  1. I think this has happened for me as well . I used to not be able to walk past food without eating. Now I could care less. But let me see a cute sundress and I can barely contain myself. Not to mention all the time I can now spend trying on clothes and looking in the mirror. My size 12s are actually getting baggy. I used to spend hours trying to find clothes to hide my body. Now I can't believe how great things look on me. I can't imagine how bad it's gonna be once I get to an 8 like you. The other thing I seem to do is weigh myself all the time. I have to say I still get a rush everytime I see the numbers go down. That and I take tons of pics right now. Sometimes I can't believe the difference in the before and after pics. So yes i've definitely transferred addictions, who needs food when there's shopping to be done?
  2. Ill Bacardi and coke. And how about a nice thick steak? One that I can take a great big bite of without getting sick? Lol
  3. Calm down. Unless you drank so much that you puked for hours you probably have very little chance of hurting your band. I drink socially and I've never had any problems at all. So do several other members on this site. I went out for my birthday last weekend. And somehow I'm betting I drank a whole lot more than you did. Lol
  4. when you talk to your doc, you just need to make sure that you go into detail and have documented any health problems you are having. especially anything such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. make sure you ask to have blood work drawn. and as far as the surgery just tell him about the struggles you've had losing. any diet or exercise plans that you've tried and that didnt work for you. tell him you've been doing ressearch on WLS and what his suggestions are. i was lucky that my doctor really made things easy for me. and restless is right that you dont necssarily need a referral or permission from your family doctor to have the surgery. but what you are more than likely going to need are 3-6 months of consecutive visits to your doctor regarding your weight problems. most insurance do require something along these lines. but you dont have to wait to see the barriatric surgeon to start getting those visits in. if you're seriously considering this and you've done your research i'd set up an apt as soon as possible to get things going.to be approved most insurances want you to have a BMI of at least 40 or a BMI of 35 and other weight related core morbities such as sleep apnea or high blood pressure. i hope this helped a bit. and good luck!!
  5. it hurts but nothing unbearable. my doc dosent use lidocaine either. and even without it, its not too bad.my doctor will only do a fill once a month. and you get them until you get the right spot for you. it took 3 fills for me. im currently at 4.5ccs in a 10 cc band. some people need more than that. some need less. good luck with your 1st fill.
  6. they,ve got some really good options at victoria;s secret . pricey but worth it. id suggest taking the time to get measured next time you go bra shopping. i've found that fit is the key for strapless bras. i know when i got measured id gone down a few inches and a cup size
  7. i agree you need to a least make an appearance. its the right thing to do. and it might just make you feel better. getting up and moving is the only thing thats ever helped my cramps. and even if it dosent help the cramps you wont have to add guilt for not going to the rest of your pre surgery worries. and depending how you feel post-op it may be the last time you get out and socialize for a few weeks. i hope you feel better. and good luck and congratulations on your surgery tomorrow. and 10lbs in 10 days is a major accomplishment. your doc should be very pleased:thumbup:
  8. debbie that is great!! i love buying smaller and smaller clothes. and have a great time in vegas!!!
  9. I don't use the card when I go out. Most of my friends and family know about my surgery. But I'm a very private person when it comes to people I dont know. I also don't know if I think it's really fair. I now eat about the same amount as one of my girlfriends who is really thin. She can't ask to eat off the kids menu because she dosent eat a lot, so I don't necessarily think it's fair for me to be able to when we eat the same amount. I just most of my meal home and have a nice lunch for work the next day.But I have used a trick that she taught me, there are some places like applebees that will let you order a half size portion of something at a reduced reduced. I like doing this when I get things like salads that don't keep well.
  10. catherine, happy to aee you doing so well. my b-day is tomorrow and im happy to report that ive not only met my goal of 175 but have exceeded it and im down to 174. this alos takes me out of the obese category and makes me merely overweight, (lol) but this is the smallest ive been in 10 years so im very excited. i fel great. i had a fill on jine 1s and ireally think im at my sweet spot. ive got a fill scheduled next week and unless i get a dramatic change in restriction im probably gonna cancel it. ladies we seem to all be trying really hard. so give yourself a reward.( non food of course) i went out and bought myself a really sexy dress to wear out on my b-bay. i cant wait
  11. definitely fat and rich. i grew in a family of 8 kids so money was always tight and as a single mom of 3 i still live on a tight budget. itd be nice not to have to worry abiut things, not to have an unexpected car repair be a major hardship. or to be able to take my kids on a vacation without having to save forever first. fat and rich hands down.
  12. the crystal light packets are a great idea. Walmart even sells a cranberry flavored version. I'm definitely gonna have to try that one.
  13. also stress the health benefits to him. Make it clear that you aren't doing this just out of vanity or that you want attention from others. That it's something you're doing out of love for him and more importantly love for yourself. That you're still gonna be the sexy confident women that hes in love with, they'red just gonna be a bit less of you. He may not like it but if he really loves you he's gonna come around.
  14. I'm 5'4, 174 and in a size 12. Some of them are on the lose side already. my next purchases are gonna be 10's. Ahbo8 if you're 5'6 175 is probably gonna be a 10 on you. Good luck you will be in a 12 or a 10 before you know it.
  15. I tried the pink lemonade flavor a few months ago. And I have to say I did not care for them at all. They had a very unpleasant aftertaste. Maybe you might find a flavor you like better but I disliked the kind I tried so much that I never bothered with trying any others.
  16. sounds like a great idea. I keep thinking I'd like to start jogging. I've been doing the eliptical but now that I've got some of this weight off I'd like to try it. It also helps me get to another one of my long term goals. My boyfriend is I'm the millitary and in great shape. He runs everday, even when were on vacation. ( nauseating isn't it, LOL) I really wanna be able to run with him but I wanna build up some stamina before I try to run with him. This challenge just might be the right motivation I need to get started.
  17. im covered under BCBS of new jersey.from what ive looked into no insurance covers a breast reduction or a tummy tuck. the breast reduction maybe if you are having back problems related to the weight of your breasts. as far as the tummy tuck ive never net anyone that didnt have to pay out of pocket for theres. i think some insurances may pay for removal of the excess skin on your stomach, again if you are having persistent or infested sores in the folds of the skin or other complications related to excess skin. but its only for the skin removal part not the actual tightening of the stomach muscles. all insurances are different so id check to see what yours will or wont cover. good luck
  18. i was just gonna say orthostatic hypotension as well but i see restless monkey beat me to the punch. i had some issues when i was younger with it. the 1 caution id like to add is be careful getting in and out of the tub or shower until you get this resolved. i got really dizzy getting out of the tub a few times and almost cracked my head open. i hope everything works out!
  19. i also use straws with no problem, but be cautious at 1st, just like a lot if things with the band, things that give some of us no problems at all give others big problems. best of luck!
  20. congrats on onederland, isnt it a great place, oh and if you figure out how to delete a ticker please llet me know, ive been trying to get rid of mine and it wont go away!
  21. I've eaten popcorn a few times and never had a problem with it. I've had pretty good success with tacos as long as they have a hard shell. For some reason the soft ones don't go down well. And I too do not care for protien shakes. Once you get on solids it's easier to find ways to get your protien without them.
  22. i was banded 02/24/09 so im 4 months post op. i was 225 the day of surgery. and thanks a lot it hasnt always been easy but its definitely been worth it.
  23. call your bariatric office there should be someone on call for emergencies, if that dosent work call your PCP and tell them you need to go to the ER. hope you feel better soon
  24. indigogirl we seem very similar. I'm also 5'4 I started at around 225. I'm a pound away from my 1st big goal of 174 . That's the number that takes me from obese to merely overweight. And my initial longterm goal is 145 because like you that's the number that's puts me in the normal BMI. And you're in a size 4 now. Amazing. And maybe it is possible for me. Here's another NSV for me today. all of my shortss are way too big. Well last night I picked up 2 pair of size 12 shorts assuming they would fit. Well they do fit but with enough room I'm really thinking they need to go back and be exchanged for a size 10!!!! Me in a size 10 never in my wildest dreams. So maybe a 8 or a 6 is really attainable. Thank you guys so much for sharing your skinny stories with me. I'm really starting to think this thing is really possible.
  25. the chicken bacon ranch salad from mcdonalds. I get the grilled chicken and use the lite vinagrette dressing they have. They're chicken is pretty moist and as many problems as I used to have with chicken I've never had a problem with it.
