  1. I've spoken at a dozen or more of them. Every group is different regarding what they want to know. I usually just tell briefly about my experience and then let them ask questions. Good luck. I'm sure you'll be great! Congrats on your success, BTW!
  2. Yep, potassium and water. Be careful with bananas tho, I know a lot of bandsters that can't eat them.....including myself!
  3. If I drink alcohol I don't lose weight. And you should know better than to drink anything carbonated. You're just asking for trouble! Have you been going to your doctor regularly? Monthly follow up for the first 2 years is the key to success. Your doctor can't help you if you don't go to him and tell him everything you're experiencing.
  4. Thank You. I have no doubt that every one of you can be just as successful!
  5. You're too tight. Go get a little removed!
  6. I know another one that's not listed. You can eat as much of anything you want. You just have to do it naked in front of a full length mirror!
  7. Name, real or screen~Cindy Age~51 Weight on June1st~182 Goal Weight for June 29th~178 Exercise Goal for June~To get some! Dietary Goal for June~To not do anything stupid! Personal Goal for June~To get the attic cleaned! Date Banded~6/10/8 Total Weight Loss Since Banding~142#
  8. I agree for the most part; however, any relationship that changes because of my lap band probably wasn't a relationship worth having anyway!
  9. That's what we're here for, Rose!
  10. There's nothing bitter about that. It's only sweet! Congrats! Now go shopping!!!
  11. You haven't been to the doctor in 5 months? You need to go and discuss the issues you're having and get a fill....or maybe an unfill. If it's too tight you're not going to lose any weight either. Lap band requires consistent follow up.
  12. Just because you didn't go to the doctor for weight related issues, they still weighed you didn't they? How long have you been with your pcp? If it's as substantial amount of time, I'm sure he would be willing to write whatever you need him too. If you are having trouble getting a response from doctor's office I would just show up there and say "hey, I need some answers!" Either that or find a new doctor!
  13. Motrin is probably the best choice.
  14. Good Luck. We're all pulling for you!!
  15. My doctor says its fine to eat and drink before. Liquids for 12-24 hours after.
  16. I'm pretty sure that we are ALL emotional eaters!!
  17. Protein deficiencies can most definitely cause headaches! Tylenol is alot worse than ibuprofen. Acetaminophen cause cause kidney damage.
  18. Welcome. There's a lot of good information here. I suggest you read through some of the older posts. If you have questions feel free to ask us. Good luck on your journey.
  19. It amazes me that any doctor would put fluid in the band immediately after surgery. The body needs time to heal first. My doctor won't do a fill until 8 weeks post op. He also requires a 4 week (post op) liquid diet. 2 weeks of clear followed by 2 weeks of full. I have discovered here that doctors do so many things differently. I guess that's why its called "practicing" medicine!
  20. Actually, Sterling Hts is a hop, skip and a jump from me. I go there alot. My favorite shoe store is in Lakeside Mall! What size is she? I think I still have some scrubs.
  21. Honestly, I think that GB is too drastic with such a small amount of weight to lose. Your psych said you might be bi-polar. Have you been put on any meds to control it? Did they mention that you may have OCD? I really think that you need to get your mental health under control with an accurate diagnosis, therapy and the proper meds before you make such a life altering decision. Once you get that under control, maybe you can get the band to work for you.
  22. I wish I had seen this sooner. I had a yard sale last month and had tons of fat clothes including scrubs. I posted on here if anyone wanted them and then donated them all to the local charity. I do live in Michigan but nowhere near St. Helen, I'm NE of Detroit. If I happen to find any more around here I will hold onto them and let you know.
  23. Go to a chiropractor and have him adjust your upper back. Contrary to popular belief, the "cracking" sound you hear is NOT bones. It's the sound of gas being released from your joints. I went every 2-3 days after surgery and you would be amazed at the relief I got from it.
