  1. How is everyone doing? How much weight have you lost? What has been the most exciting change? What has been frustrating? I am down 53 lbs since surgery. To me, I would like more. I have accepted that I am a slow loser. Currently I am in a two month stall. I track my food and exercise. I am doing everything that my doctor has told me to do. So, I am a little frustrated. I also have PCOS so that may be factoring in. On the plus side, I am only 5 lbs away from my lowest band weight! So my sleeve and I have accomplished in 7 months what it took me three years to do with the band. Plus, I love that I do NOT have that stuck feeling anymore!!! Overall it has been a wonderful experience. I am happy with my revision choice. I just wish I had done it sooner!!!

    Syracuse sleevers

I was sleeved in Syracuse on June 10, 2013! No issues to report. I feel great!
  5. One month post op today! Down 23 lbs!!!!!!

  6. With surgery just a few days away, I decided to write this post and PROMISE to post my immediate pre and post op experience. I have followed several "pre sleevers" only to have them stop posting once they had their surgeries. I get it. We all have lives and have those things that come up. I place no blame. But, I also know that there are others, who have upcoming surgeries, that will benefit from seeing the experience of others posted immediately. If I can calm the nerves of just one person, well then I would be happy. So to my fellow June Sleevers....... I promise to post my daily experience (God willling..... and I soooooo hope he is!) on this thread for the entire month of June. In closing, I hope you will join me on this journey. Cheers to a new you!!!!!!!

    Does insurance paid for revision?

I was a band to sleeve revision. I had no problems with my insurance company (and I even switched surgeons and hospitals). I had my removal and revision in one surgery on June 10th. The whole revision process took me 4 months. I had to have my physicians approval, blood work, an EKG and a new psych eval because my last one was in 2009.

    June 2013 Sleevers GROUP

I had 10 days of liquids,(jello & popsicles included) and then 2 weeks of soft foods. I will be a month out next week and I can resume a normal diet. I didn't have to do purees. I have had no intolerances, nausea, or vomiting. I was also told no baths or swimming pools for ten days post op. Isn't it crazy that we are all being told such different things?

    From Surgery - Week 1

My revision surgery was on June 10th 2013. I arrived at the hospital at 10 am. My surgery was was set to begin at noon. However due to an emergency, he was called away. We didn't get started until 1:45. I remember being rolled into the operating room. The next thing I remember was waking up in my room. It was 9:40 at night. Dr. Simon had no trouble removing my slipped lap-band and constructing my new sleeve. He was happy to report that I had little damage from the band. No hernias. Minimal scarring. At first I felt like I was hit by a train. But, the pain meds they gave me worked well and I slept throughout the night. The next morning I was up walking. I walked 1.5 miles. I passed my water test and was then brought my lunch. (Tea, chicken broth, and jello) I had minor discomfort. But I was exhausted. I slept most of the day. The following day I was released. I was sent home with a PPI and a pain med. Once home I put myself on a schedule and continued to sip sip sip. I have had no issues with my sleeve. It likes both hot and cold liquids. I also have had no nausea or gas pain. In fact, I felt so good that I stopped taking my pain meds after two nights at home. I just didn't need them. I am one week post op. I am down 14 lbs!!!!!!! I am on liquids until Wednesday. Then I get to move to mushies!!!! I can't wait to have some refried beans. I am not hunger but every time I see a Taco Bell commercial I crave Mexican. HEAD HUNGER!!!! (Oh and by the way..... I hate Taco Bell! But, if I don't get some real food soon I might just lick a taco shell!) Oh..... I forgot one major thing. I had an allergic reaction to the surgical glue. Very painful and itchy. My incision sites were all blistered up by day three. I have to take Benadryl around the clock. It is however, healing nicely. Well, I wish I had more to report. It has actually been pretty uneventful. May your surgery go as well as mine!

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I went to my first post op appointment today. I am down 16 lbs!!!!!!! I have been moved to a stage two diet. Basically it consists of soft foods. I was told to drink one Protein shake a day and eat three small meals with 64 oz of liquids in between. I was so excited. I went home and had 2oz of refried Beans with low fat cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. I topped it with a spoonful of fat free sour cream. While preparing I thought this looks like such a small amount. I put into a finger food sized bowl. It was DELICIOUS!!!!!! I had no trouble getting it down. And....... it filled me right up! It took me about 20 minutes to finish it. I paced myself. For dinner, I mashed up a banana and mixed it with creamy low fat Peanut Butter. Another winner!!!!!! I was so happy with myself that I even cooked dinner and sat with my family as they ate. I wasn't hungry one single bit! Every day just gets better and better!!! I am so glad that I decided on this revision. I went through such a hard time after my lapband slipped that I almost decided against another operation. So thankful for the support of my husband and family.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I am drinking Protein shakes by Chike. There are 28g of protein in 7oz. I am mixing in fat free milk for an additional 8 grams. That totals 72g in just two shakes!!!! I love love love the banana and orange creme flavors. I also enjoy the coffee one but can't have it yet post surgery. I also have EAS from Walmart but they are only 17g per 11oz.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I had a very good day! I snuck into work. (My Dr has me out for a month.) I am a teacher so I wanted to give my students their last report cards. Plus it was Activity Day. They were so happy to see me! I then went grocery shopping for stage 2 foods. I have a Dr appointment tomorrow and I should be moved up diet wise. I am not hungry but my tummy sounds angry. It keeps making these deep rumbling noises. It is ready to get some food! I had some egg drop Soup. Delicious!!!!!! I followed lunch up with a 1.5 mile walk. I feel 100% like myself!!!!!!!
  13. One week post-op and down 14 lbs!!!!!!!

    June sleevers?

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I had my surgery six days ago. I continue to do well. I continue to get in all of my protein and liquids. I have no hunger. I stopped all of my pain meds. I don't need them. This maybe be too much info....but I have moved my bowels three times. I have no issues with gas or diarrhea. Even my allergic reaction is clearing up. All in all life is good.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

Well I am already three days post op. I continue to do well. I have no hunger. I am able to get in all my fluids and protein. I just set myself up a schedule and sip sip sip all day. I am still tired but not as much as yesterday. I have mild pain when changing position from laying to standing. My big problem is that I have developed an allergy to the surgical glue. My whole tummy is red and inflamed. Some spots are blistered. Ice packs help. I have to call in the am to see if I can take some Benedryl for the itch. Other than that it has been smooth sailing. I am so lucky. Because I was a band to sleeve revision, there was a greater chance for complications. I really thought it would be much worse.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I have been at home since about 2pm. Very tired and a little sore. I keep icing my left hand side incisions. It seems to help. I have to keep getting up to go to the bathroom. It is starting to get annoying. I just want to sleep. But all the trips help with the walking. I am now passing gas. I have been sipping on water, diluted raspberry juice, chicken broth, and a chocolate protein shake. All go down well. I am hesitant with the Percocet. It gave me a really weird dizzy out if it feeling. I am trying to manage pain with extra strength Tylenol. If the pain gets worse or I become restless I will have to break down and take the Percocet during the night.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I was given Percocet last night due to my vicodin allergy. I slept soooo good. I have no pain at all. I have 5 tiny incisions with a drain. I am getting released as we speak. I can't wait to get home and sleep in my own bed. I am tolerating everything well. I had tea, beef broth, and jello for breakfast. I will keep in touch once I am home. Trying to get in all my fluids will be tough. I am just so tired. Gotta find a way to stay awake so I can stay hydrated. Have a good day all!

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

It has been a very good day. I have walked 1.5 miles. I got moved to my stage 1 diet. I have had chicken broth, jello, iced tea, and popsicles. I have little to no pain nor nausea. This has been way better than I prepared myself for. Hopefully I will go home in the am. I wish that your surgeries all go as smoothly as mine.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

Up and moving. My pain is minimal. I would say a 2 out of 10. I have had three medicine cups full if water. I have three more to go. If I keep those down without issues I can move to broth, juice, and popsicles. Yeah! So far so good. I actually feel better after this surgery than I did following by two lapband ones.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

Thoughts for today Thursday June 6th. Just 4 days away!!!! So, I don't have a pre-op diet but I have been cutting back for about a month already. I soooooo miss my Dunkin Donuts caramel iced coffee! I almost had a moment of weakness today but, I drove by and settled for my Chike banana Protein shake. I have so much to do before surgery. I am not really worried about the surgery itself but rather getting everything ready that my family will need while I am recovering. (I am a bit OCD.) I also started preping this morning with the special soap my surgeon gave me. I also continue to take my Vitamins plus my self added Biotin. It helped tremendously with my hair regrowth after my lapband surgery. I keep forgetting to take measurements and my before pics. I HAVE TO DO THIS THIS WEEKEND!!!
