water upsets my stomach....help?
My doctor said cold Water and just water can cause nausea (it did and I had to go to ER to be re-hydrated with IV fluids). Try Gatorade G2 (lower in sugar) and at room temp and you can dilute it with water. Also find chicken broth is my friend. I am now 3 weeks post op and started drinking water and it is doing ok now.

Revision to RNY from Lap Band: Starting over
@innwtitdtity I had a 3 week post op on Tuesday and things are going well. I am still on puree until Monday and have to eat much like the band. I am not in any hurry to get to solid foods and a little worried about how my body will handle it all. I would say the process is longer, takes 6 weeks before you can eat regular but it may take longer. I remember the band was easier when it came to drinking or eating because they don't fill for a few months. I am very careful about what I eat and when I do eat it takes me a long time to eat very little but I too realize how difficult it was it eat with the band. I hit a plateau for about 5 days (week 3 I hear this normal) but dropped weight today for a total of 17 pounds since surgery on Dec 15th. I think RNY is a much better way to go and I wish I would have just gotten it done way back in 2009 but I was not ready to give up NSAID's due to arthritis. Now I am hoping the weight loss with help more then the meds so I will feel better in the long run.

Found my way back here..
Thank you for your posts and updates. Your are an inspiration to me. I had first band in March 2008 and have gone through 2 slips and had RNY on Dec 15, 2014 and now 3 weeks post op and things are going well, just an adjustment as expected.

Revision to RNY from Lap Band: Starting over
I had my first band in March 2009, had 2 slips and removed this past May (lost 70 lbs) and gained a lot back while I waited for tummy to heal and a few other non related surgery's this year. Had RNY Dec 15th, so far things are going well for only 3 weeks out. Good luck on your journey!

Protein
I did buy a case from costco and it went bad (had big lumps in the shakes). I returned it for a full refund. I have brought these for years and have only had one bad case. Otherwise they should not be very thick and I would dilute them with Water or mile. Good luck.

Couldnt be happier with my second chance at life.
Today I started on my puree diet for 2 weeks and ended up having my first dumping syndrome. I did everything right so not sure what happened. I will try it again tomorrow and only take a few bites (chuck roast in the crook pot). I am going to take this one day at a time and pay attention to what my body is telling me. I hope my success is as good as yours, I am so impressed to read your post and not feel alone in this journey. Thank you again.

Help Please!
I have a desk job and took 2 weeks off. I go back on Monday and have low energy but think I will be fine. As a small firm they are not under the FMLA rules but I think a talk from the heart with your manager is your best bet. If you can get the surgery earlier in the month the better since taxes get busier towards the end January. Good luck!

Protein
I use Premier Protein shakes from costco (chocolate and 1 gram sugar), 30 grams of protein and only 160 calories and they travel well.

Lower stomach is still very swollen and sore. Anyone had this?
Yes it happened to me but is now gone (12 days out) - there were parts that were very large and sore. I had to laugh about it -who knew!

Can you ever eat "Normal" food again?
I am only 12 days out from surgery but I have a friend who is 2 years and she eats salads, hamburgers etc.. only just a few bites.. That is the difference. Her tummy is big so by the time she eats some salad and the burger shows up she only eats about 1/2 of it and takes it home to her hubby. She also is able to eat bread but chooses not to since she would rather eat the good stuff (unless it is really good bread ).

Couldnt be happier with my second chance at life.
Today I am 1 week out on a revision after 2 failed lap bands. My journey started in 2008 with my first band placed in March 2009 and slipped December that year. This past April I had another slip and had to have it removed. I had a few more surgeries in between in joint replacements but finally got my by pass last week. I have been dealing with nausea and had to make a trip into ER for IV fluids. All is well so far and I am looking forward to finally making progress on permanent weight loss without all hassle that comes with the band. Thank you so much for your post, it came at just the right time to know that I have made the best decision possible and that I too will be successful. Congratulations on your achievement, that is a wonderful gift.

I am up for a revision to RNY from band in about 2 months. I was wondering if you could give me an update on your progress and how things have turned out for you since you have been through a revision yourself. thanks!

Really nervous!
Just want to let you know that you are no alone. I had decided on the band because I take anti inflammatory drugs due to horrible arthritis. I won't be able to take them afterwards but I hope the weight loss will help with joint issues and pain. I have had 2 slipped bands (removed) and am now waiting for the bypass which will not happen until August since I had a total hip replacement (scheduled for 6 months) and need time for healing before another surgery. Remember the reason we did this in the first place, to lose weight and have a better life (joints and all). A friend of mine (who I met through this process) has been through the same (2 slips and bypass) and is doing amazing, never has issues with the bypass (other then stinky poop due to less intestine). We both agree we wish we had just done the bypass back in 2009. Hang in there, we will be better then fine once the healing is done. Just stay away from the empty calories - sugar and fat and white flour, and enjoy life!!! You can do this!
