. Anyone got some feedback for me? Kinda scary going out of state to someone I don't know.
  20. Thank you all for your help, I heard from my Doctors office today and they are livid! He says I DO have the comorbities listed and that they will try and fight, I do NOT however want to spend the next 2 years fighting. Also - my insurance will only pay for a bypass with my high BMI and I don't want that. I talked to Dr. Kirshenbaums coordinator today. I am trying to find some financing and once that comes through i think I'm going to Denver! Anyone have suggestions on medical financing?
  21. thank you for the help, I do have alot of those problems but the ones they have listed only have to do with the heart and diabetes...... the insurance company is a total roadblock they wont tell me anything, they ONLY deal with the doctor, I feel my surgeon is dropping the ball on this, my regular doctor is VERY supportive, I'm thinking I should go back to him and see what he thinks
  22. So I found out today that after going through the whole pre-op procedures for the past 6 months that my insurance won't even consider my app. due to the fact that I don't have "comorbidities". I feel my surgeons office has wasted my time for the past 6 months having me go through all this and then telling me I'm not even a candidate. My BMI is over 60 but since I don't have any major heart issues I'm not a candidate. I am completely focused on having this done, and need to find somewhere and a way to pay for it. My surgeon at the U of MN wants $19,000.00 and 350.00 for each fill. HELP - I'm in WI and need to find somewhere to go and someway to pay. Any suggestions are welcome! I've cried all day, now it's time to get to work!
