Dec 19 band date
Welcome Mudbug! It looks like the Dec 19th bandsters are right about the same place when it comes to weight loss. I know that I don't want to lose wt too fast and have a lot of loose skin, but at the same time my vanity wants to be thin immediately!! I guess I can never be happy!!

Mississippi Bandsters!
Hello Mississippi bandsters!! I was banded 12/19/08 and have my first post-op appt 1/26 and hope to get my first fill then. I can't imagine what that will feel like, but I am ready for some restriction!! Once my swelling went down after surgery I have not had any restriction and I am not losing much weight. I have to learn to be more patient with this entire process!!

Dec 19 band date
Hello all 12/19/08 bandsters!! I doing good. My postop MD visit will be 1/26 and I hope to get my first fill at that time. I had restriction until the swelling went down after surgery, but none now that I can tell. I went back to work 1/5, my online class resumed 1/6, and haven't had must time to post. I haven't lost any weight this past week, only 15 pounds total. I spoke with the nurse from MD office and she said that was in line with what they expect immediately post op, but I was hoping for more!!

Dec 19 band date
Hope everyone had a good Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised that I was not tempted by everything that was on the table! I did have a spoon of dressing at lunch and then a spoon of sweet potato at dinner, and it tasted sooooo good!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Hello everyone! I was banded on the 19th and have not had any problems, other than a pocket of gas in my left shoulder that will NOT go away!! I am on full liquids now, and am doing ok, no real hunger but I am having food cravings....I would give a Kings ransom for some garlic toast! Is that bizarre or what!! Is this common? How long do these last? I also have question about feeling full...do you actually have a full feeling, or just don't feel hungry? I am not hungry, but don't really have the full feeling we are all used to. I thought I was up to shopping yesterday....WRONG!! I made it to the first store, made my purchase, and came home. I guess I will send my hubby to purchase gift cards today! I really thought I knew what to expect after surgery, but it seems that there is a new question with every day. Even with that, I think this is the best thing I have done for myself in years!! Merry Christmas everyone!! Mary

Dec 19 band date
Southe1010, How are you? I was banded on 19th and am doing OK. It is suprising the difference in post op orders from docs. Mine said the only limitation we had was if it hurts don't do it!! Of course, I am taking it easy. Thought I was up to shopping yesterday so decided to finish some last minute Xmas, WRONG!!! I made it to the first store, stood in line for my purchase, and decided I might not be doing that good! I am still having trouble with gas pains in left shoulder...will be glad when that leaves! Also, I am having a "craving" as I did while pregnant!! I would give anything for some garlic toast!! Is that bizarre or what? I know I won't give into that, but I wonder how long before that goes away. Has anyone else experienced this???

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
My surgery was today. Had to be at hospital @ 0515 and I was put in a preop room abt 0615. I was given the surgical gown, answered a few questions, and watched the morning news program for a few minutes. I was then taken on the stretcher to the surgery holding area, met with anesthesiologist, spoke with my surgeon and they placed my IV. I wasn't there long, maybe 20 minutes. Then on to the OR room. I transferred to the bed, the compression sleeves were put on my legs, and i was hooked up to the monitors. My nurse anesthesiologist told me she was going to give me soe med thru my IV and the next thing I knew I was in recovery!! They give meds for nausea and pain automatically and I had no problems. I was back in the room with my husband by 0915 - 0930. My doctor required me to stay until 1400 so it was afternoon before I went home. I have been walking around the house, sipping fluids. I did have to take some paid med when I arrived home, but none since. The pain in my shoulder has gone. All in all I think I had a wonderful experience.

Where Decembers Bandsters?
I think we all worry about some of the same things. I am a surgical nurse and have been in on many lapbands surgeries but I am still nervous about it. I will be naked and catheritized by people that I have to work with everyday!! The closer it gets, the more apprehensive I get! But this time next week it will be over and I will be banded...yea!!!

New 60+ Thread
HI! Another day down and 4 to go! I was not referring to anything other than I had read all of the posts and for some reason thought I wanted to clarify that I know what I am getting into and what to expect. Did that make sense?? I am getting really excited now! Mary
