up and down weight loss
Mmm...the scale. Horrible thing at times. I wrote a "dear john" letter to my scale on my blog...it hasn't responded in kind yet! Selfish!

Anyone deal w/ your partner getting jealous once you start losing weight?
One of the things that I talked to the psychologist about during my mandatory psych eval is that there is a much higher divorce/seperation rate among people who have WLS. (Scary when you think the average divorce rate is about 50%) She said one of several things happen: As the person begins to lose weight, their personality starts to change. or They start to get more attention and this makes an insecure partner even more insecure or once the person loses weight, they realize they can do better. I worry about my boyfriend bc his insecurities now...with me being over 300lbs are pretty high. And I am outgoing and friendly now!

To sell out or not to sell out
Well, good for you to say no. But....I would have had to think about it several times myself bc money sure is tempting! LOL But, I would also think about the times I have wasted my money on crap products trying to lose weight, and probably would have decided I didnt want to make some teen girl depressed bc the acai berry diet didnt work for her. It's funny you posted this today, bc just yesterday I was looking at your pictures for the first time and dang! The transformation really is amazing. Good luck!

Did anyone gain a pound or two back after initial loss?
Oh dearest Cookiebaby, a lot of us are going through this right now. There was a really good post in the Post-Op section, I think it was yesterday and it was titled "An update for those who want to know"...or something like that. It will make you feel better. If you cant find it, I copied on my blog. I believe you are in Bandster Hell. It's where you want to get a gun, shoot your scale, fridge, or skinny people. just kidding...I dont really want to shoot skinny people:tt2: Maybe just sit on them for awhile until they say uncle. They say it will get better for us! We just gotta keep believing.

The cough can cause band slipage or damage to my band?
Negative ghost rider. 6 days after my surgery I got a horrible cough. I went to my lapband doctor for my first checkup a few days after my cough developed and I asked him if I coughed hard enough...could it hurt my band. He said not at all. The cough comes from you lungs. :rose:

Pushing Food Through
- omg i just ate a pkt of twisties
Well, here's the good news....you shouldn't be craving them for awhile. Apparently, twisties are the Devils candy for you...so lesson learned! Sorry son, no more twisties in the house! If you are worried about the weight, go for a long fast walk (helps with guilt). If you are worried about the band, you could call your doc. But I think you will okay. I would also guess that after you have your first fill, those twisties will get stuck in a very unpleasant way...so dont push the maybes baby (that's a little saying my boyfriend has Enlightened me with).- Is This Bandster Hell?
Are those high in Protein? If I eat two of them will they keep me full until my first fill? I think I will google it!- Let me hear what your post op diet was like from week to week....
It was about 6 days post-op until I felt any hunger at all. I was banded on Jan.27th, and was supposed to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks. I made it about 6 days. I moved myself to full liquids (or at least cream soups) after that. When I met with my doc on the 7th day, he said that was fine. I am supposed to be on full liquids until tomorrow and then I can go to mushies and progress to soft. I am on mushies and soft stuff now. You will find that doctors orders vary drastically. You just have to know whats right for you and of course talk it over with your doc or clinical staff. Because I dont have a restriction yet, my meals dont really give me a full feeling. I just have to stop and ask myself if I am hungry. If the answer is no, I stop. Today for bfast I had half a container of lite strawberry yogurt with some grapenuts sprinkled on it. I had SF strawberry applesauce for a snack, and had taco bell refried Beans for lunch. Tonight I am going to have my first grilled chicken breast since before the preop diet. I am so excited!- Who started with a weight over 300 pounds?
Yeah Cindy!- CONFESSION TIME..spill it
Oh my God, I know you posted this a long time ago but I do the same thing! I always have. My favorite "meal" to make on my show is PB & J. That was preband though!- cream soups
Yes, cream Soups were on my full liquid list as well.- New Banders - Problems transitioning to new Foods
Hi Roirat. Here are some questions: What did you try to eat? How quickly did you eat it? What were you eating before (soup, yogurt, etc)?- Port Locations?
It depends on your starting weight. It takes me about 45 pounds before I lose a pants size and people start to notice a little change. But I started at 327.- 1/27 and 1/29ers anyone get weighed yet?
My first post op appt. isnt until Thursday. I just weigh at home. I am down 24 pounds, including pre-op and post-op. After surgery I had gained 10 pounds of Water weight from the IV, but thats gone now pluse 11 more! It might be a good thing you cant weigh yourself. It becomes a tad addictive.- How long do you stay out of work?
I am a Corporate Trainer and I went back to work today. 6 days post-op.- 2 days post-op and boy it hurts...
Is anyone starting to get a wee bit cranky bc of this damn liquid diet?:tongue2: I don't have any restriction yet...nothing in my band. I know that I could probably eat anything and it would go down just fine. I can drink my Water and Protein shakes at a good clip...and accidently ate a tator tot yesterday. OKAY...it wasnt an accident, but how else was I supposed to test if it was done? (I was cooking dinner for my boyfriend). So, now that Im on to the scam that I can eat anything just fine, I wish they would let me move to full liquids! I just want some cream of chicken Soup or tomato soup! But I will wait. Bc I know that they want me to get a good weight loss going on and take things slow. BUT...I find myself hardly eating anything bc I am sick of Jello, broth, and Protein Shakes. So carry on my brave 27thers! :cheated:- Do you miss fast food?
This thread is helping me. I am 6 days post-op and my fast food cravings are killing me! I love hamburgers. Sweet goodness. I want one so bad. meat MEAT MEAT Today I went to the movies with my sister (meaning I left the house in my car for the first time since the surgery), and I had to pass all the yummy places. I am getting a little cranky bc I have no restriction, but have to be on this clear liquid diet for another week! Then I move to full liquids for another week. I wish I could be on full liquids now. All I am asking for is for some creme of chicken Soup or tomato soup. But its reassuring to know that I will eventually be able to eat some fast food again. And that hopefully, I will crave it less. Thanks for all the posts!- 2 days post-op and boy it hurts...
lol..I know. But sadly...it's true!- I miss food--but not because I am hunrgy!
I know. Im thankful that I dont have either right now.- I miss food--but not because I am hunrgy!
Let's see...I was banded on Jan. 27th...so I am 5 days out. I am not hungry at all...but from reading other threads...it might be coming! I miss food though. It might sound weird, but my boyfriend thinks he is in seventh heaven bc I have been cooking for him like crazy! I wake up and cook him Breakfast. I breakfast I would love. I cook him dinner, with all the fixins. It doesnt make me hungry though. It's almost like some preverse sense of being connected with the food. I cant eat it but I can create it! haha...whatever...it helps. I am supposed to be on my clear liquid diet but all I can seem to manage is 2 Protein shakes a day and some Water. So, I am getting my liquids, but I dont feel like i am eating enough. I know its important to get my calories and nutrition. I guess that will come in the following stages though. Going to Walmart is like torture though. SO many possibilities. Strange limbo we are in during this early post-op phase. I went for a mile walk today. If you know me, the only thing that is worse to me than salad is walking...but it wasn't that bad! One more day at home and then I go back to work. Boo.- 3 days post surgery and I am hungry...help
What are you eating? Protein shakes should curb your physical hunger...although they aren't very fun. I also find sugar free popsicles make me feel like I am eating something since I can chew them. I like chicken broth and it really got me through pre-op diet, but now since i can only drink 1-2 oz...what's the point. Hang in there. this is the way I look at it...Our docs prescribe this two weeks of hell to give our weight loss a good jump start. AND to make us more appreciative when we actually put something yummy in our mouths (like mushies, etc). You can do it. My doc says 3-5 Protein Shakes a day. I do about 2. - omg i just ate a pkt of twisties
