    Not the ending I thought.

My condolences over the feelings of loss you are experiencing, so many expectations that you feel slipping away. It is a very real and disappointing challenge. One of the things that I learned in my own up and down journey is that the surgery does one thing for us, it severely restricts the amount of food we can eat at one time. It will typically take about one month for your body to get adjusted to the very low calorie diet that you would be on after surgery. The timing of the surgery, two weeks into a liquid diet, and the recovery period after help us to get through that month with out as much struggle. All of that is to say, it is possible to put yourself on the VLC diet even without the surgery. Just continue the regimen of liquid diet you have been on. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    May 19 Bandsters

I know there are quite a few out there. I was banded yesterday morning and was in and out without much of a problem. Recovery is going well but I am a stomach sleeper so having to sleep on my back has been a learning experience. I am obviously on a liquid diet but I can't drink very much at all. No regurgitation but I get a full feeling that is uncomfortable after about three or four sips. Hopefully that is just swelling and inflammation from the band install. What is your experiences so far?

    Social Reservations.

I was banded just yesterday (May 19) and so far I am only able to take about three or four sips of Water or broth and that provides a fullness felling that lasts quite a long time. I suspect that this is mostly due to swelling and inflammation from the band, but it was certainly surprising. I am not so concerned about my future meals and eating out. I plan to probably just order off of the apetizer menu and save a bit of money. Or if I am out family just pick of off their plates and not order anything for myself.

    Had my PreOp Appt today

I had my Pre-op appt yesterday and I have lost a stunning 16 pounds since my last weight loss visit in April. I am scheduled for May 19 and am really excited/anxious about it. I am ready, though, for this next chapter in my life.

I am so ready for it now. I'M the King of the world:w00t:

    Pre-op diet

Day 8 Pre-Op Diet. Failed miserably over the weekend, Birthday Parties are no match for the Diet. I did stay away from the Cake with buttercream icing and cheesecake filling. So there is a small victory in this. I have my pre-op appt on Thursday and I am looking forward to it for many reasons, one of them being to weigh in. My scale at home only goes to about 330 so I have no idea what my current weight is. On suggestion of a co-worker, I started using Emergen-C Vitamin supplements, they have 6 Carbs but really helped with the energy.

    Pre-op diet

DAY 3 pre op Diet. Are any of you dealing with sleepiness and ajust an overall lack of energy with the diet? I am taking a Multivitamin and even eating a very small portion of lean meat and green veggies. I am using Protein shakes that have less than 3g of carbohydrate but most of them are 0 carb. Just wondering if any of you are experienceing this too.

    Looking for May Bandsters

My date has now been set for May 19. I am really ready for this. My pr-op diet has been going well as long as I do not go out. Just stay home and the temptations are not there.

    Guess what, guys??

I got my approval letter recently also and it is such a relief knowing that all of the appointments I have had for the past six months wouldn't be a waste (in a manner of speaking). I am also scheduled for surgery now on May 19, 2010.
  15. How do you deal with large prescription pills during pre and post op liquid diets, especially in post op. I take 5 prescriptions for diabetes and associated conditions and a couple of these are fairly large pills. Howdoes this work with such a small pouch post op? Thanks

    Contact Sports?

This was one of my biggest concerns too. I was going to go through with surgery anyway and if I had to stop TKD and MMA then so be it. But this is very encouraging for me too. I am in San Antonio and have just completed 4 of 6 weightloss visits. I will be using Dr. JJ Gonzales and hope surgery will be in May or June of 2010. That is the plan anyway.
