Okay, today is 7/9/09, and I will be going to Florida from the 11th until the 19th, with my daughters travel basketball team. At the same time I am trying to prepare myself for surgery on 7/31. I have read many postings and still do not know what I should drink, in regards to protein shakes. My doctor does not offer any, but he does want me to do the low carb diet for pre-op. Any suggestions? Remember, I will be on the go.. :thumbup:

What kind of protein shakes did you drink?

Yes, I have to pay $600.00 for my deductible and $60.00 for my regular visit on the 24th.

I have surgery 7/31 and I start my pre-op diet on the 17th. I wanted to get a head start but my doctor did not suggest a protein drink, only for me to cut my carbs and a list of food to have and some in moderation. Should I try the protein drinks instead to help me shrink my liver?

Good Luck and glad to heat that all went well with your surgery. When you say you are having trouble with liquids, Do you mean you have trouble swallowing, or Are you hungry and crave food?

Hello, I have BCBS of NC and I am having my surgery done in Lumberton (Southeastern Regional Medical Center). I guess it all depends on the person and the situation, regarding how long it takes for approval. I was approved the same day my doctor sent in the paperwork. My BMI is like 46.6, and I don't have any co-morbidities. I use to get the B12 shot back in 2007 for about 6 months and lost 45 lbs. I had to stop b/c I became pregnant. I had my son Aug. 08 and gained the weight back plus 20 lbs. I breastfed so I could not continue B12, I went to a seminar at SRMC in May and decided to see if I qualified. After doing my pre-testing I was approved on July 1, and have a date for July 31st. Our plans changed as of July 1, 2009; $600.00 deductibles $60.00 co-pay for specialist $25.00 co-pay for primary Good Luck to all and pass the word there is an surgeon in Lumberton!!! My surgery is scheduled for July 31st and I am so excited...

Is that true that you can't get pregnant after gastric? I know someone who had gastric bypass and since then has had a baby. I just got approved for Lap band 7/31 surgery date. I was considering which to have. I have a co-worker who had gastric about years ago, she stayed sick, and now she look old have bags even though she is only like 37 or 8 years old.

Hello, I am new to the site and have just got approved. My surgery date is scheduled for 7/31/09. I am a little scared, not of the surgery, but that it will be too hard for me to maintain the requirements. My goal is to lose about 145 lbs. If anyone have any suggestion about post op diet or anything else, please feel free to share them with me.
