Is hungry, hungry and full,full
Well I am only a couple weeks out and the smell of good food is hard to handle, all the commercials, watching everyone around me eat, fast food signs, etc. were killing me in the beginning. The good thing is that I do get full easily, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to finish all my food because it tastes so good. That's why I'm overweight in the first place, so I guess this is where our sleeve stops our insanity along with some good old fashioned will power!! It is hard to make such a huge change, and it will take time for your mind to catch up to your new stomach as far as how much you can safely manage vs. how much we used to be able to shovel in...lol! Your doing great on your liquid diet, what is your surgery date?

Sex after Surgery?
Yaaaaa, congratulations on setting your sleeve date!! I think you will be fine to go at it by the time your husband's birthday rolls around! I had surgery on 1/5 and my doctor told me that as soon as I felt up to it I could, and I felt up to it a week and a half after surgery. I took it a little easy, so you might not want to get too wild in the beginning...lol!! Another thing my doctor told me is that we are alot more fertile while losing weight so quickly. I thought that was an interesting tid bit since I had never heard that before, so for now I am using two kinds of birth control. I hope this helps, good luck!!

I made it to ONDERLAND!!!! YAY!!!!
Wow, that's great! I know it's hard to always get in all of our water...and exercising always seems to make it to the end of our daily to do list...lol! But you made it to the 100's, that is a great achievement and something to be proud of!! I can't wait til I make it there. Keep up the good work!

I can't take it.....
I had bad dry mouth the first 2 weeks also, and I liked to suck on the sugar free popsicles. It helped me alot, and when I wasn't doing that I had water that I would swish around in my mouth. It also seemed like I brushed my teeth alot to get rid of that feeling, it helped a little. Now that I am getting in more liquids my mouth doesn't seem dry at all. Hopefully this is just a quick post-op phase and you'll be through it in no time! Congratulations on your surgery and your doing great with your weight loss! Yaaaaaaaaa....sleeve sister!!

Home & Sleeved (1/19)
Yaaaa...you made it! Sounds like your doing great with the walking and sipping! I know it seems neverending in the beginning but it does get easier. My first two weeks were very rough, but now I'm doing great. All the pain, and being uncomfortable will pass. The liquid vicodin was nasty!! I told my doctor that I would like some regular vicodin crushed rather than the liquid, it made me gag just trying to get it down. Just keep taking in as much liquid as you can, because you really don't want to get dehydrated at this point, and soon you will be able to get in the 64oz. It is still hard for me to get that much in everyday and try to get in my protein. All we can do is try, and hope we improve...right? Best of luck to you, it sounds like your doing great though!

Week out
I had my surgery on the 5th of January 2010 and my cravings post-op got so bad that I actually chewed up a cheese puff then spit it out! It did help, and I didn't go down hill from there, it just satisfied that craving of something tasty, and just to be able to chew on something helped ALOT, even if I did spit it out. I no longer crave any of that stuff and can't wait to eat a salad!! At the time of weakness though I feel like if you don't go for it, it will haunt you...lol! We do all have different cravings and weakness', so it is really up to you on how well you can handle yourself! My pre-op diet was very rough, and now I have 2 weeks thin liquids, 2 weeks regular liquids, then 2 weeks of mushies!! I just needed to taste something other than broth and protein shakes!!! We will all conquer our head hunger sooner or later, but it is harder for some! Give yourself a break, and if you do splurge just don't lose track of your long term goals!! Best of luck to you!! Your doing great!

I am sleeved!!!!

Another Step Closer
I been there!! It's hard to not think about something all the time that you want sooo badly. My whole family got so tired of hearing about it, but I didn't care I would just ramble on to whoever would listen...lol! As far as the pre-op diet, your doctor will let you know what specific diet they will want you on, maybe if you ask them ahead of time you could prepare a little easier! I always like to be prepared myself. Now for my pre-op diet my doctor was very strict, No carbs, No fat, No sugar...it was rough! The only thing I ended up drinking was Isopure that I bought at a local Rite-Aid. All of the other mixed powder proteins made me gag, the Isopure was clear and went down easy. I wish you all the best on your journey...your almost there!!

It's time!!!!!!!
Well my weight problem has been a long and hard journey so it is exciting to think of all the possibilities with this surgery! I am ready to leave all the neagativity that came with obesity and finally make it over to the losers bench! My surgery is tomorrow but I will be leaving today because I have a long way to drive! I am so excited, scared, and nervous...but overall happy to have made it this far!! When I started this journey, I never thought that it would actually happen, knowone believed in me, or supported me (I think they thought that I was bluffing). I did it though...I made it!!! I proved to everyone that I was serious, and I hope to someday soon become an inspiration to them to lose weight and to start living a healthier life!! I just want to thank you all for being there, listening, helping, for sharing stories and information. You were the support that I needed when I wasn't able to get it elsewere, and I don't know if I would have made it this far without all of you!! See you on the losers bench...sleeve sisters!!!

Half-Ton Mom!!?!!
I know that there is always a chance of complications. I have weighed out all my pros and cons as to whether or not to get surgery and ofcourse I made the choice to go ahead with it. I think it is only natural to have a little fear beforehand. I guess I was just looking for some understanding, compassion, and positive reinforcement...thanks everyone!

Worst pre-op diet ever!!!
Thanks for the positivity guys! I needed that! I am so glad there is only 3 days left, I don't know how much longer I could hold up! On the last day I will have clear liquids only, and I know it sounds crazy but I'm actually looking forward to being able to have broth! I'm going to Dr. Woodbury with Healthy Steps in Santa Rosa, Ca. I know this is for the best, but I just needed to vent a little hunger frustration...lol! Thanks for listening!

Worst pre-op diet ever!!!
I know this diet is supposed to be whats best for us and our surgery, but I really feel like crap and it's been 11 days! I feel malnutritioned, and far more unhealthy then when I was eating salads. This diet is so strict it is ridiculous and a little uncalled for I believe...especially after hearing what all your pre-op diets consist of! I just wanted to share my diet and what I'm going through: Things I can eat: V-8 Juice Cream of wheat Sugar free pudding/jello Light n' fit yogurt Unsweetened applesauce Fat free cottage cheese Fat free milk Raw vegetables Things I can't eat: No fat No meat No fruit No fish No poultry No beans No cheese No sugar No nuts No oil No avocados No corn No eggs No pasta No cream I'm starving!!! I am soooo tired of cottage cheese, I cannot eat another bite! And although the raw vegetables are pretty much what I'm living off of at this time (besides protein drinks), they are not filling, and not near as good without dip:blush:! I feel weak, unhealthy and just crappy all around....

Half-Ton Mom!!?!!
So I was doing fine up until this point. I'm 3 days away from my surgery and the freak out has begun! Last night my man and I were sitting on the couch relaxing and watching tv. There was an interesting show on about a Half-Ton Mom and her journey through obesity and her fight to get weight loss surgery. Well, she pleaded for help to get weight loss surgery and finally a specialist in gastric bypass offered to help her. The surgery was a little rough because of her weight but she made it through...but two days later she has a heart attack out of no where and dies!!! She was only 29 years old with two daughters.:crying: I was sooo sad, and my man was clearly upset asking 50 questions. The whole time I was trying to reassure him I was getting more scared. I had a very hard time sleeping last night, I just couldn't stop thinking about it! I mean, what if?????????????????

I'm one of y'all
I been hearing alot about shoulder gas. It sounds painful! Can someone explain what that is, and why they get it? Is it like normal gas, but in the shoulder? Why do you get gas in the shoulder?...I'm confused and scared!!

The WRONG Isopure!!??
My doctor gave me a few samples, unjury being one of them and it was my least favorite! It had a bad smell, and didn't go down too well, and the after taste was horrible. I didn't really like any of the protein powders I tried yet though, they all were gritty and foamy and I could barely get them down...I actually ended up going and buying some Isopure at Rite-Aid for my pre-op diet(15g protein) and I like that much better. I am going to buy a variety for post-op (some Atkins shakes, Eas, and these ones from Costco that I can't recall the name) just to see which ones work for me. Good luck, it seems like finding the right one for you is very difficult and expensive!!

I'm one of y'all
I'm glad to hear everything went ok, sorry your feeling so icky though. I am still pre-op and was curious if the doctor prescribes something for all this gas I been hearing about or if I should buy some stuff over the counter? I hope all your pain goes away soon. Keep us posted on your recovery. It's good to know what I'm in for! Take care.

9 Days Post OP-First Appt with Doc
That's great!!! Your journey has begun with a bang! Keep it up! How have you been feeling? What types of things are you able to eat/not eat? What it easy to walk right after?
-
What to expect?
I had my pre-op appt. on the 17th. We went over every little detail about the surgery, my pre-op diet, post-op diet, what to bring, exercise, time off work, expectations, and took a pre-surgery pic. Then I went on to get my blood work done, chest x-ray, and ekg. Over all not too bad, just seemed like they repeated alot of things that we had already talked about, but I know they have to make sure they get it through our heads...lol!! Good luck tomorrow, your almost there!!

Pre-op diet difficulties!!
Thanks everyone! I went out and finally found some isopure...it tastes and goes down sooo much better! I qalso found a bunch of other stuff that looked like it would be tasty! Here's the website if anyone's interested; BariatricEating.com - Ready to Drink Protein I have tried unjury...ugh(gross)!! My doctor gave me samples of unjury and fusion, I have tried both and it didn't go so well. So I might look into trying some of midwest's recipes. My pre-op diet is so strict that I can't even have soup or soda whatsoever! I think my main problem was the actual protein powder smell and taste, and no matter what I tried it in, nothing helped. Does anyone else feel weak? I almost feel sick, like I'm not getting enough nutrition or food...lol! Maybe it's my body going into shock. Is the pre-op diet kind of like a detox? I'm wondering if maybe I will start feeling better when my system is cleaned out.

Help with crushed pills
Mixing them with applesauce or pudding sounds great. I'm curious if you still get the full potency effect of the vitamins or medications when crushed or added to food? What about crushing them all together and throwing them in...can I do that?

Pre-op diet difficulties!!
I am 3 days into my pre-op diet and it is rough!! I have no problem with the cutback on food, but I'm am having trouble choking down the Protein shakes! The smell, and taste are horrible...and when I finally do get one down, it feels like it's going to come back up for the next few hours(which is unfortunate because I spent over 200$ on fusion protein powder)! I have tried it with crystal light, Water, and milk but nothing works. I am worried that if I am having this much trouble before surgery how is it going to be after? Why can't they just make a protein pill!! There has to be an easier way, I could really use some advice or ideas!! Oh yeah, and I have been feeling sooo tired, weak, sickly, and I have been getting headaches...am I doing something wrong??? Help please anyone!! Happy Holidays!!
