  1. Congrats! Way to go!! Tiff what are the "funky tippy toe exercises"?
  2. Shontel Congrats! We can do this together. I am starting the jog/walk routine myself. I am signed up for a Triathlon in Sept where I have a 2 mile run. It may take me from now till Sept to get ready. I completely understand about the jiggling- :001_smile: I have been walking for 2 min and then running for 1 min- for a total of 30 min- is that what you are doing?
  3. I just took my first Zumba class last week and loved it! I was talked into it and really wasn't sure what I signed up for- so I googled it. I was a little nervous because I didn't think my body could do what I saw when I goggled it- but all was fine. You are able to modify to your level of comfort- I recommend everyone to go Zumba!!
  4. I got talked into signing up for a Zumba class- can anyone tell me what it is......?
  5. I do the eliptical machine 3 days a week, kickboxing once a week, body sculpting one day a week, and then line dancing (not very strenuous but fun) one day a week. I need to incorporate more weight strength training. I actually have an appt with my fitness trainer today and going to get her advice. As far as a goal I also have one. I am doing a triathlon in the fall. I won't be in the top tier to finish but I don't want to be in the last tier either!!! I am goal oriented so this will help me stay on track. Great committment to sign up for the Marathon. For anyone that lives in Cincinnati there is a great event in May called the "Flying Pig Marathon". I don't live anywhere near Cincinnati but I am going to get one of their t-shirts- The shirts says "I will do a marathon when Pigs Fly!!!" Go to their web site it's great www.flyingpigmarathon.com
  6. Gosh Tiff I am sorry to hear your hubby is on stand by for Haiti- he hasn't been home long enough to leave again!!!!!
  7. It's great! That haircut suits your personality. Great choice!
  8. My vote is for A! It would look great on you!
  9. That's neat! Thanks for sharing
  10. I focussed on me! I started a consistent exercise program
  11. I was over cautious and took 3 weeks off. I could have gone back after a week but I enjoyed being off for 3 weeks and focussing on the new me. You will be fine after 9 days.
  12. Not sure if I can run either but I know I will be able to at least power walk.
  13. My sleeve surgery anniversary will be Sept 21 and this triathlon is Sept 26 so it will be a two fold celebration (that is if I can finish the darn thing!!!!)
  14. Soon after getting my sleeve (about 3 months ago) I read an article about a local triathalon that's focus is to empower women to be the best they can be. The triathalon is called the "Ramblin Rose". As triathalons go it's an easy one- you swim 250 yards, bike 9 miles and then run (or run/walk or walk) 2 miles. The neat thing about this triathalon is you can sign up for a mentor program. People help you train. Even if you have never swam before they will teach you. So three months ago I decided it would be a perfect exercise goal for me in 2010. Well sometimes I can be all talk (I talked about wanting to sky drive back in my 20's and never did that either!!!) But I just paid my entry fee for the triathalon- so I am committed. It is not until Sept 26 so I have plenty of time to train- I am nervous and excited at the same time. I will let you know of my progress.
  15. Pre-op when I heard "give up caffiene" I thought you have got to be kidding. I loved my regular coffee! I drank at least two cups every day. But I followed the rules. I weaned off caffiene slowly. Surgery came and I didn't have coffee. Now my Dr allows a cup a day and I may have one cup a month--- if that! I never thought I would pass on the coffee but my body actually does fine without it. Also the taste is different.
  16. It doesn't bother me at all for someone to ask- how much weight have you lost? Most of the time my response is......"not enough!" but I don't feel insulted that they asked me
  17. How pricey was the "speed bump" for your wedding ring?
  18. Glad to hear you are feeling great and everything went so smoothly. Don't over do it- listen to your body and take time to focus on yourself. You deserve it!
  19. Wow! I call it willpower to! I am like Tiff and scale obsessed! I laughed over your husband not getting jealous- that's cute!
  20. I tried my best but didn't get in my recommended amount of Protein until the mushie phase. I was told to stay away from those bullet things- the nutritionist said it was the wrong type of protein. I would check with your Dr. I wouldn't get too upset so early after surgery. Just focus on staying hydrated!
  21. I waited about 4-5 weeks for pills. I still do the chewable or gummy multi vitamin. Sorry it's not sooner
  22. Check with a jewelry store. I am having the same problem. I have lost 60 lbs and my rings can just slide off. Someone told me there is something called a speed bump that can be put inside the ring, but I haven't checked it out yet.
  23. I drink right up till I take the first bite. I do try and wait 30 minutes after eating to drink again.
