  1. I've been banded since 09 and avoided carbonation for over a year. I can now enjoy a soda every now and then. Someone was right when they said let it fizz out a little. I like it really cold so putting a can on ice helps.

  4. My band has slipped, I'm having surgery tomorrow. My doctor comes to talk to me and throws me for a loop by suggesting I switch and go for a gastric sleeve. I was banded in 09 and have lost 106 lbs. Any advice? I'm in maintain mode now at 149lbs. In the long run, will the sleeve be better? I don't want another band slippage? I'm really confused!
  5. I didn't think my doctor would unfill for personal reasons but I asked and they said yes!
  6. I haven't been getting fills in well over a year. I love my new body and reward it by buying nice clothes and doing more things than thinking about food. Its not that I want to eat everything on the cruise, I just want to be comfortable and not get stuck.
  7. Thank you all for the great feedback. I will talk to my doctor when I get there. I'm already thinking I don't want a complete unfill but maybe just a little less then what I have now. I will let you all know how it goes!
  8. I've been banded since 2009 and have scheduled my first unfill because I'm going on a cruise and just want a band break. I've lost 100lbs, I feel like I deserve it! Have you done this ? How was it? Did you eat like crazy?
  9. Hang in there! I vomit every single day. Sometimes liquids are even hard to keep down. I feel your pain in wanting to eat normal again, I think about it all the time. When out with friends its the worst! But, with all that said, I'm even more excited about my success. I'm 20 lbs from 100 lbs lost, down almost 10 sizes and for the first time in my life able to purchase clothes off the rack. My look on it is, I ate what I wanted for 20 years and was fat and unhappy and still gaining, being able to eat chili cheese pastraimi fries, hot dogs and whatever else is so not worth it.
  10. Noises all the time. Throat noise, stomach noise. Its just one of those things we have to get use to! Love when I find out I'm not the only one!
  11. During the post diet liquid phase I dreamed about crackers. In the dream they were the best thing I ever tasted. I could taste them the dream felt so real. I understand what your going through!
  12. I was banded at Cedar's in 09. Who is your dr? I had a c section in 07. Why does that worry you? Cedars prepares you very well with you binder and pre class. The staff is extremely nice, you'll be fine! I think my surgery was about an hr, then in recovery for a few hrs, then I went to my private room for the night. I wasn't allowed anything to drink until I got to my room. I woke up starving and thirsty! I was discharged about 4 or 5 the day after being banded. Good luck
  13. Your in bandster hell! It will change when you get a fill or two.
  14. I called my doctor's office and they are mailing me one. Maybe, now everyone gets one. I was banded in 09, the old days!
  15. Congrats! I know the feeling! I started at 20 now in 10's, trying to get to 8. I'm amazed everytime I go into a store with friends now I no longer are just accesory shopping! Its a great feeling!
  16. I have to ask my dr again. I was told the card is only for those who have the advantage band, I think that's the name of the company. Over the weekend a worker got yelled at because he let me order off the kids menu. I felt bad, but even if I wasn't banded and wanted smaller portions I think I should be able to do so. They are still getting my business, I could have taken it elsewhere.
  17. I was in pain right after post op for about 4-5 days. I'm not big on drugs so I didn't really take the pain meds. GL

  19. Continue to try and make the best food choices you can and exercise. Just because there is no restriction now doesn't mean it won't happen at your next fill.
  20. I'm 2 years post op and can now drink carbonated drinks with no problem. This just recently started happening. The first year, I couldn't, once I tried to drink a monster, felt like I couldn't breath! I just took a sip of it. I'm still scared to try something like that but a soda, I can do now. My advice, try little sips to see how your body will react!
  21. Same thing here, I'm two years post op and sometimes I have no hungry at all and others I do. I want to ask the dietician because I'm not losing anymore, I think my body needs something to burn.
  22. I also have an IUD and love it! The shot made me fat right before I was banded and I've never been a fan of pills. IUD so easy and no worries for 5 years.

  24. Brandon, I don't know how independent you are but at 26, I had my own insurance, job, apartment therefore making my own descions. On my 1st visit to my dr, he told me some people lose a lot and some only 20lbs, that I was going to have to work with the band for it to work for me. It works if you follow your dr's orders and exercise. The band helped my by limiting the amount of food I'm able to eat and making me make better eating choices. I'm not eating a hamburger, plate of speghetti (pasta), multiple slices of pizza or chili chesse pastrami fries. All foods that I use to enjoy but can no longer because of the band. What taste better than any of those foods combined is knowing that I have lost 77lbs!
