    When to reveal?

I told my extended family about it right from the beginning because I knew they'd support me. I needed that support and their prayers. The day before my surgery I decided to tell my church family also, again for the support and prayers. I love them all dearly but looking back, I would decide not to tell my church family about it. They have been very supportive but I'm constantly being asked "so how much can you eat now?" and I feel like everybody is watching me eat to see how much I can or can not eat. I have decided not to tell my co-workers at all about it. If asked about the weight lose, I'll just respond that I'm eating more healthy and exercising more. Which is what I'm doing and they don't have to know about my personal decision about the surgery (which from previous conversations, they all feel that surgical weight lose is nuts).

What will you do with your underwear??

I hate to just throw away my old large clothes. As with other diets, I saved them around "just in case". Now I'm not saving them!! out they go. Any thoughts on what to do with them? They are good clothes too. Anyone know of a place that they can be donated to? I'm in Michigan.
  5. go-gurt's (I think that's what they are called). They are yogurt in a tube that you can take on the go. Just snip off top and push up yogurt. I throw them in the freezer and I'm addicted to them. A nice cold frozen treat. I just wish I could find them in the sugar-free type.

    Breakstone's Cottage Cheese

These are yummy cheesy pancakes with bits of onion. Tastes a lot like a potatoe pancake but healthier. These are addicting, in a good way. Good way to get more Protein in. 1 small onion diced finely 1 teaspoon butter - softened 1 egg 1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese 2 tablespoons flour salt & pepper (to your liking) non-stick cooking spray In a bowl, beat the egg; blend in the onion, butter, cottage cheese, flour and salt and pepper. Mix well. Heat a non-stick skillet and spray with non-stick cooking spray. place 4 one-tablespoon scoops of batter in pan, spreading into rounds with spoon. (The original recipe calls for four 1/4 cup scoops but I found them too big and they wouldn't set for me) Cook over medium heat until set, flip and cook until lightly browned. Good served with a dab of low-fat sour cream. Original recipe of 1/4 cup scoops makes 6 five-inch pancakes that serves 2 and each serving has 135 calories, 6g fat, 4g carbs, 10g protein :hungry:

    Macaroni & Cheese

I was banded July 3, 2006. This week I able to work up to more solid foods, oh yummy too. I was craving salmon. Outback has the best salmon. And I was able to get 3 meals out of my one salmon dinner from there. What a strange feeling that is too. But it will be worth it. As far as the mac-n-cheese, I've tried KFC's mac-n-cheese and it did okay. They overcook it and it has a cheesy sauce now powder. I added a little bit more milk to it just to be safe. A lunch of a SMALL KFC's mac-n-cheese and a SMALL mashed pots make a full meal for me. I'm not used to that but am happy to get used to it. (I know it's not the healthest choice but when I'm in a rush to get something quick--without eating quick though--I picked that up). Here's to all us who made that decision to become healthier....HIP-LESS HORRAY!!

The band just isn't working for me

Things have slowed down for me also. Today was my weight in day and I've only lost .4 pounds since last week. :cry OH MY GOODNESS!! The last week was really hard for me. I'm just able to start Stage 3 for foods. We went to 2 BBQ's while I was still a mushie and it was tough, very tough. Couldn't eat ANYTHING they had there. I was afraid to cheat and end up throwing up there. I haven't told too many people that I've been banded. I know it's a slow process but come on!! .4 pounds and that's not 4 pounds, it's point 4 pounds. At least it's not a gain of any kind, I just have to keep telling myself that.

    A Dr C question

I've been reading through several of the discussions and it seems that once banded, you will vomit at one time or another. This has me concerned. What is the best way to avoid vomitting at all? My biggest fear is band slippage. My surgery date is July 3rd (scared but excited at the same time).
