Well, I got my first fill on March 8th so it's been about a week and a half. I'm really disappointed because I'm not feeling much restriction at all - just sometimes. I am exercising really good. I've been getting in 60 - 75 minutes per day 6 days a week on my elliptical machine. After about 20 minutes my toes go numb! My doc says I need to add some weight training in and I know I do but getting to the wellness center is another story! Guess I better make more of an effort! I was able to maintain a 13 lb. weight loss my first month but don't feel like I've made any more progress :scared2: - I don't like that! Well, just gotto hang in there and hope that the weight drops off anyway!

  3. Welcome Jodi! I was banded March 13th and so far I have to say it has been the best decision I could have made. I've lost 15 pounds in my first 10 days and I'm sooo looking forward to getting about a month down the road. If you're not sure or nervous, just pray about it. I know I couldn't have done it on my own - I've been trying to ten years! Good luck to you and keep us posted!
  4. It's been 10 days since my surgery and I've lost about 15 lbs. I know the weight loss will start slowing down now but I will forge onward! I started walking Saturday and have managed to walk every day so far. I'm not scheduled for my first fill until April 8th. That seems so far away. I'm so scared that I will eat too much and not lose the weight like I want to. Guess I'd just better be really careful and try to stick to the diet. It's hard to get in 50 grams of protein and enough fiber! Any suggestions on getting the protein in? Thanks and good luck to all!

  6. Welcome Charmingly Southern! It's great that your still so mobile and no diabetes! I was banded March 13th and have lost about 15 lbs. My starting weight was 211. I'm not trying to get super skinny - I just don't want to be miserable anymore. Congrats on getting going and Good Luck! Keep us posted!
  7. Just hang in there! I was self-pay so I was able to get everything done in about two weeks. If your insurance is paying, it will take longer. I just got my band Friday, March 13th, and so far everything is going well. I'm down about 7 lbs already. It is a little tough but not real bad. I just hope that it stays that way! Let us know when you get your surgery and how your progressing. Good Luck!
  8. Hello! I have a huge sweet tooth. Not just for chocolate but anything sweet - especially in the evenings. I just got banded Friday, March 13th, so I may be jumping the gun by answering your post. So far... so good! I haven't had any temptations to eat anything sweet at all. Being on the diet isn't that hard. It's a little tough watching your family eat good food - Sunday I made them a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, onions, gravy and hot rolls - but believe it or not, I wasn't hungry for it. Everyone is different and I hope that I am able to keep abstaining! I DO think having the band was one of the best decisions I've made so far. I just can't wait til I'm about a month down the road to see how I'm holding up! Good luck!
  9. I was banded in Dallas, Texas and was a self pay. They have a deal where you get pre-op, surgery and some post-op care for $9990.00 and financing is available. That's what I had to do since my insurance wouldn't cover it. They also don't require a few things like a psychological exam when your self pay. That helps save a little $$$. So far, everyone has been great!

Pharmagirl, when is your surgery scheduled? I just had mine Friday, March 13th, and I'm really excited! Down 6 lbs already! By the way - Love the list! I can relate to pretty much every point you've made! How about adding - I don't want to be the only fat girl at the family reunion this year! Good luck and keep us posted on your success!

Way to go! Keep up the good work! I'm three days out and it hasn't been too hard yet but I expect it will get harder. I just can't wait to see where I am in a month!

Way to go KEtlinger! If you don't mind me asking, what size were you when you started two months ago? I just got my band Friday, March 13th, and I am a size 20 - I'm really short so I look even bigger! Keep up the good work!
  14. I was just banded on Friday, March 13th, in Plano by Dr. Manuel Castro. Here it is Monday and I am back at work already. Of course, I have a desk job so that makes it a little easier but it's about 3:40 p.m. and my back is starting to hurt a little. Things have gone really well the first couple of days (down 6 lbs already) and I am looking forward to getting about a month down the road! I'm just relieved that it is finally done!

I'm am new to lapbandtalk.com and look forward to reading everyone's posts. I am scheduled to have my surgery Friday, March 13th. What a day to have surgery - Friday, 13th! Haha! It's a good thing I'm not supersticious. I'm getting extremely excited as my surgery date approaches! I can't wait to get this weight off! My family goes to the Frio River to go tubing every summer and this is going to help make these trips so much more fun for me! I'd have to say I'm not nervous about the surgery but I am very nervous about the "diet" afterwards. I pray that I have the strength and desire to really stick with this and do it the right way! Wish me luck!

  17. My BMI is 37.4 and I was approved by TLC Edge Surgical Weight Loss out of Dallas. There are several others that will approve you if your BMI is over 35. Now - as for insurance... that's another story. It depends on your policy. Mine would not cover but it wouldn't even cover if I were morbidly obese. I have my surgery Friday, March 13th and am very excited!
