  1. Yeah Dovie don't worry about. Doctors and nurses are used to the site of blood, and they will not cancel your surgery because of it. My sister had gall bladder surgery while she had a vistor and she said it was fine just a tad embarassing. Good luck with the surgery you will do GREAT!
  2. I hope you soon get some relief! Feel better.
  3. Hey Everybody so after i drink a crystal light i always get this weird feeling in my throat and feel insanly thirsty i was wondering if anybody else gets this? Thanks
  4. I used to have frequent heart burn and milk or really any dairy product really helps. What ever you do don't have any salsa or anything spicy or with a tomato base. Also if you can eat them sometimes dry crackers help.
  5. Jodie I'm with you, most of the people at my school drink their daily worth of calories and still eat and never gain weight. I saw on another thread that you are headed off to college good luck and make the best of!!
  6. I'm sending good vibes your way!! I'll keep my fingers crossed!
  7. I went to a band info session tonight they said absolutly no babies for at least 12 months but 18 months is best. Good luck with everything!
  8. That sounds soo painful. I'm glad that they know what's wrong. I hope you feel better real soon!!
  9. Veggestyle I am younger than you (19) and my PCP thinks the band is a good idea, infact she said my age was more of a reason to get it done. As said earlier your doctor must not be familar with the band bring in more reserch and if she is still not supportive change your PCP if the band is something you are really interested in.
  10. Thanks for everyone's replies. I know that we shouldn't take medical advice from any one that claims that they are a doctor online ...I just wanted to see if it was legit like webmd.
  11. Hi everybody, As I was reading some threads I noticed that there are some replies from doctors my qustion is how do we know that these people are really doctors? Does any one check the person's credentials or check to see that they are the doctor that they claim and not impersonating the doctor? Thanks everybody.
  12. I really love New balance shoes, i have wide feet and they fit great! If your on your feet all day maybe you could look into shoes designed for nurses.
  13. Dirty Esmerelda! Arrgh
  14. Hi Tonjasm, I don't have your insurance but i just wanted to tell you that are BMI is the same and on Tuesday I am going to a WLS seminar at a local hospital. I just found that funny, Good Luck with your app.
  15. Lisa lots of people from this site have used Dr. Ortiz. You could try doing a search for him in the search bar above. I am not banded yet and plan to be banded in the US because my insurance will cover it. Good luck and welcome to the site!
  16. My dentist yelled at me because i love to chew ice. He said it is really bad for your teeth because you could chip them, so now i stick a water bottle in the fridge until it gets slushy.. I love cold things.
  17. Nancy I read the thread and you were fine, don't worry about. These threads are for sharing info and experiences and that is all that you were doing.
  18. Hey RLittman, I'm not banded yet but i have the same questions as you. It seems like baby food would be an easy way to eat during mushies, has anyone done this? Good luck with the band, you will do great!
  19. Wow 3loves that must have been a frieght. As a kid i was always in the water, i took swim lessons every where from the Y to area colleges. All the programs i participated in really stressed going into the deep water, one of the programs even had a 20 foot diving pool they would use for swim lessons. While i understand your worry about this being done of the first day, i have to agree with the aquatics director. And perhaps since there were only 3 kids the instructor thought it was safe. But if anything makes you feel uncomfortable question it, and stay and watch the lesson. Just make sure that you do not make your son feel uncomfortable in the pool as it is essential to learn how to swim.
  20. Hey everyone. I'm 19 and just beginning my lap band journey, on monday i talked to my PCP about it and she is very supportive. Next week i will be going to a madatory group meeting, i then get to scheduel an app with the docgtor. Veggestyle i thought for sure my mom would never understand, but when i told her she was very supportive in fact happy that i made this decision myself. People can surprise you with thier reactions.
  21. rainbow, what was the bad press about? I hope you find a protein drink that you like!
  22. It could also be a lack of calcium. A lack of calcium is usually responsible for charlie horse type cramps. We just learned about this in my anatomy class last week. Talk to your doctor. Feel Better.
  23. I'm with Penni Aloe Vera is a miracle plant. Any one with sensitive skin should get one, the aloe from the leaf works much better than the bottled stuff. It's great for skin irritation and sun burns. Feel better.
  24. The type of clothes you wear can make all the difference. When you wear clothes that fit well you feel soo much better about yourself and in my experience people treat you better. I have noticed that while some bigger people wear baggy clothes others try to fit into clothes that are much too small. I know i'm guilty of doing both but i have come to relize that when the clothes fit properly i feel more self confident. And plus with the baggy clothes or clothes that are too tight I tend to look bigger than i am.
  25. Thanks everyone for your input.
