Loosing the pre op weight.

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am new to the site. I have just begun my journey to being banded. The problem i am having is i have to loose 20 lbs before i can even get insurance approval. I know my insurance covers this.

I have an apt on June 25th to meet with the dietician again and support group. I was hoping to at least be at the halfway mark. Then July 23 is my psych eval and final appt with my surgeon. If i have not lost the weight i will have to wait until i do to be schedule or even info sent to insurance for apprval.

I was given a liver reduction diet. It reminds me alot of the Atkins. But i am not seeing the weight come off. Any suggestions on how i can speed up this process of loosing the 20 lbs? I really want to be able to set a date in July.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I did it by following a 1100-1200 calorie a day diet, eating every 3-4 hours. Lots of high protien, lots of veg, no rice, Pasta, starch of any kind and make sure you get as much Water down as possible every day. No soda, or carbonnated bev, I drank lots of crystal lite, water, tea. Hope this helps.

My liver shrinking diet consisted of a Muscle Milk for Breakfast, low fat cheese between lunch and bfast. For lunch I had two In-n-out Protein style burgers (wrapped in lettuce instead of bun or another Muscle Milk. Lowfat yogurt or another low fat cheese stick for snack and for dinner a grilled chicken breast and some broccoli. I lost 11 pounds in 10 days doing this. Also, be sure to get out for at least a 30 minute walk each day. Good luck to you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
