Welcome to LBT Laura! Yours sounds like a familiar story! I turn 50 on the 27th. I can eat more than my teenage boys...and let me tell you those too-skinny boys can eat A LOT! I also have high blood pressure, and one of my sisters has had two stroke (also diabetes, and high blood pressure). My dad has had 2 heart attacks (he's overweight but not huge...all 5 of us kids are though). Sounds familiar huh? You'll get there soon!!! You're on the journey now and that's a step in the right direction! Hang in there! -BG
  2. I think I need to start packing too...3 1/2 days! Already I can't sleep at night...LOL!

Spew! Spew! Spew! LOL!!! What happens in Vegas...
  4. If you go to the 'Forum' tab at the top here and then down to 'Doctors and Hospitals' you can do a search there or start a new thread. There are MANY people here who have used Dr. Ortiz (I saw him on the TV show 'The Doctors' too...he seemed really professional). Good luck to you and WELCOME to LBT!!! -BG

    Must feel wonderful!! Congrats Pete!

Where's the Spew Alert?? ROTFLMAO!!! Good for you!!!
  7. This is a great idea pre-op, but remember that most docs don't allow anything acidic for awhile post-op (citrus, tomatoes, etc.). LOL, yeah, we've tried to bring everyone here (this thread is on the pre-op forum, which we all won't be much longer) over to our very own April 09 Bandsters Forum- CLICK: HERE (there are lots of threads you can get involved in for people being banded in April-Bunny Bandsters so join us there.). Threads just have a mind of their own though LOL!

I feel the pain. I haven't looked at mine either...it was hard enough having DH take them (months ago)....we'll look once we've lost some, then it will be motivation and a happy thing to look at the change (I hope). :-)
  9. I can't believe I'm only five days away *jumps up and down giggling*. The 6 months took forever, but now everything is speeding up...super fast motion!!! SOMEONE PLEASE PUSH PLAY ON THE REMOTE BUTTON! OK, that's better...I'm getting a little panicky (go figure!)...I don't think it's the surgery so much (probably way more than I know), as it is about everything else like; 'not' telling the kids (they'll just know it's a stomach/hernia type surgery...I think I'll tell them this weekend), and then there's getting better in time to get everything ready for all the company coming for the graduation dinner on the 1st...you know how it is...I'll scrub the house before surgery, but then there's a week and a half for the family to trash it again (it's a boys club here right now, remember?)...and DH is out of town the 3 days before the event...yikes! My OCD tendencies to have the house spotless for company will be kicking in long before then. OK, so in 6 months you think I could have come up with something more clever than the countdown of the space-shuttle to send myself off...phallic symbol and all that...well, it's big and heavy and it needs this giant 'Crawler' to get to the launch pad (at least it fits on it...I'll probably be hanging off the gurney), and it sheds unneeded sections!! It was either that or the New Year's crystal ball...and that's a 'downer' (hee hee)...it's the best I could do this week...I'M FLUSTERED, remember?!! Get used to it peeps...more space shuttle on its way! I'm finally on my way to *Hits the high note 'AHHHHHHH'* Bandlandia!!!!! I wonder what it looks like 'on the other side'? No, don't tell me, I want to be surprised! Now, countdown with me... 5!...Countdown To BG's Banding!!!

Good Job Paxie! Feel better soon!
  11. 'Bandster Heaven'...ahhhh, can't wait to get there!
  12. I sent a PM your way. Thinking of you!
  13. JT- You're freaking me out again...collated & stapled (ok, I know I'm not getting stapled)...now what?! LOL! From my blog here yesterday (had my pre-op physical)... I went on to give my gallon of blood (had to point out my best vein as usual...I have 'bad veins')...
  14. Thanks workinit! I'll be here!

Whooo HOOO! I've been waiting to hear this from you! Got a date yet?
  16. Great job!
  17. 224.5 today...not great, but I'll take it. It was an up and down week due to Easter travel. I've got to remind myself that the average for LB is 1.5-2 per week. It's not going to happen fast for me as a Low BMI'er and I need to accept that now or I'm going to go through this disappointed every week.
  18. Hey BABY BUNNY!!! Woot! This is great that you're doing this at such a young age...wish this had been around years ago for me! That's awesome that you've lost so much! I'm sure it feels great. Hang in there, the sleeping should get better soon, if not call your doc and ask him if there's anything you can take to help you sleep. Best Wishes!
  19. LOL, the words, not the pics (didn't peek-I'm pre-op). Words to live by in 'Bandster Hell'! We all need to remember this is a time to heal and not worry about the weight so much before fills (remember, many gain during this part, so you're doing great to maintain).
  20. Hey guys! I had my pre-op physical/testing this morning...short blog HERE on LBT if you're interested (or below as always). Chelle- everyone's doc requires/doesn't (my case) different pre-op diets and yours is pretty normal. I'm doing a self-imposed one; 2 shakes and a small dinner like yours. I stopped at the stores and loaded up today. Got my Gas X strips and lots of new food. I found a big jug of Isopure powder; they're on sale at GNC (usually $60 for about $40)...I bought the fruit punch (hope it's good like everyone says). Bought some more chewable vitamins/C&D, Special K Protein Water, and a whole bunch of sugar free or low sugar items as well as fat free stuff to try out (I was amazed how many things now come this way). I feel like I'm 'nesting'...LOL!
  21. I was at my pre-op physical downtown at the hospital by 8am this morning (I’m so glad I don’t have to drive in rush hour traffic daily anymore…poor DD will be doing that route soon). The physical was basically a huge list of questions and a short bit of the usual listening to your heart, say ahhh stuff. Oh, and I did find out that the overnight hospital stay is because of a law here...interesting. I asked how the office was holding up under the stress of their head Dr. leaving. Well, of course that opened the floodgates…they’re all really hurt that he left without a word and many of them had been working closely with him for a decade (they really loved him and are both mourning his loss and are upset at how it was handled). Apparently, they did have to reschedule some surgeries last week, but my doc is now handling the load just fine. We chatted about all this for awhile and I’d made another new friend in the office by the time I left. I went on to give my gallon of blood (had to point out my best vein as usual...I have 'bad veins')... ...and then on to another department for a chest x-ray (didn’t have to do the EKG since the cardiologist had already done one). So, as long as ‘no news is good news’ from my pre-op physical, this long and winding road has finally come to an end and I'm all set for next Wednesday!!! (Tell Shel Silverstein I finally found it!)

  23. Thanks! Ahhh...if only determination were enough...hopefully with the band!
  24. Hi Early! We're Band Buddies/Twins! Have you done your pre-op physical yet? I know what you mean...I've been thinking about this going to sleep too. I checked in here last night before I went to bed and poor Hannahj914 was up and couldn't sleep...I sent her a PM...I know that will be me next week! So what did you pick for your last food (for awhile)? I have to be at my physical early tomorrow...hope all goes well...you keep thinking something is going to go wrong huh (at least I do)?
