  1. I would call them 48 hours after the information was sent in. They should have an answer for you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App
  2. Did they ever get back to you?
  3. So there is a new wing and an old wing? Do you get to choose where you will be staying? As far as a nutritionist, you could always use one where you are. So is there someone (from the staff-English speaking) with you at all times? If not, looks like I will be using google translate....lol
  4. Wow! I am so sorry you had to go through all that, but thank you so much for the advice. Good luck on your weight loss journey!
  5. So, I am back yet again, I've been gone for a while. A little history about myself, I'm a nurse (yeah, I know), and I had lap band done in 2009 with removal in 2015, gastric sleeve in Sept 2015. I lost about 40 lbs with the band and gained it all back after 2 babies- no big issues with the band other than vomiting from stuck food. I decided to have the sleeve done last year and have only lost 50 lbs. My highest weight was 309 (pre-sleeve) and I currently weigh 259, my lowest was around 253, so I have started to gain some of my weight back. The sleeve was great, but just not for me. I was told by my MD to do the bypass after the lapband, but I was just too scared. So, after doing a little research on mini gastric bypass, I am thinking of having this surgery. My only setback is that I have to go to Mexico to have it....Yikes! I have researched different surgeons- Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Garcia, and dr. Ponce de leon. What are your experiences with this type of revision? What MD would you recommend? What are the conditions of the hotels that you stay in? How is the staff? English speaking? I do have a cardiac history of heart failure from previous pregnancy. So, I need someone who will give me the extra TLC that I need.
  6. once received by aetna, it took them about a week, but that's because they were missing some information and had to request it.1 week from approval to get surgery date. My date is Sept 3rd.
  7. 1 week for approval and 1 week to schedule my surgery date. Wishing you the best!
  8. I'm Sept 3rd and on liquid diet day 10. I'm in nc
  9. Congratulations! My surgery date is September 3.
  10. Recently got approved to be sleeved, but no date yet. Waiting on preoperative apt with surgeon to decide on date. Glad there is a thread for sistas as well!
  11. congratulations to your new journey, i hope everything goes well. My prayers go out to u!!!! So what's the next step? What is the very next thing u have to do? Thank you! Super excited. Hang in there they will approve you tomorrow. Well, I have to meet with surgeon this week for preoperative appointment to set up surgery date and to discuss preoperative diet (another hurdle).
  12. Finally approved yesterday! 4 surgeon visits, 1 nutrition eval 1 psych eval, other tests and labs required by surgeon
  13. Approved today! 4 visits with surgeon, 1 psych eval, 1 nutrition eval and labs and tests ordered by surgeon
  14. . What did you have to go back and forth about with Aetna, what did they try to say Just making sure they had everything they needed. The MD office forgot to fax all of my information, so had to gobetween aetna and MD office to make sure everybody had what they needed. I'm an inpatient person anyway (working on that), so it just makes it a little harder for me.
  15. Raleigh, NC! Awaiting insurance approval
  16. I'm also hoping to get an answer from Aetna tomorrow after going back and forth with them last week. Good luck to you @@Joymarie333 and @@LaLaLucy! Wishing you the best with your upcoming surgery @@xrayyoung22!
  17. My heart function is around 35% and I have an ICD ( like a pacemaker) and I will be having gastric sleeve next month. I've had a c section and lapband removal with this low heart function and I did fine. I did have to have a special IV placed in my wrist (arterial line) just so they could monitor my BP very closely, but you may not need this. You should be just fine. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
  18. My paperwork was submitted last Thursday and I'm still waiting for an answer. I called Aetna today and they were waiting on physician notes from last week to complete review for approval, it was faxed over today, so I should have an approval tomorrow. I have called them everyday, sometimes 2x a day, so you are not bugging them....it's their job!
  19. I just submitted my paperwork for approval on 7/9 and waiting anxiously for approval. I had 4 visits with my surgeon, 1 nutrition eval, and 1 psych eval along with other tests and labs. Did anybody else get approved with 4 surgeon visits and 1 nutrition eval? I'm starting to get worried because I see most people had 3 visits with nutritionist.
