Things are different on the east coast then it sounds like. Here, there are many VERY politically outspoken pastors. Who are very happy to tell their followers who to vote for, and how to vote on what issues.

I make my lattes at home also, I bought a cheap little Mr. Coffee espresso maker. Something like $30 at Target. It makes passable Lattes, I do about 2/3 steamed non-fat milk, the rest the espresso, and then some sugar-free syrup. There is a chocolate one I really like, not too sweet and a good falvor.

Yep, most flavored lattes are made with syrup. But there are several flavors of sugar-free out there, DH loves a vanilla latte with sugar-free syrup. I don't know what choices DD has, but ask around.

OK, but how will we know when that point has been reached? What will that look like? What benchmarks do we look for?

What will winning look like? It's a serious question, not being snarky. What milestones have to be reached for you to say "we win and can bring our troops home?"

My "official" answer is to always follow your doctors orders! That said, I've eaten a light dinner after a fill. Softer foods. Never had any problems.

I just got a call from my best friend, I've know her since we were 16. 27 years now. Her mother died this morning. She'd been sick for a while with lung problems, went into the hospital on Monday. Yesterday she was doing a little better, but took a bad turn. My friend lost her father about 10 years ago and we've talked a bit about being an "orphan" even as adults. It hasn't yet hit me that I've lost someone I loved, I've been focusing on how my friend and her family are. It will soon I know.

Not really. If the laws are based on Biblical principals, it would follow that the ones thought most important would be represented. Most of the 10 commandments are not. So logically, either they aren't that important, or the law isn't really based on Biblical pricipals.

So you don't think the 10 commandments are all that important as Biblical principals? I personally think there are principals in the Bible that are there to keep us from harming each other. It was those that I think look like a lot of our laws, but I don't believe it was a religous thing, I simply think it's about protecting our selves from each other.

Stories like this break my heart, I'm sorry for what you've gone through. I've asked other Christians how they would feel if someone said "My God says being married to someone of the opposite sex is a sin, so I am going to demand you divorce right now"? I don't think I've ever gotten a good answer to that. Just know that not all of us want the laws to reflect our own personal beliefs.

So where in our laws are we required to have no Gods before God? Where are we prohibitied from worshiping idols? Where are we made to honor our mothers and fathers? What is the penality for taking the Lord's name in vain?

OK, you do win the "bad in-laws" prize! Once mine got over the fact I wasn't the type of woman they expected their son to marry, they have been fine. My favorite was my future FIL telling his son that he thought I was a gold-digger. Hum, I lived in a condo I owned. I had a decent job, making about twice what his son did. I must be the worst gold-digger ever born... :faint:
