  1. Congrats LadyT!!! I am in the same place! Do you ever pull those size 6s out of the dryer and think theres no way you will get into them or that they belong to one of the kids?
  2. Just ask and hopefully they have brochures of all their stats...I would only go to a bariatric surgeon who has done a ton of these...I wouldnt go to a doc who mainly makes his living taking out gall bladders. Mine even gave me a sheet of their complication rate which for LB was zero...he sews your band in place and has never had a slip or an erosion and he has never had a port flip...for the port he uses a mesh which really keeps it stable. He had one complication on a gastric bypass but at least the patient didnt die...good luck!
  3. I had braces as an adult and I dont see how they affect how much or how you chew your food.
  4. First if you cant get food down go back to liquids. If you can get all your liquids and protein in liquid form dont rush to an unfill. Yes, the effects of fills sometimes show up late and no one knows why. My point is I am guessing you are obese since we all are or were at the beginning...sooooo, yes you need fluid and protein to live but you really dont need solid food. It will loosen up as you lose weight. The tightness does change quite a bit depending on body fluid related to time of day, an illness, menstrual issues etc...
  5. i feel for her but its not that she just recently "came to terms with it"...it came out to the media and she had to fess up. I sure dont blame her for the obesity epidemic though! I dont like how she plays it off like its caused by so many factors...it is rarely anything besides a disease of the overfed!
  6. I dont mean to sound mean but you can get blocked from this site for having advertisement on you posts...one person who hits the 'report' button can do it! I have seen others have that happen.
  7. 10 gramms in one shake is pretty thin...depending on the calories! Like I said my costco ones have 30 and only 160 calories...no weird taste but not quite as sweet as the Special K.
  8. Well I am 5'4" and at 220 I was an 18...so I would guess about 15 pounds per inch of height so an 18 for you maybe 235...you dont have to be exact...
  9. Oh, I eat fish but no other meat so I do live on beans and some tofu.
  10. I am tight in the morning and mainly vegetarian so I have a protein shake every morning (premier protein from Costco 30gms for 160 cals). I was told your minimum need is half of your ideal weight so mine is 140 pounds so I need at least 70 grams a day. Most food you are eating should be protein though so what real food are you eating?
  11. Welcome! You will get lots of support and straight talk here...best decision I ever made and wish I could have done it sooner!
  12. No comorbs so I had to self pay...but I got my band so I would live long enough to be elderly! I guess if I needed more calories when I'm old they just unfil it..not really sure what you are asking?
  13. 1. add protein powder to all your soups (GNC unflavored, one scoop is 22gms I think). 2. Maybe more beans (refried non fat) 3. I use Premier Protein shakes from Costco which are 30 gms protein and 160 cals...even 2.5 years out I drink one almost every day!
  14. How many people do you know that lost their excess weight on Weight Watchers (or any other diet) and have kept it off? Seriously, diet alone has a long term success for like 5% of poeple. I have failed every diet and my band is the best thing I ever did!
  15. You are still healing.
  16. I think the body makes a lot of saliva and mucus to protect you esophagus when you are sick...
  17. Mine never came back but during bandster hell (after you are banded but not filled yet to green zone of restriction) it is really a struggle to lose or even keep your weight the same! But once you are in the zone...its awesome...you do have to be patient.
  18. Agree, LOVE my band! I was obese for almost 20 years and every diet made it worse....
  19. I drink a Premier Protein from Costco every morning and I am two and a half years out...they are better tasting and more protein than the Special K. They are 30 grams of protein and only 130 or 160 calories...They come in choc or vanilla and you can order the strawb. They come in a case of 18 for around $27 at Costco...
  20. Hang in there...in a way this is your last diet ever!
  21. I have gotten stuck many times (i guess i'm a slow learner) but at first it was very painful and a feeling of panic and then later I was uncomfortable and could just yak it up easily. I have learned how not to do that any more but it took a while,
  22. Ok thanks Alex you are seeming real to me now. Someone named Ken I think fixed my photos and I think he may be real too...
  23. Me neither...my doc just said lose 10 and I lost 8 and he was happy.
  24. I get that and now I take Protonix...just like I did years ago for reflux...It controls the symptoms (critically important) but lets me keep my band tight enough to maintain...
  25. I am guessing a more invasive surgery would have been better for you...weight watchers is very unlikely to work in the long term...
