Another NSV
This weekend I went out and hit some garage sales looking for things for my son's new apartment. I saw this very cute denim skirt. It was a size 10. Knowing that I could never wear it I bought it for my daughter....it was only a quarter. I brought it home and, just for $hits and giggles I thought I would try it on and see how close I was to it fitting. I just went from 14 to 12 a couple weeks ago...in fact some 12's still don't fit. Well guess what? That's right...THE DARN THING FIT! Seriously???? Me!?? A 10???? Me who was a 28 just 3 years ago???? Sorry, Kid. Mom's keeping this one!!

how long were you in the hospital? out of work?
Surgery was at 8 am Tuesday. Went home at Noon Wednesday. Had a very physical job that I returned to the following Monday. I went back on "light duty" which meant 25lb lifting restriction for the first week. Could have done my job just fine from the beginning but my co-workers wouldn't let me!

Lap Band not installed!
I would not go back to him. I would find a new doctor. I just checked out your doctor and found that he has 15 patients registered here. 8 are pre op. Of the 7 that are post op only 1 has had success plus he has only been doing bariatric surgery for about 2 years.

So am I just being too picky with these darn protein shakes?
All of the premade ones are nasty. I just mix protein powder with carnation instant breakfast. I have also found that the straight whey doesn't dissolve very well so I get the whey/soy combo.

CONFLICTED...My Lap Band Story...
OMG, that's horrible. My heart goes out to your friend and to you. I'm sure you've been told a million times that your friend's accident was not your fault. Would she want you to pass on this possible opportunity or would she want you to go ahead? My guess is she would want what's best for you. If this doctor determines that he can do the surgery I say you should do it. Do it for yourself and do it for your friend. Maybe your success would make her accident and condition not be in vain.

Bruises
Some supplements (fish oil and ginkgo) have blood thinning properties that can cause you to bruise more easily. steroids cause the skin to thin making it bruise more easily, not just pills & injections but also topicals. Are you using anything like Cortisone, Hydrocortisone or Prednisone for anything? Easy bruising can also be a sign of diabetes.

Inches gone but no weight loss, how can this be?
Be happy with the NSV's. The scale will catch up eventually!

Arms aka Bat Wings :(
Oh, Honey, you think your arms are bad...just wait til you get a load of your thighs after you lose the majority of your weight! Unfortunately, insurance isn't going to pay for either one! Discomfort or not it won't be deemed a medical necessity. They will pay for your stomach because you can get yeast infections under that skin. The best thing you can do is try to tone them the best you can and drink lots of water. It helps the skin's elasticity.

Hair Loss
Biotin and protein aren't going to hurt and might even help a little but the hair loss is the body' s reaction to the rapid weight loss. There isn't really much you can do about it. The good news is its not falling out, its only breaking. It will grow back.

survived weekend away!
Diet ocean spray only has 5 calories per 8 ounces! I mix it with vodka. Never tried adding OJ. Hmmmmm.......,...may just have to try that!

just a small town girl
Welcome, Tori, and good luck.

survived weekend away!
Good for you. You need to allow yourself a little indulgence once in a while. And yes.....shopping counts as exercise!

Twoderville!!!
It has to do with the first digit in your weight. Onederland=the 100's, Twoderville=the 200's. I've never seen anyone use Threetoncity. I would assume it would be the 300's but I don't like it because of the "ton" in the middle! Sounds degrading to me.

NSV
I had my surgery in June of 2008. My son left for college shortly thereafter so he wasn't around to watch me shrink. When he came home for Christmas that year I had lost about 75 pounds. I went to pick him up at the airport. When he came through the gate and saw me his expression spoke volumes. He ran over to me and picked me up and spun me around (he would have broke his back 6 months earlier..lol) and said "Holy Crap, Mom! You told me you lost weight but I had no idea!" It brought tears to my eyes. There's no better feeling than that of pride from your child!

First Lap Band Fill - Inquiring Minds...
It's your first fill so you probably won't feel much difference.
-
Feeling like a complete failure!
Sounds like your doctor is an a$$. Just keep doing what you feel is right and the weight will keep coming off. Who cares if someone else loses it at a different rate? Don't let his attitude stop you from succeeding or from going for your fills. And (I can't believe I'm about to say this) listen to your husband!
-
How much cc's was you fill for those who have lost more then 100 pounds?
My last fill was also .2cc. It made all the difference in the world. I went from a very long plateau to losing about 12 pounds in 3 months. When you consider that .2cc=4 drops that really is amazing!!

Physical Activities
No, your band is well protected inside your body. There is no normal activity that should damage it.
