  1. As others have said -- Stay in touch with your Doctor ( daily if necessary). You still need to get some Protein in you for energy. Try and get a Protein Drink in you in the am and pm....Also, you need to stay hydrated. Drink Water without any additives. How do you react to anesthesia ?? Your nausea could be related to the anesthesia. For some, it takes a week to get out of the system. Good Luck and you'll feel better.....

Weighed in at 273. Down 3 lbs last week. Total lost 64 lbs and feel good. Restriction still there so I think I will not be getting an additional fill this week. My XL shirts are loose. My son Steve got me for Father's Day two large shirts that fit pretty good. Once I lose another 10 lbs, they'll fit perfect. I need to go find size 40 pants as the 42's are too loose as well. This is what I call fun shopping, especially for me since I hate shopping.

  4. Trying to get some Fiber in as well as Protein for breakfast. Took two apple & cinnamon oatmeal packets - 130 calories each (260) whcih has 3g of dietary fiber and 3g of protein and added one scoop of unflavored powdered whey Proetin - 110 calories & 21 g of protein. So breakfast was 370 calories and 24 g of protein. That will hold me till lunch - a protein shake - 110 cal and 17 g of protein then dinner out for Father's Day..... HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL US DADS......
  5. The adjustments have really kicked in. I'm eating 4-5 oz and it's holding me for hours. Lost 3 lbs this week....
  6. I was banded on 5/11/09 and have two fills. I'm still learning myself but from what you describe, you need take smaller bites and chew more before swallowing. Also, I am avoiding white meat chicken ( for now) and stick to dark meat chicken. You must avoid doughy bread altogether. Toasted bread works the best. Rice can stuck as well so you may want to avoid it if it served dry. Rice wet - like with stewed tomaotes works for me but you can only have a very small amount in your spoon. Be proud of what you have accomplished. I attend business lunches and tell them ahead of time what I did ( Lap Band) and ask - what's on the menu. If I'm not comfortable, I ask for fish ( filet of sole or tilapia) and I haven't had a problem. Also, you must be careful and discuss with your Doctor if you keep on throwing up as you don't want the band to slip. For me and for you , it remains a learning process. Good Luck.
  7. Jennifer - I was banded 5/11/09 and have been following a 1000-1200 calorie daily plan. I eat three meals a day and only three meals a day. I can only eat 4-5 oz's at a meal so I must choose wisely. Proteins always first. Since Breakfast is the hardest for me, I have a V-8 juice and a Protein drink. Lunch is usually tuna salad, chicken salad, meatloaf or something that's high in protein. dinner - Boneless chicken thighs, meatballs, tilapia etc. A nice piece of tilapia or filet of sole is very good for you and soft. What helps me is " fitday.com" It's free. You sign in and can track and plan your daily intake. You want to eat 60-80 grams of protein. I have a hard time getting in the vegetables because I'm full after the 4 oz of protein so I have a V-8 in the am. I hope this helps......Good Luck - You can do it.

Since my first fill on 6/11/09, I still could eat anything without restriction and was not losing weight. I called my surgeon's office and got another appt for 6/18/09 to get another fill. 2.5 cc's were put in but I couldn't drink water and have it go down. I was too tight. Now I know what too tight means. I didn't like that at all. .75cc's were backed out and I could actually feel the water moving down to my stomach as he was removing some of the fluid. So in total, I have 5.75 cc's in a 10 cc band. Now I have good restriction. Had Tuna for lunch and one large meatball for dinner. Eachone filled me up on 4 oz and held me satisfied for 5-6 hours. Feels great. Today I had a V-8 drink for breakfast alongf with a protein drink. Lunch was 4 oz of meatloaf and a few oz's of mashed potatoe. Sipping water this afternoon and feel good. Can't wait to weigh in tomorrow. :tt1:

  10. Ground beef or Ground turkey is very band friendly. I think it's because it's ground and makes chewing it down to nothing easier than chewing a piece of steak that's fiberous.
  11. You are so right...Your body does tell you - stop, you've had enough. It's a wierd feeling. For me, I start burping ever so slightly and the left side of my chest starts to feel tight. THEN I STOP.........So far so good. I haven't pushed it nor do I want to.
  12. I have to say - When you start to get restricted it's amazing how you feel after eating only 4 oz of food. Yesterday, for lunch I had 3-4 oz's of tuna fish and it held me for hours. Last night, I was able to eat one meatball from the local Italian Rest. ( That's it) and I was satisfied for hours. Truly amazing......
  13. Hi Ann, Yea - It's wierd feeling the Water back up. Had a Protein drink for lunch and I'm really full. I do go back to see the Doc on 6/25/09.
  14. Ann - I'm glad I'm not the only one that had no restriction after the first fill on 6/11/09. I called the Dr yesterday and he took me this morning and put another 2.5 cc's. Drank some water and OH NO! it started to come back up so he pulled .75cc out and the water immediately went down. I now know what being too tight really feels like. I don't like it the feeling at all !!. So in total he put in 5.75cc's ad finally I feel good restriction. Having a Protein drink as I post. So far, so good.
  15. You'll catch up that's for sure. I'll tell you even with my first fill, I'm not restricted. I even have a call into the Dr's office to see if I can step up my appt. Why wait if there is no restriction.....I don't have a problem waiting 2-4 weeks if I have restriction, but this is frustrating. Keeping to 1200 calories and 90 grams of Protein.
  16. Had my first fill and it took all of 5 minutes. Laid down on the table, got stuck and 4cc's were put into my empty band. It was explained that 3 cc's probably went to the tube ad a little to the actual band. Still do not feel restricted. Can eat almost anything but I'm watching calories and quantity. Trying to stay at 1200 calories and 90 grams of protein. Walking 30 minutes per day at least 4 days during the week. The weekends, I'm busy with things around the house. I have a call into the Doc's office to see if I can step up my next appt.

  18. Hi Guys, I was banded 5/11/09 @ NYU . Stayed in overnight as the Dr. also removed my gallbladder. I did lose 50 lbs pre-op. Lost 10 lbs post -op ( the first week after surgery) and haven't lost a pound since. Can eat almost anything but I'm really watching calories and quantity. Trying to eat 1200 calories per day and 90 grams of Protein. Had my first fill last week on 6/11/09. 4cc's were put in but since the lap band was totally empty, most of the 4cc's went to the tube and just inflate the band. I still can eat anything and do not fill restricted at all. Can't wait for my next fill. I have a call into the Dr's office to see if I can step up the appointment. What's the point in waiting ?? if you have no restriction. We'll see. It is fustrating.
  19. I'm trying to stay around 1200 calories and 90 grams of protein. Walking 30 minutes per day. However, even with my first fill, I'm unable to lose anymore weight which is fustrating.
  20. That's great Ann!! Keep up the good work.
  21. Had my first fill late this morning @ NYU Medical Center. Laid back on the table and the nurse practioner immediately found the port and put in 4 cc of Fluid and we were done. I thought that was alot for my first fill and he explained that Dr. Fielding didn't pt any fluid in so 2-3 cc's went to the tube and just inflate the band. So really about 2cc's went to really inflate the band above it's normal size. Drank a small cup of Water and was on my way back to the office. Had a Protein drink for lunch and now I'm sipping water. So far so good. I feel very little restriction but then again I'm only having fluids. Saturday will be the test when I'm on soft foods. Next fill is scheduled for 6/25/09.
  22. I read on a post that if you take your diet coke and put it in the blender for 30 seconds, you can drink it slowly. The blender knocks out most of the CO2.
  23. ENJOY IT !! We just had it again the other night. I just love tilapia......:cursing:
  24. I have the same ones - Cherry flavor....actually tastes pretty good.
  25. My Doc's rule is 5 min before or 25 min after. I find it hard to wait 25 minutes after a meal.
