Today is SOOOOOO slow
Dead here!! In about 5 min I will be the only one left until 4:30. So I plan on sitting at the front desk playing Bloons on ninjakiwi.com. I also have to work the weekend but am off all of next week.

Warning: Save your money for goal
Tell me about it, I am 5 foot even and I have a problem with walking on my hems. Right now I am wearing a pair of jeans that all I have to do is undo the belt and they slide right off. I’m lucky I guess because we don’t have to dress up for work. Just jeans and a work t-shirt that I don't even have to tuck in.

Jmcambra - 3 lbs down!! Hot Dang!! I am so happy for you. You have been busting your butt and you do deserve it. Janine - I am at a point where at times I can eat way too much, but on other days, I get stuck on tuna. I don't know if I want another fill or not. I don't want to push it. I hope you get to a good restriction and quit haveing to "yo-yo" fill. OHJuli - I don't know how I missed it, but are you over 100 lbs down?? Holy carp!! Way to go!!

Help - I'm getting Complacent
After reading what MizPeppy wrote, I had to comment. Sorry for the hijack. I wish the rest of the world realized that obesity wasn’t a “character flaw”. For the most part we are seen as lazy slobs with no self control or respect. Just as no one strives to be an alcoholic, we didn’t decide one day that we wanted to be obese. Yet people that are alcoholics and drug addicts are seen as having a “disease”, they have organizations (different rehabs, the Salvation Army, etc) that will help them become clean and sober. Where as we are seen as gluttonous and just need to learn to “put down that fork”. There is no one out there that is willing to pay my bills so I can go into rehab to get my obesity in check. This is something that each and every one of us has had to do on our own. And until people realize the obesity is a disease, we will all just have to keep fight the good fight and keep on keeping on. With that being said, I completely understand wanting to sabotage myself when I get to a certain weight or size. I find myself saying that I can be happy at this weight/size. Then I do a big reality check. At 5 foot even, 184 lbs is not a healthy weight. Heck my goal of 135 is still considered overweight. So I look in my medicine cabinet and take down my diabetic pills (which, since banding, I don’t have to take anymore) and ask myself if I want to go back there again. I already have kidney problems, becoming an insulin dependent diabetic will surly not help with that. Then I will walk down the stair to my basement and walk back up again just so I don’t hear my knees going snap/crackle/pop and how not out of breath I am. My motivation is not in a pant size or number on the scale, it’s my health. I just have to keep reminding myself that and it helps. Granted, when thing get really bad, I do have a sexy nighty that I have put away in a size 10, and I do pull it out as needed also. LOL

Semi-gross question-enter at your own risk!
For about the first month after being banded I was like this, now I would kill for it!! Now once a week is about the norm. How long have you been banded?

5 years or being overweight, or obese????
Do what I did when we had a choice of switching insurance, call them and ask.

I forgot to add that I am 1 lb over half way. I didn’t want to edit because they haven’t gotten that fixed yet. So 51 gone and 49 to go.

Same Day Apposed To Overnight Stay
My insurance also considers it a same day procedure if it is under 23 hours. I figured that they didn’t start the clock until I was taken from recovery to my room because my surgery was around 7am and I didn’t leave the hospital until about 11am the next day. Granted, I had a crappy roommate (daughter spent the night with her and they talked and watched TV all night) so I think I would have gotten better rest if I went home, but was glad someone was there to help me get up out of bed the first few hours after surgery. And you do get the best pain meds in the hospital. LOL

Marchies In December
Well, here I sit, 4 lbs from my Christmas goal of 180 and for some reason my ankle is killing me. I didn’t twist it, bang it, stretch it or bruise it, it just hurts like hell to walk on it. I have no idea what the heck is wrong. I am still going to push for my goal, but decided it will not be the end of the world if I don’t make it right on Christmas day. I found myself getting almost depressed about not being 180 by Christmas and had to started reminding myself about all the great things that have happened to me since I’ve been banded. Like I am off all my diabetic meds, my knees don’t snap/crackle/pop when I walk, my back isn’t killing me, I have gone from a snug 22 to a snug 14 and I can walk up stairs without breathing hard. Best of all, I feel good about myself, granted I am still overweight, but now I know that this too shall pass. The weight is coming off, albeit slower then I would like, but it is coming off. I am trying to remind myself that the numbers on the scale are secondary to the health benefit that I have already achieved. Now if I do make 180 by Christmas, I am going to be very excited and my fellow Marchies will be the first to know, but if I don’t make it right on that day, it’s ok, the key is knowing that I AM GOING TO MAKE IT.

Marchies In December
Mine doc does them between 1 and 2. My appt seems to always be 1:20 and nothing to eat 1 hour before hand. I try and eat something light for lunch that day because I know that I have to get on the scale and am working for every oz I can get.

Healthier Stocking Stuffers
I try and put some smaller gifts in the stocking, this way I don’t have to wrap them. My dd is getting perfume, a brush and comb set, and lip balm. My ds will be getting some hand tools. They are both getting that 20 Q game. I don’t put food stuff in the stockings, never have. Granted, we celebrate St. Nicholas day, Dec 6, with the kids putting their boats outside the door and in the morning if it has switches in it they know that they had better get on the ball and start behaving. If it has a chocolate in it, that means that they are doing fine. My kids get both, just to keep them guessing.

Marchies In December
My family knows that when I have a fill, they are eating out. This also gives me some quiet time at home all alone which I love. This is also the reason I don't keep junk food in my house, I was a closet eater and it would be so easy to fall into that habbit again. So when I get a fill, there is no crap or quick fixing foods in the house, just lots of SF popcicles.

Am I too tight? Please help...
Mbanja said it all. If you are not pbing and swallow liquids, give it a few more days, you might still be swollen from the fill.

Unique Gifts for Christmas
I think I would love one of those. It would be interesting see how we sleep in a waterbed. LOL.

Unique Gifts for Christmas
I got both my kids stars a few years back. My sons is named ABGB, that is short for his baby knickname, Angle Baby Gooshie Butt. My daughters is Boo Bug, again baby knickname. My husband got me 1 sq foot in WY, complete with hunting rights, one year. I thought that was cool until I heard about Ireland. Now I want some land in Ireland.

Where does the fat go?
I don’t think that much of it becomes "waste" or I wouldn’t be so constipated, ya know what I mean. But fat cells do have a long memory.

the last hurrah?
Fudge? Did someone say Fudge? I decided not to make any this year because it is too tempting. With me, I wanted a large steak and lots of it for my "last supper". I still find that I miss being able to eat as much as before. But am finding that I taste my food more now than before because I eat so slowly.

That is the part about fills I hate. Not the needle or the wait, the full liquids. I get sooooooo hungry by supper time. It makes for one long evening.

I Hate My Band!!!!!!!!
I would like to address what you said about you sleeping on the couch and you and you dh "barely on good speaking terms". No matter how bad it gets, nothing will get better in my home if my dh and I are at odds. When this happens, I don’t care about anything. I don’t care if the house is cleaned, the bills are paid, if I exercise or what goes into my mouth. It will make me sick. You need to work on fixing this. Is there anyway you could have your folks or a friend take your son for a night so you and your dh can have some alone time to talk. When he comes home, meet him at the door, look him in the eyes and say "I love you". Tell him how important he is to you and let him know that nothing else matters but your relationship. Hopefully the conservation will start rolling from there. And no more sleeping on the couch, you belong in the same room as your husband. If you two can work on getting your relationship back where is should be, it would help elevate the "extreme stress" you are under, which in turn should help put everything else in perspective. Best of luck and know that we are here for you.

Hi! I'm New
Shan71 Try Gas-X strips. Those and a heating pad should help with the gas pains. Also, walk, walk, walk. This will help get the gas out also. Good luck and congrats.

I Have A Needle Phobia!!
My doc doesn’t use numbing spray or a shot. I just focus on a spot on the ceiling and take slow, steady breaths. I don’t like it when she pulls it out, the tugging bothers me.

Good Stores for Transitioning from Plus to Regular
Thanks for the tip on Steve and Barry's, HeatherA. I just found out that they opened a store here less than a month ago. Plan on checking them out with my dd after the holidays. So far, my transistion clothes have come from the back of the closet. I don't have to dress up for work, just jeans and my work shirt. But it is nice to find clothes that fit again that I haven't been able to get into for a while. I also don't mind going to the Goodwill near my house. They have everything hung according to size so it is easy to find what I'm looking for. But when I need to dress up, I like the Dress Barn and LB.
