  1. Hi there, I just had surgery on 6/7 and the first week was awful. I went into surgery thinking it was going to be sooo easy, cause I'm "not a wimp"! The gas pain just about kicked my @$$. I hated myself for not being able to lose the weight on my own and I wanted the band out sooo bad. But, at about 1 week postop, I was feeling great. Now, about the leg issue...I didn't have achy legs. I recently threw away my post op instructions, but I swear that it said if you have extreme leg pain, you should call the doc asap. So, I think you should call your surgeon. What will it hurt?
  2. I googled medicare 2010 and found this. check out the link and tell me what you think. I think it means that medicare will cover the sleeve, code 43775 starting in January. I don't have medicare, but I'm hoping anthem blue cross will follow suit if medicare starts covering the sleeve! http://www.cignagovernmentservices.com/partb/pubs/news/2009/1109/cope10956.pdf
  3. I began obsessively researching the band about three months ago. I waited patiently for my seminar before finding out that my insurance would not cover the band there because it was not a center of excellence. A month later, I met with a second center and listened to the doctor describe all of the procedures. The sleeve sounded fantastic and absolutely perfect. The band, on the other hand, seemed to be something of a risk with slow weight loss, potential for problems. I did not want to have to have 2 weight loss surgeries. HUGE problem, insurance won't cover the sleeve. I have seriously considered RNY since then but I just don't want to do it. Now, I've decided to wait. My insurance company, Anthem Blue Cross, indicated that they will follow suit when Medicare begins to cover the sleeve. In the meantime, my husband and I have decided to try to have baby #3. I really like the idea of being completely done with childbearing before embarking on a fabulous weight loss journey. I can't wait to join you all. If you don't mind, I plan on living vicariously through you all until I am sleeved!!:help:
  4. Wow! California is really expensive. My doctor charges a $3500 admin fee. Ouch.

  6. Hi there! I have my consultation with the surgeon on Wednesday as well as a meeting with a dietician. I had my psych exam done last week. I went to a seminar on April 23, but found that my insurance would not cover that bariatric surgeon because the program was not a "center of excellence". So, here is round 2. Kind of a bummer because the first place was MUCH more intense, closer to home, required a huge commitment from the patient and was much cheaper!! Oh well, I am looking forward to my appt on Wednesday and I hope to get scheduled SOON for my surgery! Once I got my mind set on the lapband, I just can't wait for the process to start. Good luck with you and hopefully there's a cancellation!!

I also have my consultation on May 20. Actually, it's a consult, appt with dietician and meet with surgeon all on same day! I have my psych eval scheduled for next week. I'm very excited and I wish you luck!

Here is my first post. I have been doing research on the lap band for a while now and I have finally made an appointment. I went to a seminar, but my insurance would not cover that particular center, so I am going to Chico, CA now. Is there anyone else out there who has gone to Chico for surgery??
