Anti-Semitism In France!
Well, the only one I remember reading that from was TOM. Did I miss someone else?

Anti-Semitism In France!
Yes, I do.

Anti-Semitism In France!
I do. He's not the kind of man I expected to marry, but we are a great fit.

Anti-Semitism In France!
No one here has said anything about you changing your beliefs.

how long was your hospital stay?
Many of us didn't stay at all. Some people stay overnight, depending on things like insurance requirements or medical conditions. I was at the surgery center at noon, home in my own bed by 6:30 that night.

Anti-Semitism In France!
I agree. I was thinking about this over the weekend during a converstation with my husband. He had a situation in a baseball league he is in, and thought someone was lying. It's a pattern with him, he tends to jump to conclusions, and assumes the worst. Which I think 1)causes him undue stress and 2)leads him to treat people as though they have done what he suspects, which gets him the reaction he deserves. So, I said to him "you know, you may be right. But I've noticed sometimes you do tend to convince yourself that the worst possible explaination is the right one before you have all the facts. Why not tell yourself that it was an honest mistake, until you have proof it wasn't? I think you'll feel a lot better about it. I love you and want you to be at peace". And he listened, and it turns out that it was simply an honest mistake. Now, I could have said "Oh don't be stupid. You always do this, and make yourself miserable and you are often wrong. Just knock it off and shut up already." More or less the same message, right? Which would you rather hear?

Do you have to have it removed sooner or later?
I tend to agree. I think she's using that as an excuse to have it taken out.

Do you have to have it removed sooner or later?
There seems to be some debate about this, and the band's website doesn't say, but I don't think the 10 year thing is valid. From what I've read, the band is made out of the same materials they use for replacement joints, and I know people who have had their hips or knees for more then 10 years. Yes, they do sometimes wear out, but the band doesn't get the stress and wear a joint would. Let us know what your doctor has to say.

Fill per Month
I don't think there can be a "rule" about how often to have a fill. From my own experience, and what I've read, it's highly personal.

I completely respect your right to believe as you want to. I even agree with much of what you believe.

E-pen anyone?
OK, maybe I should have asked before I went and bought one, but here goes. I have gone from a few hairs on my chin that I could keep up with by plucking to having enough that I've started shaving. And getting a 5 o'clock shadow. I even had a co-worker ask how I bruised my chin. Professional treatments are pretty pricy, esp. since we are paying off our surgeries. I was in Sharper Image yesterday, and saw this E-pen. It's an at-home Electrolysis system. It was about $70, and so I got it. Used it yesterday and it didn't hurt at all and was easy to use. They say to do 3 treatments a week for something like 90 days, since it only can destroy the follical at certain points in the growth cycle. So, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried one of these and how well it works.

Then don't be surprised when other people don't respect your beliefs, esp. when they don't share them.

Sushi?
That's a great idea! We have a sushi bar we go to often enough that they know us, I'm sure they would if I asked.

I have addressed that. I haven't remained silent on this thread, I just don't agree with your view of what happened.

discouraged after my first fill
I'm having my 6th fill next Monday. The first couple really didn't change anything for me as far as how I felt. By the 4th one, I did feel restriction for a while, same with the 5th. It's just been in the last few weeks I haven't been feeling the same restriction, so back I'm going. I think it's very normal to need more then 1-2 fills to really start getting the benefit of our bands. SO, yes it will pass. You sound very normal to me.

Psych Evaluation by Surgeon's Psych
I had to meet with one. My surgeon recommended one they work with, but it wasn't required I meet with her, I could have picked anyone. I choose to meet with her since I didn't know of anyone else. I would meet with her, since she does know a lot about WLS and what to look for. Then, if she for some reason says you aren't a good candidate you can say that the psychiatrist you are seeing thinks you are and work from there.

Anti-Semitism In France!
I'm not BJean, but let me make this point. You are frustrated, well I am too, and I suspect BJean may be for the same reason I am. We watch you, a fellow Christian, turn people away from the God we love. Not by your message, which is much the same as ours, but by how you delivers it. Neither of us have been ridiculed for our faith, and we aren't the only Christians on this thread who have not supported what you are doing. Please consider thinking about that, and why it might be so.

My beliefs are based on the Word of God as well. I've reacted negatively to you, so what do you think my motivation may have been?

Should the wife come??
Yep - I agree with the other posters. She should go with you.

Do you still enjoy food the same?
Not for me it isn't. In fact I find I enjoy my food much more then I used to. I think there are a couple of reasons for it. One, since I have to chew so much more carefully, I'm actually tasting the food. Enjoying it's texture. Savoring it. Two, I think I used to scarf down as much food as I could, before my guilt at eating it kicked in. Now, I know what I "should" eat and how much, and I can relax and enjoy it. I like the term "mindful eating".

Given your "grumpy old man" comment, I find this a bit hypocritical.

Hum, I'm openly Christian, and I don't feel attacked. Never have.

George Bush: Worst American president in history
He did attend a Muslim school for two years while living with his family in Indonesia. He wasn't a Muslim from what I read, it was just the best school in the area at the time. I think he was about nine or ten. He attends a Christian Church now. Let me look for a link... http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp There are more out there. Bottom line, from everything I've read, this rumor is nothing more then an attempt to smear him by playing on fear.

Anti-Semitism In France!
I also think we need to remember that we who are still hanging out posting to this thread had time to work it out and calm down. Gadgetlady came in and was catching up. So I think it's worth cutting her a little slack. And figure we are all back on the same page now. I personally love converstations like this. I learn a lot from them.
