  1. again I gave no specific I simply stated a fact. That I know people that have had all 3 surgeries and had significant weight regained. Period point blank. and sleeve, band or bypass a stomach that goes from being able to hold 1/4 cup of food to a full steak dinner has undergone some significant restretching. And again any of the 3 can fail if someone makes no attempt to change there eating habits. And you stated that " I claimed to be a nurse" where I come from that's another way of calling someone a liar. So on this topic were just gonna have to agree to not see eye to eye on this issue because I really don't care to debate any further with people that need to get to that level to prove a point.
  2. i've been a nurse for 12yrs, and the only specific thing i said about band or sleeve patients is that i know people that had both surgeries and gained signifigant amount of weight back. and again i did extensive research on all 3 methods. the band was my choice. and i've read on all surgeries and passed my choice on that, anybody thst the band wasnt righy choice for and i hope they find what does. but plese do not make a back handed attempt at calling me a liar because i didnt come to the same decisions as you. if what you are doing works for you then great, but dont get defensive and attack people who dont follow the path you do. thats why there are different surgery methods, not particular one is the answer for everyone. and i will again say again that regardless of what choice you make if you cont to eat poorly no method will work long term for you.
  3. well headhunter for starters the post asked if we wished wed got the band over the sleeve. it was more about the personal choice wed made and if we wished wed made a different choice. i simply gve some of the reasons why i made mine. oh and i also stated that it was a co-worker not a friend that id been. but shes not the only person i know with signifigant regain. and these are both bypass and sleeve people. i know more than 1 of both that have lost and regained. and i too think anybody that would spend that muck money on a surgery just to reverse the effects is stupid. also im a nurse and have seen several patients with the same issues. i did signifigant research on all of the surgery methods. the band was what was right for me. the sleeve or bypass may be whats right for them. the bottom line is that any of the surgeries can fail if the person isnt committed to change. ive seen banders fail as well. so yes i do have a clue and am not just spouting out6 nonsense wuth no knowledge of what i speak. oh and jut cuz someone has failed at weight loss surgery does not make them a moron. considering how many times all of us have dieted and failed that would make us all morons. im sure yourself included
  4. just had to post about this. i went out with my girlfriends this weekend and i just got a chance to look at some of the pictures. i almost didnt recognize myself in them. if i werent the only redhead id have sworn it wasnt me! (i put 1 up in my album for anyone who wants to look.) then i look at some pics i took in jamaica in november. what a major difference. i was so heavy, not to mention miserable. those were almost the only pics i took on vacation cuz i felt so fat. i almost cant imagine how hot ill be when i get to goal. lol i just had to post on here. some things only my band friends understand. i am so much happier than i've been in years. i am really getting back to me. i np longer think people stare cuz im fat.i actually fel like people look now cuz im attractive. the band has given me the best gift i've ever recieved and that gift is the real ME!
  5. i dont regret my band. i was glad i went with a less invasive adjustable option. i spent yesterday with a co-worker who had bypass a year and a half ago. she ate and ate junk the whole day long. she lost 100lbs initially and is now gaining it back quickly. she is one of many people i know in this situation that have had the sleeve or bypass. they lost rapidly initially but started eating and stretching there stomachs back out like they were before the surgery and theres nothing besides more surgery that will shrink it back down. at least with the band we can get a complete unfill and gradually regain restriction through fills.
  6. i had my surgery 2/24/09 and so far im down 48lbs. its different for everyone. so far things are coming off prettty quick, but its starting to taper off. but im gonna kick up the exercise and see if that works
  7. im not gonna tell you that the bands gonna cure your back problems. but i can almost guarantee that your back pain will decrease quite a bit once you've got some weight off. good luck
  8. I think we've all had at least one experience like that. I had it happen last weekend at my daughters dance recital. Only when I got to the bathroom there was a line of about 20 women ahead of me. I ended up having to go outside and throw up. It was awful. I' be gotten a lot better with chewing so I don't PB all the time. But every once in a while it sneaks up on me.
  9. you are 100% right. it took a long time for me to realize that food was an addiction i couldnt beat on my own. it takes a lot of guts to make such a major life change. we all could have kept yo-yo dieting. or even worse sitting on the couch getting fatter.im proud of all of us.
  10. im at 4.5cc in the 10cc band. im losing at a good pace but still able to eat most anything in small quantities as long as i take the right size bites. so if im not at my sweet spot im pretty darn close
  11. i had my biggest victory today. got into a pair of size 12 jeans that have been in the back of my for like 4 years that id never once been able to wear. i've tried them on periodically and before today i could never get them up any further than mid thigh.they look great, and i didnt even have to suck in my stomach to get them zipped!
  12. girl you are too funny. and let me just add that shopping at victorias secret for sexy lingerie beats lane bryant hands down. god how i hated that store. my now much smaller butt will never step foot in there again!
  13. toptier is right. just take your time to heal fully. just make sure you get your protein. also this is a really good time to get in the habit of taking small bites and chewing really well. if you get that down early you will save yourself a lot of discomfort later on.
  14. you go girl! theres nothing like seeing the numbers on the scale go in the right direction.
  15. good luck to all you ladies! im sure you will be every bit as happy with your bands as i am with mine.
  16. i vote for a really great purse to go with all of your new skinny clothes. a nice leather purse from coach or dooney and burke will last forever. i personally am a dooney and burke addict! or some expensive perfume. another thing im addicted to
  17. this has been a great day for me. for starters i got up this morning and im down to 177. only a few pounds short of my birthday goal! then even better. i have a pair of size 12 jeans that i bought from the GAP like 4 years ago that have never ever fit. well i put them on today and they fit perfect. no squeezing to get them zipped, no muffin top. and they're not stretch material either! im so proud of myself! i was so happy i almost cried. all i have to say is if you work with the band it really does work. so for anyone whos struggling. keep at it. the rewards are well worth the work you put in. nothing i've ever eaten ever made me feel as good as i did when i looked at myself in those jeans.
  18. i like sugar free chocolate pudding when i want something sweet. i also eat a chocolate chip fiber 1 granola bar everyday. and they are really good!
  19. I use the Lose It app on my I phone. It works great and I almost always have my phone so it makes it easy to record things right as your day goes along. That way I don't have to try to remember everything I ate at the end of the day. It also tells you how many calories you need each to make your goal
  20. seems right to me. I've got 4.5cc in a 10cc band and I've got pretty good restriction. You might not be feeling so hot if you just had it today. I know my stomachs very sensitive for a fee days after a fill. Hopefully you end up with good restriction where you are at
  21. thanks for all the great response guys. i saw her again at my daughters dance recital this weekend. she was with my ex. well let me tell you i made sure i was looking my best. well when he saw me he couldnt stop staring and complimenting me on how great i looked. she looked super pissed and i loved it! my sister said she saw her punch him in the arm after we i walked away!
  22. i've 4.5cc in a 10cc band. right now i've got great restriction and am losing really well. before my last fill i wasnt feeling that much restriction. i was kind of disappointed when my doc only gave .5cc at my last fill. well let me tell you guys a little goes a long way. juist that small amount has made a big difference!
  23. ok birthday girls how are we all doing? now that schools out and im not so busy with the kids im finding more time to exercise and things are going really well. not to mention that my last fill has given me really good restriction. right now im 6 pounds and about 3 weeks away from my birthday goal. i lowered my goal by a pound when i found out 174 is the number that takes me out of the obese category and makes me merely overweight, lol so ladies, how goes it? any problems any major victories (scale or non-scale) to report?:tongue_smilie:
  24. thats a good 1, i havent been called skinny in 20 years
  25. good for you! my birthday goal is 174. and thats the spot that takes me from obese to overweight. only 9 more pounds to go.
