Wierd Stuck Episode
Yes it is not fun. I would suggest that you are extra careful how and what you eat when you are at work.

Wierd Stuck Episode
I've been stuck on tinned salmon before. Not pretty, especially as I was teaching at the time and had to keep leaving the class to run to the bathroom.

Fills And Pain
I don't understand, if you are too tight then why are you getting more fills?

Lap Band Vs C-Section
I've had both and recovered quickly after both types of op. I also had a hysterectomy last year and was up and about really quickly after that too so maybe I am just lucky and recover quickly.

Need Help. 5 Years Post-Op
The bad news is that if you don't go back to your Dr then it is unlikely that you are going to be able to utilise the band the way in which it is intended. It would have been like buying a new car 5 years ago, never servicing it or putting petrol in and still expecting it to run perfectly - it just doesn't happen. You may as well pick a diet, any diet that you think you can stick to and try that. Eat fresh unprocessed foods, cut out the junk and Snacks and make sure not to drink your calories. And the other thing to do is exercise. If you really want to be able to work your band properly then I suggest you try and find a way to cover the cost of the Dr's visit. Is there something you can give up for a couple of weeks that would enable you to save the money?e.g. Could you walk or cycle to work( that would save money and give you exercise.

Vomiting, Not Pbing
You were lucky that you were able to vomit. I drank too much a couple of months after being banded. Woke up in the middle of the night and tried to make myself vomit as usually that would help to make me feel better quicker. Needless to say i couldn't. It was the most horrible feeling. The positive part of that is I now try extra hard not to imbibe too much alcohol as I know how awful I will end up feeling. Hopefully your band is OK> I would baby it for a few days to give it a break and hopefully let it settle.

Unfill Needed???
After each fill it can take time to relearn how and what to eat. Make sure that you are following the rules carefully. Small bites, chew thoroughly, wait between bites etc. If you are still having problems then take a look at what you are eating. Maybe you are trying to eat foods that will no longer agree with your band. Experiment a little e.g You might find that dry white chicken breast gets stuck but nice moist thigh meat doesn't. If you are trying to eat steak or pork chops you might want to try swapping those for burgers and moist roasts or pot roasts or fooded cooked in a crockpot. If you after doing all this you are still having problems then maybe you do need a little taken out.

The Top 10 List of Things You Need to Know about Gastric Band Surgery
I like 7 & 8. I also think that this should be made compulsory reading. Maybe when you sign up for LBT there should be a button which says I have read this before it lets you join.

Stuck
If you are on a high Protein low carb diet then it is understandable that you may not want to eat them, but if you are not then you should not be scared off them. Potatoes are a natural food. Not something that have been processed to remove the goodness. It is possible to take the no white food rule too far. I think the intention with this was originally to exclude processed foods but there are quite a few foods in nature that are white. The ones that spring to mind straight up are:- onions potatoes garlic cauliflower parsnips Got stuck so I googled and found this Remember, not all white foods are created equal. Stick to natural white foods such as cauliflower, white Beans, apples, pears, turnips, garlic, white cabbage, cucumbers, white onions, fermented tofu, bean sprouts, egg whites, white meat chicken, turkey, endive, white meat tuna or other white fish as well as white low fat yogurt, white low fat/fat free cheeses or low fat/fat free soy milk. Research shows that eating white fleshed fruits and vegetables 2-4 servings a day, can cut stroke risk; that is related to quercetin, a flavonol antioxidant. See, there are lots of white foods to still enjoy! Eat them and stay healthy!

Lap Band Chest X-Ray
That would depend on whether or not your port is situated in your chest.

No Counting! No Homework!
I don't count. One of the reasons I got the band was so that I could give up what I considered to be dieting. I lost all my weight by just eating smaller portions . I have gained a couple of pounds recently and keep trying to find the motivation to lose them again. I want to lose between 4 - 6lbs. I have tried using My Fitness Pal and it is probably great if you exist solely on preprepared foods. But when You cook it is a PITA. I mean seriously who wants to weigh and measure every ingredient that they put into a recipe, my style of cooking is more just chuck in whatever I think might taste good. I know lots of people have had a lot of success with journalling and swear by it but I do think it is possible to be successful without it.

Stuck
I am tired of potatoes getting a bad rap. They are not empty, they are really nutritious. Check what is in them ttp://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2770/2 One of the most important minerals that they contain is potassium. This is a mineral that people can easily lack and low levels can cause all sorts of issues with heart rate etc. I have had to drink a potassium supplement before after ending up in emergency - it tasted awful and there were other places I would much rather have been. So not all white foods are worthless.

That's fantastic , especially as you are only a couple of months in. Well done

Lap Band Friendly Veggies?
Now you list corn as a safe veggie and I know that gives a lot of people trouble. It is very fibrous. Which basically means that you have to figure these things out for yourself as what works for someone else may not work for you and vice versa.

Colonoscopy Prep?
You can still drink after you are banded. So long as you remember to breath in-between swallows you will be fine. I had to drink 2 glasses of horrible licorice flavoured goo before having a CT scan and that was just minutes after having a partial unfill under flouro as I had a major blockage. It tasted gross but it was easy enough to drink.

Newbies: Please Read This!!!
Ok then I must have something seriously wrong with me. I have been banded 3 years and I still make mistakes. I can be cruising along fine and then BAM something gets stuck for no apparent reason. Yes it was probably too big a bite or not chewed well enough or whatever but it would have been no different than the ones I took the day, the week, the month before. It might all sound really easy but mistakes do still happen.

How Long Can My Lapband Last?
Theoretically a lifetime but in practice some parts may need replacing before then. It is possible that the "balloon" part may become less effective from constantly be stretched, a bit like a balloon that has been blown up a couple of times. If that happens then not a major problem they can replace it or if a newer better surgery is available at that point you may choose to revise to that. Most prosthetics whether they be knees, hips or heart valves do seem to eventually need to be replaced.

Bored With Liquid Diet Choices!!!
I got through it using Soup. Good wholesome, homemade Soups. All you have to do is cook your veggie of choice in some stock and then blend to a suitable consistency. Adding things like Beans, lentils, chickpeas ups the Protein content. You can add herbs and spices and give them as much or as little flavour as you want. Much tastier and more satisfying than those horrible sweet Protein shakes that taste nothing like food.

Advanced Banster Question: Is There Any Recourse If Your Mexican Doctor Messes Up?
Sounds like you are concerned about going to Mexico. If I was feeling the same way I think I would rethink my decision and find a DR that I felt comfortable with that was in my home country.

Swollen And Painful Foot
Not sure what it is but I am pretty sure that it is not your band! Why did you have the doppler, what else has been going on?
- Pb County?

Question?
You should be fine swallowing them so long as you take them with plenty of water. However the "gas" that causes postop pain is not in your digestive system so the gas X do not work (some swear by them so this could be a placebo effect). The gas is gas that was pumped into your abdominal cavity to make it easier for the surgeon to work. The best thing for this pain is prescription pain meds and lots of walking.

Question
Confused about staples. Where are your staples? Generally there is nothing to be removed after your surgery. Most Drs use dissolving stitches and/or glue

Finally- Success!
Well done. Good luck with the unfill, I never found that one was necessary for maintenance. The longer you are banded the more it seems you can eat things that you couldn't before.
