Can you FILL me, I need some help?
Its so funny you responded bc I was just looking at your new pics about your surgery this morning. Looking good! I dont know if I could handle the pain...but I am getting off track. Well, I was about 20 minutes into the chicken. I was using a knife and fork and cutting it into about penny sized pieces. I didnt feel like I was going to fast...but I dont know:confused: Maybe I didnt chew a piece good enough. I dont know how to tell when I should stop. I mean...that sounds like I am food challenged...but I mean do i stop when i feel "full" or when the sandwich is gone, or when there is a pain...or after 4-6 oz regardless of if i am still hungry?

Can you FILL me, I need some help?
I had my third fill and can finally feel restriction. A good amount:thumbup: Howevever I need some help. I have PB'd once and threw up today. Last night I tried to eat a bite of slice peaches. I maybe got down one slice and after about 5 minutes, I PB'd. Yucky. I could feel it coming on, like my slobber was getting stuck. Then today I went and got a chick-fil-a sandwich, threw the bread away, and got out my knife and fork. I cut it in very small pieces, and was about 20 minutes into eating it when I could feel a piece just sitting in my throat. So I stopped. I waited about 5 minutes and had to go the bathroom and out it came. SO, am I eating too fast or too much? How do you know when to stop? I dont want to eat too much and stretch out the band, but it seemed like everything was fine and then BAM! Not fine. Suggestions?

how should I handle this situation?
Can I ask you why you dont want people to know? What is wrong with just saying straight up--Yep, I had lapband. I am taking control of my life.:cool2: I dont wear a sign signing I had lapband, but if someone asks me how I am losing weight, I tell them. Usually they dont know how it differs from bypass, so I inform them. I understand that it is private, but your weight loss will be visually public and there is no shame to our game! I hate confrontation too, but I would like to speak my piece towards this coworker so I would have my manager mediate. Regardless of whether you manager handles it or you do, this girl is going to get her little feathers ruffled and she will continue talking s* about your weight loss and your choice. So...take the power away from her! If you put it our there and inform people, she will have nothing to run her mouth about. There will be no secret for her to spill. You have made a choice for the better. Who gives a crap about the haters! Be proud of yourself.

"No Fill For You!" Because I was a Stupid DooDoo POOPIE HEAD!!!
I like the way your write! Very nicely done! SUCKY that you have been on mushies for 5 weeks. i dont have any idea how you did that! Willpower for sure! My doc uses what we can eat to guage how much of a fill we need as well...so I understand. Maybe if you try solids for a week or so and have no probs you can call and get in before next month? I have called twice since my first fill to get another and my doc lets me come in whenever. I didnt gain when I went to solids, but I stopped losing for about a week or so. So then I added working out and it started back up again.

Is it possible to eat too little
Yikes! I just read a post that scared me (not yours). You can for sure be eating to little...I agree with CrzyTeacher! If you are consuming less than 900 calories a day, your body thinks it is starving itself. When this happens, you body tries to hold on to everything you put into it. Also, at below 900 calories a day you will start to lose your hair, lose muscle mass, etc. If you cant eat eat in the morning, you could always drink a dreaded Protein shake. I do yogurt as well. Its a tad boring, but its okay. A lot of people on the forum talk about if they eat too little their weight loss stalls. Keep your chin up!

Before a fill, do you fast?
We are supposed to be on liquids for 48 hours prior and 48 hours post fill. He really would like it to be Clear Liquids...BUT, I do full liquids and ran that by him and that was okay. I usually eat a little yogurt the morning of a fill and drink Water...but my fills usually arent until 4pm. I think an empty stomach would be the best. That's just me though!

Rain w/ a chance of another fill
Hey! Thats better than the way my boyfriend says that same quote...but instead of "hind end" its crotch. Yours is much better :crying: Morning is hard for me too. Sometimes I eat some grapes to tide me over. Also, bc I usually eat just yogurt for breakfast...and that doesnt fill me up for very long.
-
Rain w/ a chance of another fill
Yes. Bread doesnt give me a problem. I usually choose not to eat it though...I try to concentrate on Protein first, etc. My nutritionist said if it's not protein, ask yourself "Am I really going to get anything out of this (energy, etc)". If the answer is not, dont eat it.:crying: I have to remind myself of this when I want something like chips!

Rain w/ a chance of another fill
LOL, I love my doctor. I dont understand why you would think I need another one...bc he lets us eat bread? He is had done over 500 lap band surgeries, and I am lucky enough to work at a hospital that is a bariatric center of excellence. Bread is allowed. It is stressed that for most patients, they dont tolerate bread very well bc no matter how good you chew it, it can feel stuck and just balls up. I cant think of one single thing that is off limits to us except carbonation. I have been on this site for about 5 months now and find it very helpful. I also drink tons of water. I read where sometimes it takes awhile to feel your fill. Thats why I waited two weeks the first time. I will admit though...I like immediate gratification. SO patience in some matters is not always my strong suit!

Rain w/ a chance of another fill
Weeelll, I dont think I could eat as much as I used too, but I really havent tried. Which is why my weight loss has been pretty good...its really been like I am on a diet. AND, I have been working out. I have to really work at stopping eating...not bc my body tells me that I am full, but bc I know better. And of course, I dont eat the junk I used to, or consume the 7 sunkists a day, etc. But I am definetly not full or physicall satisfied with 4-6 oz. I think if Indiana Jones were to make a movie in regards to weight loss, the title would be "The Quest for the Holy Sweet Spot". :crying:

Rain w/ a chance of another fill
HOLA! I just wanted to get some advice or hear some thougths on the following subject. I was banded on 1/27. I had my first fill on 3/5. 4ccs in a 10-12cc band. I didnt feel any difference. I called the office after about a week and they got me in for another fill. (I wasnt scheduled for another fill until MAY 7th!) So, my doc always asks a series of questions about what I can eat, and the big one is always can you eat a sandwich with no problem. My answer was yes. So, he gave me another 1.5cc's and told me my bread eating days might be over. That was last thursday, 3/19. I can feel a difference. If I take a really big bite of something, I might have to wait a minute before my next bite. But, I can still eat a complete meal. For example, a whole pork chop, peas, and half a slice of cornbread. Or a whole piece of chicken breast, corn, tomatoes, etc. Yesterday I made a lunch meat sandwich and it went down without a problem. SO, i called the office again (I am sure they love me), and I am going in for my third fill on Monday. I will ask my doc and share everything with him, but my question is....do I need one? Or is this what restriction is supposed to feel like? I am under the assumption that with proper restriction I should feel satisfied with 4-6 oz of food, that should keep my full for 3-4 hours. I could probably eat double that and still get physically hungry well before 4 hours. I can drink gulps of Water. I can eat bread with Peanut Butter on it...etc. Thoughts? And if you were wondering what the title of the post has to do with anything...its pretty raining down here in the south right now :crying:

Still Hungry...
I would totally call you doctor. I was banded on 1/27, had my first fill on March 5th. 4cc's in a 10-12cc band. Didnt feel any difference and he had scheduled my next fill for 5/7!!! So, I called the office and they got me in last thursday. I told him what I could eat, etc. And he gave me 1.5cc's more. He thought this would change things pretty dramatically. I do feel some light restriction now. However, I can still eat probably close to 16 oz of food. For example, a pork chop, some veggies, half a slice of corn bread, etc. SO, I called the office again yesterday and I am going in on Monday for my 3rd fill. It doesnt hurt to call and explain your situation and see if you can go in for another fill. All docs are different...as are all patients! Good luck!

Second Wind
Mine just annoys me. She actually asked me pre-surg if I had "ever seen a food pyramid". I was like YES *bleep*, I just like eating the part of it thats the smallest. (I kept the bleep part in my head though). I think its funny that she assumed that I didnt know what heatlhy eating was. One thing I am pretty sure of, is that most overweight people know more about healthy eating than those people who have been skinny all our lives. I mean...HELLO, we have read every book, taken classes, googled diets, etc. Our problem (or at least mine) is actually putting to use what I knew! Sorry, I got off on a tangent!

Why do women have anal sex?
LOL, of course...someone you know....isnt that how urban legends start. Anyways, yes...people stick lots of random things up their butt. However, google it, go to snopes, or any number of various websites that debunk myths like this.... my problem with the earlier statement is that when people attribute something to a certain sub-section of the population...like implying that gay mean historically stick rodents up their ass...well, that borders on bigotry. Exspecially when paired with a statement that men you are open enough to explore their pleasure zones might also be gay. But...or should I say BUTT...I have said my piece. Enough of that.

Just starting out and have so many questions!
I was a sunkist addict, hence the name of my blog. But, I tell you what...I dont miss it as much as I thought I would. I gave it up several weeks prior to surgery, and now all I drink is Water. If we go out to eat, sometimes I will get a strawberry lemonade, just to switch it up. Every once in awhile I crave one, but have not given in to the temptation. I dont want to risk it. My overall success is worth more than a quick fix of pop from heaven :frown: aka sunkist. Welcome and good luck!

Why do women have anal sex?
I am pretty sure that the gerbil incident is an urban legend. I know lots of gay men...and none has stuck a rodent up their ass...or a tampon for that matter. As for "if men like it they might have homosexual tendancies"...lol for real? Men like it because its a tight hole around their d*%&. Simple. It feels tighter than the other options. Also, men like it bc its totally dirty and porn like. Which ironically, is why I like it with my boyfriend. Its a shame that some men never ask their female partners to explore that area bc they are afraid people will think they are gay. I love that idea that my partner can express things to me without me placing judgement on him. Also, trust me....the hole tightens right back up. If it didnt, an it stayed lose...well...the white pants after labor day rule would be a year long one instead.:frown:

BIG Embarassing Moments - Fuel for Success
Its my gift to you today...laughter. Good luck as you progress with your choice! I dont regret one moment of it...yet...:frown: p.s. I hide my seatbelt extender in my underwear drawer. Perhaps when I dont need it anymore I will have it gilded in gold...oooh or have it cremated and put in an urn...ah, the possibilities.

trouble with chicken?
I would be really bummed if I couldnt eat chicken anymore. I love it. I was banded on 1/27 and havent had any problems with any meat. I am trying pork chops tonight. 2 nights after my second fill I had about 2 oz of chicken from applebees that came on one of their mini slider sandwiches. Ate it without the bread of course, but it was fine. Its just hard to tell since we are all so different. I also eat A LOT of chicken salad that I make. I get the white meat chicken breast in a can from tyson. Its chunky, but I wisk it with my fork so its real shredded. I add light mayo, diced celery, and diced sweet pickles. Its one of my staples. I eat about 3-4 oz of it for lunch several times a week.

Stuffing my face - no more!
That's so funny that you posted this bc I literally just wrote about this on my blog! And yes, to clarify so people dont yell at us...This is why we had a problem, and this is why we need the band... but With my second fill I can longer take huge bites, or take a bite of a cookie and wash it down with milk. And when i eat, I have to eat slow...while my boyfriend chows down like he some masked man will come up behind him and make off like a thief in the night if he doesnt eat fast enough. Makes perfectly good sense though. I can only speak for myself...but I have been eating like this for almost 3 decades! It takes time to change...and during this process...we mourn the loss of the old weigh (pun intended).

First fill question
You can request whatever you like. That doesnt mean he will give you what you want:laugh:...but I think you should TOTALLY tell him why you feel you need a good sized fill. I knew going into my first fill that I didnt want a silly little fill that left me feeling like nothing had happened. I didnt have any Fluid in my band post-op, and could eat anything I wanted. But my doc is wonderful, so when he asked me questions like "are you having any problems with eating, drinking, etc" and "Can you eat a sandwich with no problem" (my answer was oh yes), he said that he was going to give me 4cc's. That was 2 weeks ago. I didnt feel any difference. So, I called back last week and asked if I could come in for another fill. He said sure, and this last Thursday he gave me another 1.5cc's. Now I can finally feel a difference! Yeah!:frown: So, my point is. Be honest with your doc about what you can and can't eat. Hopefully he will listen to you and has the experience to decide how much he wants to put in. Everybody's body is different. As is everyone's doc! Good luck.

Why do women have anal sex?
You know....you could have her do it to you first. Not trying to be an ASS about it BUTT...(two puns in one sentence).... For real though, if you let her play around with you...perhaps you can show her its not so bad. After all, your "Gspot" is through the backdoor. It was just something I always wanted to try. I had to convince my bf that I really did want to experiment. We bought toys...for both him and I...and have tried LOTS of different lube. Water based and this is the best. Do not try the crap they sell at Walmart...no. Anal H20 is one of our favs. But like someone else recommended...you have to go reallll slow and keep squirting the lube. It also helps if you use a toy or your fingers right in her "sugarsnap" while you are loving up the chocolate starfish...it feels good and is a distraction. I have to go wash my mouth out with soap now.

Need some GOOD Direction!! At Restriction!!
Hey Molly Anne! I am still pretty early in my journey, but i have found that when my weight stalled, I had to start exercising...fo sho! I decided I would do my first 5k April 5th. I am walking it...but for a girl who would drive 2 blocks instead of walking it (before band), it will be a huge accomplishment. Anyway, I started with a mile, and added .5 miles each week. Now I am up to 3 miles. We have a really pretty place to walk along the Water...so at least its a nice view...ANYWAYS (I ramble). What I am trying to say is walking is free and isnt THAT bad. I did do yoga the other day at a yoga studio in town and i LOVED that! So get moving and maybe that will help! I still plateau for a week or so with working out...but it helps.

Is it bad that I want him to be jealous?
Hola and congrats on your "newish figure". I would have to agree with Plain....he sounds like he is emotionally stunted...and you know what they way about men with little emotional intelligence And I dont know how old you are, but I am getting ready to turn twenty ten (aka 30)...and I will just tell you now...the drama never stops. College, professional workplaces...lord its always around. Amazing, yet sad. Keep it up!

My Port is on the move?
ooh ooh! Pick me! Pick me! I know the answer (but I am not an expert). I thought for 6 weeks that my port was right underneath the incision. I would touch it, feel it, have other people feel it like it was a newborn baby growing in my belly. SO, when I went to my doctor for the first fill, I asked him if he could tell me what I was feeling. Turns out...what I was feeling was scar tissue under my incision, and my port was actually about an inch lower. If you click on the link to my blog I posted a pic. Hope that helps!
