  8. I agree with Fiddleman....here's a pic of one. There are other styles/models as well.
  9. Who told you that you "need" more calories? Maybe they'll provide you with suggestions. If I wanted to get in more calories and was limited on solid food choices,...I'd do a Protein shake or liquid Protein. I've never been told I needed MORE calories to lose weight though. ..
  10. I was on Clear Liquids only, basically zero calories, a week pre and a week post op. Not sure of any amount of calories, but I am positive it would have been less than one HUNDRED per day. But each surgeon has their own protocol.
  11. I was banded in Sept of 2009...I have lost about 135 lbs...and have not had ANY band caused problems. So you could say I'm a happy bandster!
  12. 13.11 miles running today. My first half marathon distance. Nice easy pace today. 10:03 min/mile http://connect.garmin.com/activity/453326810
  13. Bandarella, I wish you well in your continued success and thanks for the info!

  16. 5 km run for me this afternoon.
  17. Congrats! It just keeps getting better and better!
  18. I was really lucky with that I suppose...compared to what I hear on here at least! I had next to no surgical gas pain...almost could say none. But I did took my pain script's......and walked a lot! Some people on here will tell you to take gas-x, etc for the surgical gas pain. I don't understand that....I don't think that gas is in your digestive tract....so, not sure how that'd help. But, if it works for them.....thats all that matters.
  19. I have a ninja....and LOVE IT! I use it for my homemade Protein smoothies. SO easy and quick... I use one scoop of Protein Powder ( bodylogix natural whey chocolate ), half or whole banana, some ice, and about a cup of almond milk. Sometimes I'll add PB2 or even real peanut butter. Over Valentines day, I even added a couple chocolate covered strawberries...
  20. For me, I started walking on a treadmill soon after surgery. In my home. I did this for about a year or so....SLOWLY increasing the time and speed until I was going at a fast walk with a small amount of incline. That got boring as HECK for me after several months. But it was certainly beneficial. Then, I had a friend talk me into trying cycling.....and after finding the correct bike for me, I WAS/AM hooked! It is something I enjoy....hard to describe how good it makes me feel. And as a bonus, the cardio benefits I got from cycling were nothing short of amazing. I've read articles that say "cycling leads to running".....and I now agree. I run now, in addition to cycling, because I can. I'd suggest just doing what you enjoy and can tolerate. Don't worry about some musclehead in a gym, or some Zumba queen/king in some class being farther along in the fitness level. THEY DIDN"T START OUT LIKE THAT! I'll post an article below that describes various aerobic exercises from the authors point of view....take it for what its worth. http://drsimpson.net..._comparison.htm I use the following paragraph from this article often...to remind myself. "Einstein didn't think he was intelligent, because as his intellect expanded so did his ability to comprehend how much there is to know. Exercise works the same way. As you become fit, you become more aware of higher standards of fitness. Identifying yourself in the scale of being fit can be the cause of depression that will cause you to quit. You must not think about a future state of fitness you want to obtain. You must only think of physical motion in the moment. You must develop sets of physical motion without setting a goal of obtainment. You just do it as a ritual. You don't think about the time involved. You don't become over exhilarated. You just do it." You can get to where you want to be...you just have to start. Best wishes!!! and never ever give up.
  21. I've got one of those fancy juicers you see on the movie "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead"..... Breville is the brand. It works well....but I don't use it much. I did for a while...until the new wore off of it. There are many different brands of 100% juice and Protein smoothies at the supermarkets/quick shops everywhere now a days. Naked, Bolthouse farms, Odwalla to name a few. What I have found for me, is that the time/costs required to make my own aren't worth it. I don't have my own garden, so that might be different if I did. Even going to a farmers market and buying in bulk, its hard to beat the price of the ready to drink ones....and there are some that are NON-gmo, no artificial ingredients, all natural. There's MANY, MANY different flavors and mixes of fruit and veggies. Some with added protein. Just juices...fruit and/or veggie, don't keep me satisfied like Protein Drinks do. I still use it occasionally, but add some Liquid Protein to them. I would probably not buy another one....I'm just lazy I suppose.
  22. 5km "recovery" run this morning. Nice easy pace.
  23. Laissez les bons temps rouler!!! Hurricanes and Mudbugs tomorrow.
  24. 20 km run today...my longest thus far. Getting ready to do a HM next month. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/448787249 AND IT ALL STARTED WITH ONE! No matter where you are in the fitness ranks....NEVER, ever give up. NO one...NO one, NO one starts out by being fit. Its a process. You Just do what you can do...and then you do it again..and again. 100% true statement here... My goal was 19km at a 10 min pace today. As I started today, I didn't know if I would get through the first 5k....my mind just wasn't ready.....THEN, some good music came on, remembering where I was 7 months ago tomorrow ( my first run in 20+ years), and remembering some of the motivation from this site from several different folks. Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend....I'm going to!
