Hello fellow bandsters!
Hi there! Sounds like we are both in the same boat. I have a 10cc band and have 5.9 fill. I was just reading someone had surgery in April 2010 and has 5.6 already. I am so disappointed, I did lose 40lbs and last month when I went to the doctor I gained 8 lbs. She said she put in .6 but I feel like she took it out instead of put it in. I'm hungry and depressed so I also need some support! It will be 1 year since my surgery July 29. :scared2:

July 09 banders
Just wondering if there how much weight you've lost if you were banded in July. I've lost 30lbs. Just wondering how good that is compared to everyone else. Thanks!

Anyone out there who lost slow at first and ended up successful?
HI, I was just about to post to see if there where any July 09 bander and how much they've lost. I was banded July 29th and had 2 fills, I have lost about 30 lbs. I was wonderiing if it should be more. My doctor said that it will be a slow consistant loss of 1-2 per week. Hang in there, I was told when you slow down stick an extra protein shake in to get things going again. I don't really think I'm losing like I should but I've been eating more than I should.

Taco salad recipe-can someone help
I read a recipe awhile back for making taco salad with refried beans, sour cream, etc. I am 2 week post-op, and am looking for some good food ideas. Do any of you know the ingredients and how it was prepared. It sounded really good. Thanks!

Troubled bandster needs advise (may be a little TMI for some readers)
I'm sorry for all heartache in your life. You said you lost your job , your wife and didn't want to lose your sweet daughter. There is hope. Hope is Jesus Christ. If you give your life over to him and have faith that he will answer your prayers, He will. The answers will not be instant but in God's time. HE is the one you should go to for answers, He will be your rock, your Savior. I will pray for you.

Just NOT Working
Hi Kat! I was my post op appt today. I was told its about protein and low carbs. She told me that if you get to the point were you are not losing and are no longer on protein shakes, then now is the time to add a shake and it will help reboot the system. I makes sense to me. I hope it helps. I know having struggled with my weight for so many years then getting to that point would be a disappointment but I think your weight loss so far is magnificient!

I am getting banded tomorrow!!!
That's terrific! I'd like to say I'm doing as well. I had a H Hernia operation on top of the lap bad. It has set me back a bit. I can not take the pain meds, they knock me out and I wake up with an explosive headache! My family has been taking care of my 2 boys, I don't know what I would have done without them. I had to stay in the hospital and extra day and boy was I glad! I could never have done it without the help of my husband and family. I have gotten to the point I wish I never would have had it done!!!! I have a liquid diet until I see the doctor on Wed. and then I can start Phase II of the diet, which is adding Protein shakes, yougart etc. I hope you continue to do well, shopping and all!! LOL : )

Fibromyalgia, what are you taking for it now?
I have talked to my doctor about it but he just said i'd have to find something that wasn't an antiinflammatory because of ulcers. Also I did hear that Lyria did cause weight gain and since i'm already fighting that battle , i'm looking for something else.

I have fibromyalgia, I can no longer take the anti-inflammatory, I was taking. I am wondering if anyone else out there has it and which medications are you allowed to take now. Thanks!

Did anyone's shoe size change afterwards?
Well i guess it only makes sense for me....I used to wear an 8-81/2 and now i wear either a 9-91/2. It would be great to wear some of the classic heels I still have way back in my closet. : )

Teacher07 I was thinking the same think about the pre-op diet. My Post-op, the 1st week is clear liquids, 2nd week full liquids which include the protein shakes and 3rd week is phase I of pureed foods. I read that a girl went out to eat the next day with her family. She had no problems, which was great. I am having my surgery at Magee in Pittsburgh. You are doing fantastic on your weight loss journey, I hope to loss about 100lbs. My pre baby weight, which I've managed to pack on in 13yrs. I hope that I hate sweets,LOL,is my greatest weakness!!!

Getting Banded tomorrow 20th! ...
I am getting banded on the 29th, so I know the nervousness you are feeling. I will pray for you! As far as multivitamins, my doctor said to take a- One A Day,or a Centrum, or you can take the equivalent(2 a day-the adult dose) of a chewable childrens multivitamin. Calcium could be Calcium carbonate: chewable or crushable(500 mg, 2-3times per day; such as Tums, Viactiv Chews, Oscal) or Calcium citrate:(500, 2-3 times per day-such as Citracal. Good Luck to you, let us all know how you are doing! God Bless.

Nutcracker esophagus,anyone else out there??
Thanks so much for the input. I talked to my PA, she said that the GI specialist didn't think it would be a problem but it also could. If the time comes when i cannot be restricted, we can let it be if I am losing or if it is causing problems, it can always be removed. So for now I am staying with my July 29th surgery date. I really appreciate you taking the time to talk to me!

Nutcracker esophagus,anyone else out there??
No, nothing..... I was surprised that i had both and finding out at your preop appt was really not the time to tell me. I wish they would have contacted me earlier! I read somewhere that someone could not be restricted because they could not take the tightness and felt as though food was getting stuck. I have the choice also to have gastric but from the beginning I decided I did not want to go that evasive.

Nutcracker esophagus,anyone else out there??
Yes., the hienia will be fixed during surgery. I'm really not worried about that, it's the nutcracker...i guess it feels like you are having a heartattack sometimes and you can treat it with nitro
