  1. First, I would ask my doc for liquid Loritab and a pill for naseau (can't spell). The pill is tiny, but you can break it in half if you have to. I take that pill and a pepcid pill prescribed by doc and I dont have any trouble with getting them stuck. You need some good pain meds though. If you feel a burp or yawn coming on, hold a pillow to your belly. THis works for coughing as well. You have to walk. Take two disposable gas-x strips every 6 hours. Diarreahha--my doc told me to expect that. I don't know if what I have going down in the poop shoot is diarreahha, but I have learned never to trust a fart. I assume you are on a liquid diet, which would make sense why you have liquid coming out This too shall pass!!!! Hang on.
  2. The nutritionist said to stay away from things like Boost Ensure, etc bc of exactly what you are saying. Not enough protein and too many calories. For my liquid protein I have found that Atkins are the best tasting. I drink the strawberry and it takes like a real shake! I am going to see if Walmart has chocolate tonight. I aslo tried EAS chocolate...but not the best. Slim Fast has a low carb Protein shake as well, and the vanilla cream is really good too! Yeah, I was told no on the aleve also. Just Tylenol. Hope everything else is going well! I am looking foward to full liquid in about 10 days. Come here cream of chicken soup!
  3. Today I am feeling the best so far. I have to get up and pee about every hour in the middle of the night, and it was really easy last night to get up and down. Did your doc not give you pain meds? I can't take my Multivitamins until I get the okay from my doc. How much protein does your Boost have? I was told not to drink those... I was on a clear liquid diet for 6 days prior to surgery, and have to be on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks after. Then, I go to a full liquid diet for a week. Then pureed foods for a week, then mushies, then real food. There are 5 phases. I am not really hungry either. Yesterday I drank 3 bottles of Water and two Protein shakes. I am taking full advantage of being off work, and sleeping alot. I will be going back on Monday. Thanks for checking on all the Jan. 27th rockstars. I try to update everyday on my blog. It's easier to share pics there. Yeah for us!
  4. I like the Atkins shakes. They only have 15grams of protein, but the strawberry one takes like a real shake. I am drinking one right now!
  5. Thanks ladies! That helps. Common sense tells me that its all the fluids, I stayed the night and had a constant drip also...but still...there is a part of me that wants to stomp my foot like a three year old and pout bc I worked so hard with the preop liquid diet and lost a lot of Water weight (15 pounds in 6 days) and now its back! When you are aching you want to step on the scale and see it go down...sort of a confirmation that the pain is worth it. Today is my third day out. I had a baaaad night trying to sleep on the couch. Woke up in a good amount of pain...but I think most of it was from the couch. I crawled into our waterbed today and it actually felt good (of course I took my pain meds also!) Thanks for posting. I needed some encouragement!
  6. I had surgery yesterday and stepped on the scale and I am up 10 pounds from yesterday morning. I assume this is bc I am swollen? Did anyone else experierence this?
  7. I was banded yesterday and posted about it in introductions I think. I also posted about it on my blog. I am about to do the day two update with some pics from yesterday...on the blog.
  8. post it boobs! That's funny. I wish I had thought of that. Turns out what I thought was gas pain was actually where my doc put my port. It's higer than I thought. So no gas pain yet! yipee. Oh, and my doc gave me my scripts several days ago, so they are at home waiting for me.
  9. lol, I try! I called my brother and he said that if I didnt start using my pain meds he was driving down from Nashville, ripping the iv out, and putting it in him. So, I hit it about 7 times in over a couple of hours (they told me that I couldn't over do it), and I rested for awhile. Unfortunetly, the people in the room next to me must be arranging furniture...or bowling, and my IV machine is so loud....that I am up again. That's okay though. My nurse is coming back in at 11 to give me Saline in my IV...otherwise known as Tinkle Juice....so I will be busy for awhile going to the bathroom! haha
  10. Hello everyone! I am at the hospital and officially post-op! We got here this morning at 7:45 and got in my sexy gown, even sexier circulation socks, and the sexiest circulation boots. They made me pee to make sure I am not pregnant...that was fun. Not only did I not have much pee, but the bathroom stall was so narrow it was hard to sit and get that cup in place. I had to do some Matrix stuff to get that done. I was wheeled up to the surgery preop I guess you could call it around 9:00. Everyone came to ask me the same questions...dentures? Pacemaker? do I own a pony? Then they took me to the operating room. The anasteshia (cant spell it) took ten minutes to work. It was supposed to do that. But they strapped my arms down, my nose itched, and I started to think how if someone was having surgery for something that was serious and had a higher death rate...how scary that would be...I was pretty scared. I woke up somewhere else, thought I couldnt breathe. So far, that has been my least favorite part of the whole experience...the anasteshia (still cant spell it) wearing off. It took about 2 hours. After that wore off, I was in my room and asked if I could get up to walk. Didnt use the pain meds. My butt was hurting from the wonderful hospital bed though. I have a little gas I think around my left rib. I've been burping. I will probably push my pain button once I crawl back in bed for the night. I went to put my belly button ring back in and dropped the damn thing under the bed. I'm gonna have to ask the nurse to get it for me. I have been putting her to work today! I set my iv machine off twice by moving my wrist the wrong way! My boobs get stuck to my body bc of all the stuff they put on my belly. That's fun peeling them off every so often. Imagine sweaty thighs and a hot leather car seat. My boyfriend was a trooper. He hates to sit, but lasted all day. I sent him home around 5. Once I get some underwear on I will take pictures of the incisions...although they have little bandaids on them. my nurse just came, so i should go for now! she found my belly button ring!
  11. ive been thinking about refried beans for days! lol... I had surgery today. I am sitting here in my hospital room now. Right before surgery I got pretty nervous! I did not like coming out of anasteshia (sp?). It took a couple of hours to wear off totally. YUCK. The only pain I have is what I believe is gas around my left rib. I havent used any of the pain meds, but might when i get back in bed. I get to go home tomorrow!
  12. I am taking my computer and camera tomorrow so hopefully I will be able to post tomorrow with pictures! Weeeeee! I may do it on my blog though. Or both. But def the blog.
  13. Also...and this is for the ladies...and I have a tendancy to share to much. But I am looking forward to be able to shave...we'll say my "bikini line"...and actually see it! lol... sometimes I feel like Edward Scissorhands down there. Just hoping everything is nice and tidy. hahah...well...there. I said it.
  14. oooh, the airplane seat is a good one. the last couple of times I have flown I have carried a seatbelt extender. Thanks for reminding me. I will add that one on my list. I used to "smuggle" it in my bra strap and hope the person sitting beside me wouldnt notice. ahahahah
  15. Less than 24 hours and counting. I get banded tomorrow! Anyone else? I wrote my plans for this evening on my blog (so I won't take your time here), come and visit me there! But good luck to everyone. Contact me if you want to correspond! mmmm...I love water and broth. I love water and broth. I love water and broth.
  16. ooh, let me know how that first meat expierence goes! For real! How has eating gone period?
  17. My Doc put several "stiches" around the band to prevent slipping. Sounds like a good idea to me!
  18. Yes Ma'am they do. It is here at Baptist Hospital. The second Tuesdsay of every month. From 6:30-8:00pm, in what they call the Medical Meeting Rooms. It is for Bypass and Lapband. I have not been yet, but everyone says it is really great. Here is the number on the flyer is you want more information. 850-469-5810
  19. That's a brief intro for a big statement! Tell us more. Like how you lost the 200, why you think you regained 100. What your doc says, etc.
  20. Hi Heather. I am getting banded on the 27th. I dont know if you are on a full liquid diet or a clear liquid diet. I am on a CLEAR liquid diet + protein shakes. I prefer the Adkins protein shakes-strawberry is my fav in that. I bought some of each though. EAS, Adkins, and Slim Fast makes a Protein Drink now, so I bought vanilla in that kind. I tried to put that kind in a blender with strawberries...and it looked fine for about 60 seconds. Then it started changing consistency to some weird foam like stuff. YUCK. I had throw that away. I started eating sugar free popsicles last night. That was nice bc I could crunch on something. I also you Sugar Free Koolaid packets in my Water bottles, freeze those a little, and it's like a slushy. My fav so far is my chicken broth! Yum!!!! Good luck! May the force be with you.
  21. Hello again everyone! I made a very long post the other day giving me official "about me" info...but I left some basic things out. I am being banded by Dr. Friedman at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, FL. I work for the hospital so everything is covered. Most people here get Gastric Bypass...but that wasnt for me. I used to think this was the "easy" way out...and I would never need surgery. Um...needless to say I dont think that anymore. I am 29. Weigh 327. Am 5'4'' Never married. No kids. A native of Kansas. (no, I've never met dorothy) I am a former sunkist addict (hence the name of my blog). I enjoy swimming, dancing, laughing, and Antartica Ice Studies* I've never been thin. So its hard to really imagine it. When I posed for my "BEFORE" picture at the hospital I had a big smile on my face, and hands above me head. *I made the Ice Studies up.
  22. That really sucks about the lack of support. You will get it here for sure. This is a great Forum. It still doesn't make up for the people who care about you the most supporting you. Thank God boyfriend (all 153 lbs) of him is excited for me. My mom is still not so sure. She said "Why can't you just eat less"? I said...Well, why cant you! I reminded her that statistics show that of the people who lose weight with dieting...only about 5% keep it off. That's a very small number. Remember this is your life! You go girl! Hopefully this will be one of the best decisions of our lives.
  23. I know. The other night I dreamt that I was a wedding reception and they had Long John Silvers chicken Planks. I ate them. Then...Long John Silvers were carrying baby back ribs. I ate them too. I woke up so relieved that I didnt actually cheat! woooo It looks like you are doing great! Congrats!
  24. Have you ever noticed how many commercials deal with food? I'm sure you have! But have your REALLY noticed? When I don't have something DVR'd, I am forced to watch commercials. And now that I am on a diet of Water, Jello, and broth...it seems like every commercial is about food. Did you know that Whataburger came out with a Double Patty Melt. I don't even like Whataburger and when I see the commercial...you would think that it was my favorite restaurant. Have you seen the Red Lobster commercial? I hate seafood. But I might stick my tongue in the cup of butter they serve with lobster. Tracey let me suck the salt off of his pretzel last night. A pretzel stick. I really wanted to accidentally bite down on it...just to be able to crunch on something. I heard my stomach rumble last night. Didn't know what that was at first. I can't tell you last time I heard that noise! lol My boyfriend, bless his heart...weighs about 153 pounds. He asked me if I wanted him to eat in the garage last night. I said no. He is supportive of my choice, excited for me to be healthier. He loves me as I am. He thinks I am sexy. I swear he does and I can't figure it out. But I'll take it! When someone has never struggled with their weight though, I dont think they can really understand. He has sympathy, but not empathy. I think that's why so many people flock to the Forums online. It helps to find people that REALLY understand. :tt2:
  25. Mine is on Tuesday! You know, I havent been as hungry as I thought I would be. My mind thinks I am. I heard my stomach growl last night though...and I thought to myself..."Self...What's that noise?" I can't tell you the last time I heard my stomach growl from hunger. lol....fun times.
