  1. hi Trish Sorry to hear that this happened but glad it's an easy fix. Congrats too on being so close to goal.
  2. I would contact your surgeon ASAP. You don't say what the food was that caused you to throw up but it is possible that your band has slipped. Hopefully you were following your dr's dietary requirements for that stage. If you were it would seem strange that you brought back the whole meal. However vomiting once you have a band is dangerous and it can cause the band to slip, especially this early on when the stitches etc are still new. The fact that you haven't been able to get Water or anything else down would also seem to indicate a slip. I hope that everything is OK but you really do need to see your Dr ASAP.
  3. There are lots of them. Generally I take posts like these with a great big pinch of salt. You do have to wonder though why they do it and what they get out of it.
  4. It tends to get easier once you have been stuck! It also helps if you don't allow yourself to get too hungry as that is when we tend to rush our food and have problems.
  5. I think pasta would be by far the safer and easier option.
  6. I'm surprised that you aren't allowed veg. Mushy veg are easy to eat and really good for you. I survived on mashed pumpkin, carrots, beans etc. Can't imagine not being allowed to eat them!
  7. There is no such thing as ONLY! I have less fill than this and have been banded a year. Different people require different levels to achieve restriction. 4cc as a first fill is actually quite a lot! I would follow Mimi's advice but if you are still having problems do not hesitate to go back to your Dr. You do need to be able to eat.
  8. It sounds as though you may have some kind of stomach bug. I would do what they normally advise when you have something such as gastro. Stay hydrated and avoid food.If that doesn't help then go and see your Dr. Use Clear liquids not Protein shakes because if it is a stomach bug the lactose in them is likely to just aggravate it.
  9. I'm not an expert I just know it is commonly implicated as the cause of a lot of stomach ulcers. If you do an internet search you should be able to find more info. it seems like it is something that is worth having checked out.
  10. Is it maybe from working out/ You may have pulled or twisted or just done something a bit harder or a bit different to usual and that could have caused it.
  11. If you think you are having a heart attck you should go to emergency immediately. Never mess around with chest pain. (It is quite common if you are stuck to feel chest pain but if this had happened you would know that it was because you were stuck as the pain would be immediate). Better to be safe than sorry.
  12. It does sound like they have overfilled you. Going back to the Dr is a good idea. In the meantime try sucking ice chips - it may help to reduce the swelling.
  13. no its not too soon. Lots of Dr's do monthly fills until you reach restriction so 2 months is actually quite a long time.
  14. I think you will find it is grammar not grammer!
  15. If you go onto the sleeve board you will be able to read the threads from people that are sleeved.Get the info from those with experience. It makes interesting reading.
  16. I have had a small amount taken out at my Dr's office and it was exactly the same as having a fill. It didn't hurt at all. It sounds as though your Dr's practice has a very aggressive fill routine. My total fill is less than you had in your first fill and I have sufficient restriction! Its amazing how things differ from practice to practice and country to country.
  17. Maybe you have an intolerance to something in the protein shake. Food intolerances cause symptoms such as nausea, bloating gas etc .
  18. I would suggest the opposite. Try sucking crushed ice, it should help to reduce the swelling.
  19. Hope this clears up soon.
  20. Just wondering if something such as H Pylori might be the cause. I was looking it up after reading something about erosion. This is one of the things I found. Gastritis and Dyspepsia The symptoms are discomfort, bloating, nausea and perhaps vomiting. The person may also have symptoms that suggest ulcers - burning or pain in the upper abdomen, usually occurring about an hour or so after meals or even during the night. The symptoms are often relieved temporarily by antacids, milk, or medications that reduce stomach acidity. Yet, the physician does not find an ulcer when the patient is tested by x-ray or endoscopy. When H. pylori is found in the stomach, it is tempting to believe that it is the cause of the symptoms, although this connection is not yet clear cut. The physician will usually prescribe antibiotic therapy to see if clearing the infection relieves symptoms. It might be worth getting tested to see if this bacteria is present.
  21. It seems as though the foods listed are the ones people are commonly told to avoid if they have an ulcer. I could be wrong but I thought that it was no longer believed that ulcers are CAUSED by these foods. I thought that in the majority of cases it is believed to be the H Pylori bacteria that causes the ulcer and that these foods aggravate it. I wonder if in erosion it is being caused by these foods or if again the patient has H pylori? I am sure that everything in moderation is fine. I would think (but i am not a DR) that it would take excessive amounts of coffee, alcohol etc to cause this type of problem. Especially as liquids do not generally stay in the pouch - they go straight through so are more likely to contribute to problems in the lower portion of the stomach.
  22. I always start the day with a nice hot cup of tea(preband as well) and I very rarely have problems eating breakfast. I can't imagine not having my tea - it is more important than food first thing . LOL. When I have had to go for fasting blood tests it is the not having my cup of tea that I struggle with more than no food. Warm liquids do help to relax your band. However if you get stuck it is better to suck ice chips as they help to reduce swelling.
  23. Welcome back Elfie, I was wondering what had happened to you. You seem to be doing really well, Congratulations.
