  1. Sorry. I guess I misread!! Have they checked your band and port to make sure there is nothing wrong there? I just can't believe you don't have restriction yet unless there is something wrong with it. I have only had one fill, same size and probably type band, and I could barely eat two ounces of meat and some green beans when we went to dinner last night. I had to cut the filet in teeny tiny pieces. It took me forever to eat a small amt and still I left the place feeling like I either was stuck or over ate. I went and bought those papaya enzymes! Have you seriously discussed it with your Dr?
  2. I asked about that, "just a sip to get the taste out", and I was told to swish and spit it out!!
  3. Why would you need more restriction if you are throwing up already?? I have never thrown up, have had 1 fill, and feel I have enough restriction. Are you sure you are not just eating too much out of habit? I know sometimes if it's in front of me, when I eat out, I tend to eat more than I should.
  4. It's important you see your Dr. for a complete checkup as soon as you can. Your symptoms could indicate problems not related to your band that should not be neglected. Best wishes to you
  5. My Dr is giving me a needle in case of an emergency when I travel to West Africa in April. I just don't know if I could use it. I have to get detailed instructions from him next visit.
  6. I had my first fill Tues. and I am hoping it loosens up a bit. I cannot hardly eat. I feel the tightness in my chest with everything. I tried to eat chicken salad today, tiny bites, and it took me about 45 minutes to eat 1/4 cup. I guess this is how we are supposed to eat though!! I just wasn't expecting such restriction with the first fill. I won't complain much because I am self pay and would be bankrupt if I already had paid for 4!!!!!!!!! I hope you get good restriction with the 4th. I think my Dr. is very good at giving fills.
  7. Congrats! I had my first fill yesterday and I sure am glad they find it first with ultrasound! I feel for you!
  8. I have to wonder if this post was for real. Think about it. Unless she is super woman with a stomach of steel, she surely would have nearly died after eating that burger two days post op. The gas alone it would have produced would have certainly been dreadful enough to mention in her post. Maybe, but I have my doubts.
  9. I asked and my Dr said I absolutely would not have any problem flying all the way to Africa. I'm wondering though. Heis sending a ki with me in case of an emergency while I'm there in April. I haven't asked him yet what I'm supposed to do with it LOL!!!
  10. That's huge!! Especially the amt of inches to drop that many sizes!! Hit those thrift stores or ebay! You deserve a new wardrobe!! Don't they have a lapbanders clothing exchange somewhere too?
  11. Yes, it's part of the routine and for that much money it should be!! I would not want it done without numbing.
  12. I still had restriction when I got my first fill today. I was told that I got the small band. I know he usually puts a very small amt of fill in when he places it (forgot to ask), but I also wondered if maybe it was the band size.
  13. Oh yeah. he said I got 3.5 cc and I have the small lapband (10 cc). He said they come in size small and large.
  14. My first fill went well too. The water gulping while he did the fill was unexpected. And, it felt weird when it got to the full point and backed up. I liked that way of doing it. It seems like it was just right. The Dr did the fill. An assistant found the port on the screen and cleaned the area and I think put the pain med in. After the Dr got the needle in the port, I stood up and started drinking while he inserted the saline. Now I stay on liquids today and mushy food tomorrow and hopefully have good restriction! He said to go back in 6-8 weeks. I made an app for 7 weeks. He said I will be down 10-12 pounds when I return. Isn't he the positive thinker!! I sure hope he's right. I'm going to do my part.
  15. I got my first today as well!! Not bad. I got 3.5 cc's in the small (10 cc) lapband. Did you guys stand for your fill and drink water while he was doing it? That's how mine was done and then when I felt it coming back, he withdrew a bit. I have to be on liquids today and soft foods tomorrow. He told me to come back in 6-8 weeks. I made an app for 7 weeks. He said I should be down 10-12 pounds when I return. I hope he's right!!!
  16. I'm getting my first one too!!
  17. colon cleansers work best for me
  18. No water at bedtime either? I don't have acid reflux, but feel phlegm in my throat at night. And, I don't want a stretched esophagus. I just have a difficult time not drinking water!
  19. Mine always hurts, but it was even worse for a couple weeks after surgery. I was told that it often happens and it's not the gas!!!!! It does go away after the first few weeks.
  20. I get that way sometimes too. I also get a lot of phlegm when I lay down or at least that is what it feels like but it won't come up.
  21. Sounds good!! And I guess you still have no problems with it? My first is Tuesday! I still get full really fast and don't eat very much or get hungry very often. Occasionally I have a day that my appetite is more, but I never get hunger pains....ever!! I have to ask questions on Tuesday because I still don't know what size band I have or how much fill he put in when he did the surgery!!
  22. I believe it's totally true about the low carb diet. I followed the atkins diet for 5 years and rarely ate carbs. I would not even eat fruit to any extent. After 5 yrs, I decided it could not be healthy and I changed my diet to include lots of fruits and vegetables and whole grains. I never ate processed foods or sugar. My weight started going up and so did my Cholesterol and triglycerides. When I was living on on Protein in the form of eggs, meat, poultry, fish, butter, oils, cheese and small amts of veggies everything stayed normal. I never ate anything "low fat" because low fat in a bottle usually = higher sugar, higher carb. I ate plenty of chesseburgers without the bun!! I still don't think that can be healthy long term and now I am trying to stick more to poultry and fish and very lean filets (which is probably all we can eat anyway!) My point is my body cannot tolerate whole grains!
  23. vitaminshoppe.com has the citrate. The carbonate are bad for us banded people.
