diet before approval?
My Dr used my pre-diet weight. I started dieting as soon as I decided on this method - even prior to my family Dr consult. I just want to be healthy and was bound to get there whatever way possible. That being said, I am really happy there will be no more yo-yo'ing.

A little over 3 days....
I think that it is normal to be nervous and excited. I am getting banded on Thursday so not too far behind you. Good luck, stay strong and speedy recovery!!!

I have my op date!!!!
Thanks. I think the reason why I have done so well thus far is because I know at the end there will be no more yo-yo'ing. That means more than words can say.

I have my op date!!!!
I am so excited. I called the Centre today and I will be banded next Thursday the 23rd at 11 am. WOOHOO!!!!! I have to start the pre-op diet tomorrow morning and continue until the op. I was surprised at how much was on the diet. I am allowed tuna packed in water, skinless/boneless chicken breast, sole, veggies, yogurt, cottage cheese, omelettes. I can use shakes for a snack if I wish. I cannot believe that by next week this time I will have already been banded.

?? for those who worked out prior to being banded
Did you have a problem with energy or nausea while on your pre-op and post op diets? The reason why I ask is that I work out now approx 5 times per week.....2 - 3 times swimming and 3 times on the crossramp for 1 hr each. I really don't want to stop but I am afraid of lack of energy or nausea if I am super hungry. Thanks in advance for your replies.

What do you tell your kids?
I will probably tell my daughter when I have it done. She is 5 yrs old and very wise. Also, she knows that Mommy is dieting and trying to be healthy.

what should i do??
I vote against gaining weight just to be approved. What time is your appt? If it is in the afternoon then we normally weigh more then than first think in the morning. Maybe just have a meal just befor eyou go and drink lots. Good luck!

This feels amazing
Ditto!! I have a whole new outlook on weightloss. I am still awaiting funding but have already lost 30 lbs...mainly because I know that they will not be "found" again a few months down the road.

Was anyone banded at a weight of 200lbs or less?
I was 241lbs when I decided I needed to do something about the weight. When I had the consult I was around 230 lbs. As of this morning I am 211. I have yet to get approval so with any luck I will be under 200 when I get banded. Oh, I am also 5'4" on a good day. I am doing this because I am sick of the yo-yo. Lose 10 gain 15.....lose 30 gain 40. It is time for it to stop. I wish you luck.

Gall stones!?!?!
So I had a Dr appt yesterday to get the results of an ultrasound of my liver. As it turns out I have a severly fatty liver and gall stones. Now I am waiting to find out if I need to have my gallbladder out prior to being banded or if the banding Dr will do both at once. Has anyone here had to deal with gall stones just before their procedure? If so what was your result? I thank you for any input you may have.

GAINED in PREOP??
Hence why I refuse to buy a scale for home  I only weight in once a week and my location is at the gym. If that doesn't kick you in the arse nothing will. That being said.....stop beating yourself up. You have already lost 14 lbs that is awesome!!

Scheduled my surgery!!

Devestated - Bariatric Surgery Not in Insurance Contract
So sorry to hear that the procedure isn't covered. That sucks. I too, am awaiting funding. Should it be denied I know that I would not be able to pay for it on my own with a young family and all. Praying that we both get the result we hope for.

Surgery !!!

Telling People You Are Banded?
I have told a little family and a few friends. I am not really trying to keep it a secret I just don't feel that everyone needs to know.....that being said I am sure everyone will find out sooner or later as people start to talk.

I have a surgery date!!!
You will have to talk with the clinic you will be using to get your pre-op diet. Each clinic and case is pretty much different. I have heard everything from 3 week diet to 72 hrs. Also, some people are on all liquids and some are allowed one or 2 small meals a day. Good luck on your journey.
