  6. you might get a upper gi to see why? I am taken pantoprzole once a day, much better then prolsec. I got bad reflux due to a hernia and once that was repaired much better... Get a upper gi to see why, I suffer for a while, thinking I was eating to late etc... and I did show some damage to my esphogus due to acid.. MUCH MUCH better now, I should of had the upper gi sooner then I did..
  7. yes, you can.. you get adjusted to the band, and you tend to go back to old habits, gotta stay on your toes always.. good thing is, it does help control portions though..
  8. I heading for my 5th year being banded... I started out at 258 and got to goal 130 in year and half.. then got a hernia and tilted band, had to be unfilled for over 2 months waiting on my surgery, gained 30.. got it all fixed and hard to get this weight back off, I am 162 today.. I want to get to 145.. I realize looking back 130 was to thin i'm 5'7. I didn't think so at first, til I look back at photo's... but darn this 20 is hard to get off... been stuck here for over 2 years...

  10. I saw DR Monash yesterday and he did tell me he been taken out more lap bands then putting in.. He says studies now show that there is only a 60% sucess rate where there is a 85% of bypass. When I got the band back in 2009 with him, is when everyone was for the band etc... But now, after more time and research etc.. they are realizing more problems with the band. I had my share of problems, a second surgery etc... I did well with the band though, was 258 and got to 130 in a year a half, then had to have a sugery about 2 years to repair a herina i got along the way, and reposition my band, which i gained back about 25 along the process.. so, If i knew now back then what I know now, I might consider the other 2 surgies myself. I seen alot of people after they hit 2 to 3 year mark after the band, having issues, sad but true. and there is alot of maintence with the band etc.. Do your research on all 3 and see.. good luck
  11. hello, well well well where do I start... I had Dr. Monash do my band in 2008. I lost 130 pounds and love this doctor. I also had 40 BMI and no health issues. He only recommand the band for me, he looks at your paper work and the back ground and also when he talks to you.. He's been GREAT to me.. He was always encourging me and great bed side matter. Band reguires alot of maintence, fills etc.. so I feel bypass wouldnt be as much if you look at the maintence part. Some people wouldnt do well with fills etc... But bottum line, i doubt he is out for the money.. You need to look for a difference doctor, you need to feel comfotable and trusting with your surgeon and I feel he failed you. You missed out on a great doctor, but good luck with your surgery with who ever you go with..
  12. I been banded since 2009 and had 2 upper gi, do to issues.. it's not a bad idea to have one.. my freind who dont live in the same state, where she got hr band they do reguire it done once a year.
  13. I had my band May 2009 and was 258 and got to 130 and stayed there til march 2012 when they discovered i had a hernia.. i had surgery a monthor so later to repair the hernia and repostion my band, since it got tilited. im all good now so far. so just get tyhe hernia repaired and repositioned the band and you'll be all set.
  14. Best to do meassurements too, sometimes we lose inches buyt the scale dont move.. Make sure your eating enough,m if not enough you wont lose, body holds on to it thinking it's starving. My thing is when i get my water in and walk it helps me the most.l
  15. I agree with them call your DR. Plus sometimes it can take up to a week to feel a fill and also we swell when fills so could be just that, can wait a few days and see if it gets better, can try some liguid ibuprofen too.
  16. HI, it is normal, just keep sipping on water and do the best you can ion food choices, ther time before your fill they refer it to bandsterhell, this is where you dlont have any restriction and dont be upset if youy gain a few, you have to focus on healing. The real weight lost dont start til after a few fills, if you loose before that look at it as a bonus. I been band since may 2009 and hit goal in 18 months. started at 258 and got to 133 and kept it off for over a year, I just had to have surgery again my band got tilited and he removed a hernia. so, I'm back to no fluid in muy band and know how you feel when you say hungry. Just focus on protien and sometimes we are thirsty and mistake that for hungar, eat up on sugar free popcisle and sugar free jello, i even put a little fat free coolwhip on top. Take a short walk anything to get your mind destracted. Congrads, you'll love the band!!!!!

HI, I had all my fluid removed about 2 weeks ago, due to waking up with heartburn at night. I had a xray today and no slip, but did say I had a slight tilte band, but not to be concern and i can start getting fills and see how it goes., I hope my doctor who will get the xrays agrees. Has anyone had this issue and how did it turn out. These will be the longest few days of my life waiting on my doctor to call me. Thanks in advance for you replies.. I was banded May 2009 start weight 258 current weight 135.
