bodybugg food logging versus Dailyplate.com
Well, the bodybugg program made me realize the value of food logging, but the program itself and specifically the search feature was driving me a little crazy. That and it drove me a little crazy that it was fairly rigid on inputs and wouldn't let you go forward or backward to input food. I decided to try the free version of dailyplate.com. Not only is it much better at both things I didn't like about the bodybugg food logger, but it is also much more user friendly. Man I am just flying through my logging now. I am defintely going to use it to log my food intake, and just use the bodybugg for calculating calorie burn. I seem to still be bouncing on my weight loss, but I'm sensing that I have broken through the plateau and I'm going to start losing again. On a side note, my band did start out with a certain amount of restriction right after the fill, got loser by day 3 and then on about day 10 it got a little tighter again. I have heard this is common, but really didn't believe it until I experience it. My next fill should get me pretty close to the sweet spot. I can feel success coming right around the corner. Also, the more I exercise the more water weight I tend to retain??? I always thought it was just the opposite? I have been doing my swimming on one day and walking the next and then back to swimming. Also, I started going to the dry sauna after swimming to get my body temperature back up before going home. I have no idea why, but it really helps with my restriction at night. It could be that it gets some of the water out of my system, or it could just be a temperature thing? I have been drinking 50 ounces of my water in the day and just 20 ounces at night. This again seems to help my restriction at night and means less waking up to go pee at night.

Would you do it again?
I agree, especially for self-pay people. For Insurance people, they probably don't have this option, just depends.
-
Fighting insurance, is it worth it?
You could look at the positive nature of this problem. Since you are going to be self-pay anyway, you could go straight for the gastric sleeve. In reality, if the gastric sleeve was paid for by insurance companies like the band, the gastic sleeve would probably be more popular and more frequent. Your asking the right questions....and my response is because you are asking about future complications and costs. With the sleeve they are mostly covered from the beginning, as that is when complications happen with the sleeve. With the band the dirty secret is that complications and problems will almost always result after they are covered by the surgeon, and if your self pay, then you will have to pay from it. The only exception to that rule is if it is an emergency like a slipped band causing you to not get any Water....but then they usually just take it out, and now your screwed all over again.

Losing the Battle of right and wrong!!!
I run about a 1000 calorie defecit per day, and haven't lost anything in one month. I have had a lot of sugar free chocolate cravings, but I account for the calories. I am getting frustrated....a month of doing everything right and averaging 1200 calories a day, and no net weight loss!!!!!!!

Take it out or Tuff it out
Your risking everything. But you know your body better then anyone. Will it loosen back up soon? Or will it only loosen back up when you have starved and lost weight. If it is the latter, I just don't think it is worth the risk. But, .2cc after being just fine, might be mostly swelling? It just depends on how your body reacts. Heck I can have a fill right now and be perfect, then a week later the swelling goes down, and I'm practically back to normal. I will say that it is getting better with each fill and I can tell I will eventually get to where the filll will last a lot longer.

Female Invasion of the Mens Room
Of course he is in his 50's, maybe he needs a little something to kick his sex drive into action? I don't know if they even make such a thing. I know the older I get the less and less important sex is to me, but the more and more important my wife is to me. I love her every year more then I did the last. I think its time to get some counseling or move on. If he hasn't checked out, he will get the counseling just because you want the counseling.

Flying and the band
Just make sure you stay hydrated. Altitude changes in reality do very little to change the band, not nearly as much as hydration levels can change things. It is much easier to become less hydrated at higher altitudes because the air is drier, and your body literally has the moisture almost sucked out of it. I fly almost everyday.

Weight Watchers?
I'm confused by WW. In the end, isn't it really just counting calories? I mean yes you can have more calories if it has a lot of fiber, and less if it is mostly fat, but how is that really different then what we are suppose to eat? I thought we were suppose to be watching our calorie content even after the band?
-
Will I ever get restriction?????
I am also one of those people who in the morning have good restriction, but at night, can still eat way too much. I'm really watching my calories close now, but still no scale movement. Heck I'm now going on one month with little or no weight loss, but my clothes are definitely looser?

Vomiting!!! Post surgery!
You may have given yourself a little food poisening. Usually, vomitting that is that bad and only lasts 24 hours is something you ate....it may have had nothing to do with your band.

Really stuck for the first time-left over meat
That is a most excellant idea, thanks

three-week plateau
I have been sitting in the same 2-3lb range for awhile now. I have the same exact problem. If only the band was tight at night and lose in the morning. I plan to keep getting filled until it takes warm liquid in the morning to eat. I think that is pretty much what it is going to take in order to control me at night. I'm also thinking about going to a liquid Protein drink for supper, just to control myself.

Really stuck for the first time-left over meat
Well, I was eating left over salmon the other day, and for some reason, it got stuck. I think it being left over it is just too dry? Well normally, stuck isn't all that bad, but this time it was horrible. I had to wait a couple of hours and it actually, pysically hurt. Then finally it started to subside, and the went away. Afterward, I could just barely sip warm water until everything started to go back to normal. I was getting really worried that I would have to go to the hospital when it didn't clear right away. It was late friday and my local fill doctor was already gone. I will never eat left over meat like that again. I went back on liquids until the swelling from the barfing went down. Its been about 30 hours and I can tell I'm pretty much back the way I was and am ready to eat normal again.

Body rejecting the band?
I guess we were typing at the same time. Notice how similar the response is????? Think about it.

Body rejecting the band?
I was actually trying to help you, but you seem to be convinced by the upmost ethical nature of these doctors, so I will let it be.... By the way, my brother died from GB, and during the decline the doctor had many, many doctors consult, all just as incompetent or just to cover his ass. Why? Because he wanted as many people as possible to testify later that they didn't see anything wrong with what he had done or was doing. You know they did exactly that, even after looking back over everything, the bunch of idiots saw nothing wrong. Funny, we hired a lawyer, and he got a real expert on GB to look at everything. It took him 20 minutes to tell us why my brother died and why he should never even have had the surgery. You know what the hospital did after seeing his deposition and findings? Paid my family 600,000 dollars for the obvious screw up they made. But, hey believe what you want, and don't post a position or statement if you don't think people should question it, or wonder why you are saying it....that is forum 101. If you just want to say anything and not have people say anything back, you should definitely not post on a forum ever again.

Exactly two months, having to figure out some things
Well, I got the bodybugg because I was a little frustrated with the lack of progress lately. So far I am eating half of the calories that I am burning each day, and that runs about 1000 calories of deficit a day. So I should be losing at least 1lb and more likely 2lbs each week. My average for the week is now running about 2400 calories burned and 1200 eaten. Boy I hope this strategy works, I'm a little frustrated right now with the lack of movement on the scale. I did get stuck once yesterday, first time for that in a long time. I think it was a part of a pecan that didn't go down. Boy it really worried me at first. I didn't drink any water, because that just makes it worse, and after about 30 minutes it did pass.

Body rejecting the band?
I think you are either mixing terms or someone is bull shittting you to avoid a lawsuit. You should definitely get a second opinion from another surgeon, this smells of a surgeon telling you half truths or intentionally letting you misunderstand something in order to avoid a lawsuit. Or you or just flat out misunderstanding something they are saying. I can't believe you really think an infection came from your band. It isn't like plastic spontaneously generates a bacterial or viral infection. It has to come from somewhere, and frankly it is more likely from the surgery itself. You are the one that is saying the surgeon says you had infection everywhere??? The skeptic in me says "follow the money trail, and you will almost always know the real answer".

Still loving my bodybugg and it seems to be helping me
Well, I'm not really to the sweet spot yet. Here is how a normal day breaks down for me. 200 for breakfast 300 for lunch 200 for protein supplement or snack 500 for dinner I have almost no restriction at supper, it is all self control. I'm not sure what you think is normal with the lapband, but most weight loss programs have you eating around 1200 calories for the best loss without your body reducing its metabolism or hanging onto fat. I'm hoping on April 1st when I get my next fill, I will be down to a little more restriction at dinner, and only have maybe 300 at dinner. As I lose more, I will need to reduce more and exercise more or I will stop losing. This is pretty much true for everyone.

By the way, that calorie deficit difference should me an extra pound loss each week. Since I was down to about a 1 pound loss per week, this should give me a solid 2 pound per week loss??? We will see how it works out.

Still loving my bodybugg and it seems to be helping me
Well I'm doing good on the eating and my restriction is still pretty good. I can't say enough about how much the bodybugg has worked for me. I like the calorie counter and it seems to be helping me to now be more motivated to excercise. It just seems more rewarding to see the excercise do something for me each day in my calorie defecit versus just waiting for the scale to change. And it is still really helping me to properly track my calories and I'm even starting to make better food choices because of it. Man, I sound like a commercial for BodyBugg. I have heard about another product and I will post the name of it....it is suppose to be more accurate and a lot cheaper....but I can't remember the name of it right now. I have always liked aspargus, but now that I see the calorie count, I LOVE asparagus!!! Anyway, I have been running about 2600-2800 calorie burn per day, as apposed to about 2200 before the bodybugg, and I'm now eating about 1200-1300 calories a day and not going over by a couple of hundred a day. If the bodybug helps me continue to do these things, it was worth every penny and more. Going out to eat tonight and I already know what I'm going to order, because I have 600 calories to eat, and I know I can have some soup, grilled salmon, and asparagus for that kind of calories.

Female Invasion of the Mens Room
I track calories in and calories out. But to tie the two together, the other day I was showing my wife how the BodyBugg recorded extra calorie burn while we were having sex. She didn't find it as informational as I did? But, she did note that like most excercise, that if it lasted longer I would burn more calories??? I wonder why she mentioned that?
