  1. I have a friend who was banded last year and I noticed she does that, not sure why exactly, but she does seem to touch or pat that area quite a bit.
  2. Hopefully you will be spared, but boy I have not been. LOL
  3. My original bmi was about 52.7 and was 50.1 on the day of my surgery. My doctor did not mention there being a ceiling on bmi for lapband surgery. I would defiantely get a second opinion.
  4. Yes it is kind of surgeons choice, my doctor said many use it is their kind of signature so mine is on the right midway between my belt line and bra line, which is great, nothing hits it.
  5. When females lose weight they have hormone flux, the reason is that we store estrogen in our fat, as that fat melts, the estrogen hits our bodies and causes some of this problem. So hang in there. It popped me right ouf of menopause... I thought I was done. LOL
  6. I can drink liquids without much restriction, but it takes very little soup to make me full. Dont know if that makes sense. I have my followup on Friday, hopefully at that time I can be moved up from liquids...
  7. I went back to work today as well but only made it until 2, sitting up in a chair all day was hard and my desk was hitting one of my incision sites. So I am taking it easy, and hope to do better at work tomorrow.
  8. After weeks of dieting, I did go to thai food the night before, now I did not go crazy just had baked chicken and greens but it sure felt sinful.
  9. Wow Randy your stats are very close to mine, I am just the female version. Conrats on your sucess, how in the world have you lost that much so fast? Also, now that your weight is down how is your knee, that is my biggest worry, I have arthritis, bone on bone and a lot of pain..
  10. Tizzy unfortunately, if your insurance program specifically excludes wls there is nothing you can do to get it covered. Many more programs are covering surgery but your employer has to purchase the benefit for it to be covered. It is unfortunate that medical necessity does not pre empt this just yet, but that is the way it is. I just had my surgery last week and am blessed that my insurance did cover it, but I know had it not I would have found a way to do it. My knees are bad and I have to lose this weight or I will eventually not be able to walk so that was a pretty big motivator for me. Good luck and let us know if we can help in any way.
  11. Wow that is terrific, I know in the office where I work we have a couple of people in the 400 lb range and they have a really hard time getting and paying for clothes, so I am sure that anyone that you donate to would be very grateful to have them.
  12. Add lots of water to your diet, the more liquid you get the better you will be with this.
  13. Hang in there and dont get down on yourself, try out the new doctor and explain all your fears and concerns. I am sure with a doctor that you can communicate with you will be on your way.
  14. This is normal, your first week or so you are on liquids and it is very hard to get the necessary calories that way, once you start back on food your weight loss levels out, just keep following the program and it will start again but will be slower. If you are not using an online food journal I recommend that it counts your calories, protien and so on and gives you a good idea of what is working and not... Good luck, I hope to be on food soon too, I was just banded the 28th.
  15. One thing that happens with us women is that we store estrogen in our fat, so as we lose weight we have a bizzare imbalance in hormones and that can cause both depression, hot flashes and so on. I agree you need local nutritional support so check to see if you can locate one to help you and then start eating slowly but regularly. Focus on high protien high nutrient foods and I bet in 3 days or so you will see a big improvement. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.
  16. I did it by following a 1100-1200 calorie a day diet, eating every 3-4 hours. Lots of high protien, lots of veg, no rice, pasta, starch of any kind and make sure you get as much water down as possible every day. No soda, or carbonnated bev, I drank lots of crystal lite, water, tea. Hope this helps.
  17. wow your weight loss is amazing. How many calories are you taking in? Also are you exercising, if so what kind? I was just banded last week so you inspire me.
  18. Hi I had the surgery last thursday and I was like you quite anxious, but, it is much better once you get through it, I am very happy I did it and am healing very well, I know I have to lose the weight and I know I can't do it and keep it off on my own. Hang in there this is a time of anxiety but it does get easier.
  19. Good lord, dont even think about it that is way way over a paitients head! You will damage yourself and your band. Not worth it. Call your surgeons office, ask to speak to his PA or his nurse, tell them what is going on and ask what to do. Good luck.
  20. Hi I had my band placed yesterday, and it was easier than I expected, I was wheeled in to surgery at 9:30 and was out and talking to them in recovery by 10:50, I am sore but it is managable, for me I had to do this, I am too young to be cripple and my arthritis is ugly and heading that way if I can lose this weight once and for all. Have you ever had any kind of surgery before, that seems to be the hardest if you have not but this was a pretty easy surgery. Good luck.
  21. I just had my band yesterday and I am feeling pretty good, yes they take you down to the skin, you get one of their lovely hospital gowns. I was told 2 weeks for swimming and 2 weeks for sex. What I wish they told me that is hard as I research the heck out of everything myself.
  22. I am with you, I had my sg this am and am trying to get protien down, I have unjury but the chicken soup flavor gagged me, using unflavored in juice and it is better but not great. I am hoping I will get more used to it and I will definately send my son to gnc for that chocolate tomorrow, that sounds perfect. Thanks for the suggestion.
  23. So I am home and doing well. Really quite an amazing day, much better than I anticipated. I had been scheduled to be at the hospital at 9:15 with surgery at 10:45, so I am getting ready about 7:45 and the phone rings, doctor had a cancellation, can I come in asap. So I get dressed abnd we jump in car and get to the hospital around 8:20, got all checked in, got iv started and all that sort of stuff, they were really hurrying to get me through so I did not have time to think or worry. 9:00 I kiss my husband goodbye and head to the surgery suite, they started at 9:30 (I am told) and I was in recovery answering questions at 10:50. Was sitting up by 11:50 or so, walking by 12:15, pee'd, walked, headed home by 1:15. Not groggy, not in too much pain yet. Drinking juice and all so while I know tomorrow will be worse, I am very relived so far that it has been pretty easy.
  24. I am tomorrow, have to be there at 9:15 for a 10:45 procedure. Ready, well I will be glad for it to be over, that is for sure. I am as prepared as I can be and anything I forgot my husband and son will have to take care of for me. LOL good luck to you all.
  25. Good lord 50lbs in a month that is truly amazing. Holy cow I hope I do as well. Dont get discouraged you are doing spectactular to be down that much so quickly.
