  2. Boy oh boy, I understand what you mean. I choose to tell my co-workers. I've had crazy questions and comments. Somehave been positive, but others have been making me think what a shallow world we live in. I understand that it is curiosity however, some of the thinks leave me dumb founded. I started to take a new approach, when someone asks me how much have I lost? I'll say I'm not checking oftenbut it feels good when I here my cloth and they are starting to fall off. A co-worker then said, "Isnthis the reason you got the Lapband so you could see how much weight you have lost. I said "No, Lap band is to make me feel healthier and so far it is doing the job well". i also have another co-worker checking me up and down with her head and eyes. Mind you she is more overweight then I was befor Lap. All I can say Im proud to have lost 40lbs since April21,09 with no regrets. thank you for this tread
  3. gas-x would e better than miralax...I was also banded on the 21. The biggest problem for me in my munchy stage is that I made artificial scramble eggs. It KILLLLLED MEEE. I was on my treadmill I walked atleast a half a mile and took a Gas-x. However, do follow your Dr. instructions because you are also having diarrhea, I hope you dont dehydrate.
  4. Not a good idea. Cancel Sx, have a great time at disneyland and come back and get the lap band done.
  5. Hi dawright1, I was banded on the 21., I have the left sidepain that comes and go. I understand the lack of appetite bc it has happen to me. I talked with the drs office today this is all normal, she encourage me to start my munchies today even if i did not want to eat. I'm also taking tylenol for pain. We are now taking babystep to a new you. It will get better but I must say sometimes I think why did I ever get into this situation...
  6. hi lekekari, Today was my first day of munchys, to tell you the truth i was scard bc i had Soup and i was hoping i had chewed everything down. Really, this is a learning event all over again. No pain in the shoulder area, but I do have a back dull pain Like in the mid back area. I also get side pain on my left side obviously bc of the band.
  7. Tcbgirl, Im so sorry to hear you had a complication. I was also banded on the same day. I'm walking as much as I can tolerate. My biggest problem is the deep sore ness I have. But it is getting better. I hope thoughs nurses also have an order for stool softner take it and dont say no. This also helps to eliminate some of the gas. I wish you the best of luck, let me know if i can help with anything else.
  8. Banded on april 21, 2009 I just wanted to let everyone know, I made it through. I was an out patient surgery. Two hours later. I was resting in my own bed. I currently feel okay just a little sore.
  9. langx3, I just got banded on april 21, My doctor said he wants me to focus on healing for this month. He said its not about loosing weight untill my first fill. He also mentioned week one the pouch is new everything you put in must be done by sips or if you can sip it with a straw this is okay. He said week 2 I can have munchy stage. Week3 I will be getting more hungey bc the swelling has gone down.. He said at his time I can start protein bars to keep me more full longer. week 4 can introduce foods one at a time. But my caloric intake should not go above 1200 cals per day. Then I go and get my fill. I hope this helps you
  10. Vicky, Today seems to be a little harder only because of the pain. However, my doctor said I can have anything that can go through a straw ect..protein shackes thin them out if needed. broths, Soups must be blenderized. All fluids are okay. But shakes goes first. My munchy stage start next tuesday. I can have cottage cheese, cream of wheat, mash potatoes, sweet potatoes, he even suggested baby food is okay. But because I am 2-postop I really dont have much of an appitite. I have been walking around since I got banded. Hopes this helps Thanks vicky for your response

I am sooooo nervous too. I will be going in April 21, tomorrow. I've been moving and cleaning my hous this weekend. I have a lot of crazy thoughts going through my brain.
  13. MissChristina, glad to hear every thing went well for you. I will have my surgery on April 21-Tuesday. I too am very afraid of anesthesia b/c I have never been under before. Even though I have some friend that are Anesthesiologist, you think that would help by talking with them, No Not me I am still scared out of my mind. Good luck on your new healthy life.
  14. At the hospital, the protocal is if you can see through it it is considered a liquid. You can as your Dr.
  15. Hang in there!!!!!You can do this Your will power will kick in in high gear. My preop diet consist of 2 shakes and one lowfat low cal meal. My guidelines are no more than 1200cal/per day including shakes. I guess very dr is different but it really is bothering you, you can call your Dr office and talk with them. I sometimes think these preop diets are suppose to be to shrink the liver however, if we make a mistake now it is better we learn from it to make a better choice next time especially when we have the lap band in. I also realize that we are dealing with an addiction. This is why we all had to make this choice of bettering ourselves and have a better future. Get yourself off the ground and today is another day. You can do this. Guilt can be our worst enemy.
  16. Are u also including your caloric intake for your shakes? My dr said veg , fruits and low fat/ low calorie meal per day, and 2-shakes 60-80 gm of protein. Everything must be counted. For me, my Dr is specific at this time to stay under 1200 cals per day. This is how I'm doing it.
  17. WOW!!!!You found the remedy that works for you very well. Thanks for letting us know that exercise will still play an important factor in our lives. The continuation of watching what we eat and having a strong will can only get us reach our goal much faster.--Thanks for the info.
  18. I am also on my 5th day of pre-op diet. I am thankful I always liked water but sometimes it seem like a drag..
  19. I am feeling very sad and depressed at this time. I would have pictured starting my preop diet as a time of being elated with happiness. However, my pug puppy for 9 months had to be put down due to congenital heart disease he was born with. That was not found out of until yest as i pleaded to convice the vet there was something wrong with my dog. I went ahead and started my diet but i am feel very depressed upset and sad. I know this was the best for cujo. Thank you for listening
  20. Hi everybody I am soooooooooo happy to say Pre-op April 7 and surgery day April 21....A little nervous but very excited

  23. Hi.....I understand where you are coming from...Some times you need to refect on your life and try to see how you can help yourself and make it better for the future. This was my reason and my reflection that i know the Lap Band will be able to help me with....There is no doubt this is a lifestyle change and I am willing to accept that already.
  24. Yesterday, i went in to my dr.s office to schedule my surgery day..As I walked in i told the Staff assistant " I'm soooo happy to be here doing this", she then responded "I 've been doing it so much that she cannot be happy anymore(This was the staff assistantwho was doing my final appointment before surgery). At first, I wanted to say something but then I said to myself she will not disrupt my peace. Yes, there is a lot of people full of their own comments and opinions. We just need to continue to be strong.
