  1. It's definitely a personality issue. I like the idea of going to an in person meeting but since I began reading this site, I'm sorry, but some people have the ability to irritate me IN WRITING! I can only imagine the eye rolling I could do in person! LOL
  2. Sounds great. The only thing I might suggest is instead of just "In the past, I have tried a variety of weight loss methods" Specifically list those programs you've tried and maybe even your success and regain? Just a thought. Best of luck to you!
  3. I love my magic bullet!!! I suppose as loud as a blender, but is great for small amounts and is super easy to clean!! You can blend it, cover it, refrigerate it, mirowave it, eat it all in the same container.
  4. Congratulations on the closet clearing. I hope to be there soon. Yesterday was the first day I tried on any older clothes. I was really surprised at the things that are fitting me again. Like someone above said, it's kind of scary because I keep thinking while I got down to fit in to these once and got fat again, maybe I shouldn't get rid of anything. I'm not sure about the Right Fit jeans but I'm built like that also, and back when I was smaller I really used to like the jeans from New York & Co. You might want to check them out.
  5. I STOPPED BITING MY NAILS!!! I have no idea why but since I have been banded I have not bitten my nails or my cuticles. I have always bitten my nails for as long as I can remember, I mean super bad, made them bleed on occasion, bad. Now, 5 weeks post-op, my nails are long enough to actually get a manicure. hehe  The only thing I can think of is that I am so conscious of everything that goes in my mouth it just doesn't happen anymore. Anybody else?
  6. This is soooo funny!! I did the same thing!!!! I never cooked much but after I was banded and before I could eat, I was cooking everything!! I would watch the food network while I was on my elliptical and then make what I saw for my family. Or make the recipes on the cream Soup cans that I was eating. My husband couldn't understand it, he kept saying "why are you torturing yourself" but what was so funny is I wasn't. I couldn't explain it. It's like it allowed me to still have a relationship with food in a really warped sort of way, LOL:out:
  7. Those billboards are crazy!! Down the 605 Freeway in about a 2 mile stretch every single billboard is about the lap-band, one right after the other. I really don't think it will allow that many more people to get it as it is still more expensive then most people can afford. The thing for me is, I haven't told many people, maybe 4 and now with those popping up all over the place makes me even less likely to tell anybody. It is embarrasing, like having to claim a cracked out cousin! LOL
  8. IF you have good credit, have you thought about using a credit card? There are also a lot of Doctors offices that have finance companies you could go through.
  9. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx9gVDCnT84]YouTube - Tricep Dips[/ame] You can do these using a kitchen chair too, just make sure it won't slide back on you.
  10. Just checking in to see how it went! I know you're not hungover:tongue: That is one upside to it all I suppose!!!!
  11. Here's the latest: LOS Angeles – The woman who gave birth to octuplets this week conceived all 14 of her children through in vitro fertilization, is not married and has been obsessed with having children since she was a teenager, her mother said. Grandma: Octuplets mom obsessed with having kids - Yahoo! News You do realize Grandpa is a native of Iraq, not a U.S. Service man right?
  12. Isn't 7 layer dip considered a mushie so long as you eat it with a spoon? Hehehe
  13. Amen to that!!!!!
  14. Did they mention how a port can get flipped?
  15. Congratulations on the weight loss! I would say don't question WHY you're eating less, just go with it. I find it kind of odd with some other posts I've read that some seem to be more concerned with NEEDING a fill then enjoying the fact that they're eating less and losing weight. Just my observation. Keep up the good work!
  16. It is not goofy, it is wonderful!!!! Congratulations!!!!
  17. :Banane56:HAHAHA:bananadoggywow: Only tried it a few times when seriously drunk and always had regrets the next day.
  18. :Banane34:BEER!!! Especially this Sunday! All you can eat, all you can drink superbowl party. Talk about HELL!!!:bored:
  19. I read on a previous post that "papaya enzyme" helps. They are chewable tablets that you can buy at GNC. As a matter of fact I just bought some today, not that I plan on getting stuck, but figure if I can be prepared with options...just in case.... Here's the link to GNC if anyone wants to check it out. GNC
  20. I'm a, well used to be, a big drinker myself. Big time Beer girl, my excuse this far has been that "no drinking" was my new year's resolution. I tell you, some poeple mourn the loss of food before banding; I was just trying to figure out what I could drink that wasn't carbonated, LOL, and I HATE hard liquor. However, my husband said that's when he realized I was serious about this when he found out I would forever have to give up beer. Sorry for rambling, I'm still in mourning:crying: Anyway, have you thought about wine? Easy to sip, not expected to guzzle. Or how about a bloody mary, not quite breakfast but another sippy drink, cranberry and vodka with extra ice and take you're time eating every ice cube after and be sure to drink a lot of water too. Easy way is buy the other girls lots of shots so they're so $hit faced they won't even notice you're not drinking!! :thumbup:HAHA
  21. I found the book "Eating Well After Weightloss Surgery" by Patt Levine (a bandster herself). I was in Borders wasting time and found it, it is the coolest thing ever!!! I came back excited to share with everybody only to search and find that I hadn't "discovered" it, LOL DARN!! It came out in 2004. What I think is so cool about it is that for every recipe it has serving guidelines for -Lap-Band (weeks 1-4(puree), 5-8, and 9+) it also has guidelines for bypass, and other WLS. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, as I just bought it today, but they all look pretty easy. It has breakfast through desserts and all are high protein, low fat, and "good" carbs. Good intro too. Anyway, look forward to trying some stuff out.
  22. LOL, sorry I have no answer or suggestions for you, I just started laughing when I saw that you had to clarify "face lips" HAHAHA:lol: Childish of me? Yep, hahaha
  23. Thank you all for your suggestions! I was at Wal-Mart yesterday looking to buy some benifiber powder and ended up buying some liquid fiber "Ready Fiber" by health direct. Started taking it today so I have no idea how well it works. Plus, today was my first day on "real" food so I'm sure I'll find out soon!!
