  1. I just had my post-op visit and they've now gotten rid of the pureed stage. I'm now on the 'Lifetime Diet' but the new sheet they gave me is just a list of suggested foods with no amounts or details (the original one with the NUT was more specific). I'd like to know what rules you were given for your Lifetime Diet (real solid foods). I'm sure everyone's includes: no drinking with meals, eat Protein first then fruits/veggies. The other things I'd like to know are specifically: 1. No drinking ___ min. before meals? 2. No drinking ___ min. after meals? 3. Must drink ___ oz. per day? 4. Protein ___ oz. or grams, per meal or per day? 5. Total meal size ___ cups or ounces per meal? 6. Snacks or no snacks between meals? 7. Calories ___ per day? 8. Any other rules? Thanks so much for your help!

  3. Spreadsheet- look at LL's post #172 here...it's the attachment at the bottom, just click on it (she updates it weekly).
  4. Congrats WannaB!!! Great weight loss...especially as we're all entering Bandster Hell! LingLing- Can't wait to see the new %...that will be too cool to see what % we are toward our goal...very motivating! You ROCK!
  5. Up until now, not much except some walking. I started working in the yard this weekend and overdid it a little (it's hard to bend to weed, plant, etc. with the port area still swollen...I'm afraid of flipping it). Today is my post-op appt. so I should be cleared for the treadmill and starting to workout on my new Wii Fit.
  6. Hi Chantel and welcome to LBT! You probably won't find an answer here on the blogs as this place doesn't get as much visibility as the Forum. Go to the 'Forum' tab at the top here and click, then down to 'Doctors and Hospitals' and 'Insurance and Financing' and break your question into two parts and 'Post a new Thread' (at the top of each of these) with your questions. There are people all over the world here so hopefully you'll get an answer. Let me know if you need more help. Oh, and take everything to the docs, you never know what you'll need. BTW my DH grew up as a child on the same base you're on (his dad was an Army doc)...he speaks fondly of wanting to go back to visit Landstuhl someday and his parents had a great time there. Good luck! -BG

  8. DB- I'll be watching for the monthly updates! Kathi- How old do you think I am?!!! LOL!! It's a pic I found from the 50's, but you're right...prom outfits are timeless...fluff and lace and bowties are always in style.
  9. Carly- Hope you're doing well! You're on your way girl; just a few short weeks! -BG
  10. hope2bthinr- Welcome to LBT! Too healthy...yep, been there, I even passed the sleep study. Good luck to you...and I hope you failed your test! If not, keep plugging along. There's many here who took years to get through this so keep up the good fight! Look at me...I'm finally a bander! -BG
  11. I had a great busy weekend. DS1’s Prom was on Saturday. It’s a mixed blessing to see your kids growing into adults…you’re so proud of them, and yet you’re sad that you’ve lost that small child that was so dependent on you. I missed not helping to pick out the outfit like the ‘great prom dress hunt’ DD and I enjoyed 4 years ago. It’s different with boys…he took his date to the tux shop and she helped him select something complimentary to her dress. For his first dance I’d gone with him to pick out the flowers, but this year he went with a group of his friends to the florist, and he did a great job (and he bought me a beautiful flower arrangement for Mother’s Day). It’s hard sometimes watching them become independent adults. We had fun watching him getting ready (I did get to help with a little hair gel-40-50 mph winds) and then meeting at a friend’s home with about a dozen couples going for pictures. We took pics for about an hour and then off they went to dinner and then the ‘Grand March’ (televised march of each couple being introduced under an arch, indoors because of the wind) before boarding the buses for prom. He had a blast! *Pic attached minus faces, since I don't have their permission. Mother’s Day was wonderful! We cleaned out our small pond/waterfall I built out back…my least favorite job of the year (involves netting the 2 dozen goldfish, emptying the pond and waterfall, cleaning all the muck, repotting all the stinky pond plants, and then putting it all back…a huge job), so it was great to have help. We actually started this Sat. and didn’t finish until Sunday. The kids pitched in Sunday on planting all the flats of annuals I’d bought too…another big job. It was the best Mother’s Day gift of all to have them all happily helping with something I usually have to do on my own. We finished early afternoon and then the kids took me to a movie matinee, Star Trek (BTW it was a great movie, we all loved it). I did splurge with some refried beans/salsa DD made me for dinner (mushies-a day ½ earlier than I should have). I can tell you that although my band is wide open I either ate them too fast or too much because I definitely got that ‘hurt’ feeling in my chest that I had right after surgery. It was a good reminder to take things slowly and measure everything. I go to the doc tomorrow morning for my post-op visit and to get cleared for mushies for the next 3 weeks. It was the perfect weekend!
  12. Well said, and very profound! Hope you had a great day! -BG
  13. You're doing GREAT! Wow...what a quick weight loss. I'm only down 10 pounds in almost 3 weeks, so feel good about your loss! Such a great story about your new pup!
  14. Great attitude DB! It's great to feel happy about WL for once. Happy Bandaversary!
  15. Happy Mother's Day all you wonderful moms out there! This is the gift I'm hoping for...a completely waterproof room I can just hose down...because there's nothing like a plastic covered sofa to relax on in the summertime (make mine the kitchen please...and that drain better have a garbage disposal on it)...just read... they're now available! Yes we are! OK, but I at least want the Wonder Woman headband and the wrist cuffs...and maybe that Lasso of Truth would come in handy.
  16. I took a laxative 2 days post surgery, they said this was fine as long as you're getting in the required fluids. It got everything moving including the gas, and I only took one dose. Good luck.

  18. Go somewhere different and chose a new birthday meal (so what if you have to bring half of it home). Or buy yourself something that celebrates your new hobbies..some new walking shoes (you'll need a new pair each year if you walk a lot), or something fun for the yard, or something that makes yard work easier for you...some new gardening tools, a hammock, or some new interesting plants (it's a good month to plant). Happy early birthday! -BG
  19. Thanks for posting this. It's certainly good to be aware that we're all more inclined to have transfer addictions now...I just hope mine becomes exercise (never going to happen LOL).
  20. Congratulations on your banding and the amazing weight loss. Sounds like things went very smoothly.
  21. Excellent! I'm sure it makes you less anxious to know that you've got the best! Less than a month to go!!! Have a great weekend. -BG
  22. I'm officially a cheater. I'd been having so many energy level problems (shaky, light headed) on my very restrictive post-op phase 1 diet (3 weeks of clear SF liquids and skim milk only), tracking 400-500 cals per day. I called and got permission to add protein drinks, but I am cheating and adding a little strained soup for a few more calories. I was still light headed this morning, but this is the first day I've felt almost normal so far. I go in Tues. for my post-op c/u, and will start my 3 weeks of mushies then...can't wait! First fill is still 4 weeks away!
  23. Good Morning! I'm 215 today...3 pound loss. This is a good lesson about being in 'starvation mode' for everyone. I've been tracking calories and it's been 400-500 cals. per day (I'm still on my mostly clears liquid post-op diet). My weight loss has come to a screeching halt. So when you get discouraged with your weight loss on this journey, just remember that eating too low of calories can bring your metabolism to a halt as your body conserves the energy it has. I've seen many posts on LBT where people want to jump start their weight loss and cut back to 800 or so calories a day and their WL stops instead...something to keep in mind for the years ahead.
