  1. My period never affected my weight loss but, boy, did my weight loss affect my periods!! They got so screwed up that I ended up having to have Endometrial Ablation to get them to stop. I haven't had one now for over 2 years.
  2. That's why I make it a rule to NEVER eat at work! I just take protein shakes with me.
  3. Thanks, Cat. With the small amount you have to lose and the good start you have, I'm sure you'll be at goal before you know it!
  4. Really? I'll have to feel around for it!
  5. So, I've had my band for over 3 years. (1149 days to be exact!) For the past 2 years I've been able to run my finger over my port and feel it through my skin. I never really gave it much thought but it always seemed to be smooth. Monday night I was laying on my back in bed watching TV and reached down there to scratch an itch and felt my port. It was different somehow. It seemed to have a divot in the middle. I was slightly concerned that maybe something had happened to it so Tuesday morning I called the Lapband nurse and told her. She said "There is a divot in it. The doctor has to hit the divot with the needle when he adjusts the band." Seriously? All this time and I never noticed that? The only thing that makes any sense to me is that I have lost another 12-15 pounds in the last couple months and maybe that last little bit of fat on top of it is gone. Who knew?
  6. LMAO. Too funny!!!
  7. Eventually, it will fall through. It will hurt like heck until it does tho. In the future, if you really want bread, toast it first. It goes down much easier that way. I stay away from all things white...bread, pasta, rice....Life is much easier that way!
  8. Without a doubt, I would do it again!
  9. Excellent comparison! Good luck on both of your new journeys. I'm sure you will make them successful!
  10. Wow, really? I can maybe see it if you were over 500 pounds but you're only 273 pounds! That's nuts. I would look for a different doctor.
  11. OMG, that's crazy! They did a pregnancy test at the hospital before surgery and it was negative? Are you sure on the math? Get yourself to both doctors immediately. I hope everything turns out well for you. G_d works in mysterious ways! Congrats!
  12. That depends on your doctor. Some doctors have a prefill diet. Mine does not. I can eat anything I want before a fill. Just have to stay on liquids 12-24 hours after.
  13. I had to do 4 weeks of liquids post op. 2 weeks clear followed by 2 weeks full. I honestly had no problem with it. The worst thing about it was the horrible taste in my mouth and the bad breath that I'm sure accompanied it.
  14. And don't forget to throw some ankle weights on under your jeans!
  15. ^What she said! If your coworker were to do damage you would be S.O.L., possibly for the rest of your life. Don't let some untrained, inexperienced person do what chiropractors spend 7 years learning.
  16. I can't really help you since my form of birth control is called "being over 50." I just wanted to give you a well deserved LOL. ^That's funny!
  17. My doctor asks me how much I want and then puts that amount in. Sometimes he tries to change my mind but, ultimately his theory is that I know my body better than he does. Not real far from Buffalo if you cut through Canada. He's in Port Huron, MI. Don't know if he takes other patients but you can try. The number is 810-989-3328. Ext. 2 will get you to the nurse. She can tell you.
  18. Actually, there's no need to go over it with your doctor. The rule is this--if it's scored it can be crushed or cut. If's it coated it cannot. Capsules can be opened and just the inside taken, although it usually tastes horrible.
  19. I had my TT 2 years ago. I also had 10 pounds removed. Since then, in addition to that 10 I've lost 20 more. I have absolutely no loose skin down there. I plan on losing another 15-20 and have no reason to think I will sag again. Just make sure that as soon as you are released to exercise afterward, that you start doing crunches to help keep it tight.
  20. Have you decided on a bariatric doctor yet? You should probably start there. His office will be able to tell you exactly what your insurance's criteria is. Some companies require a 6-12 month supervised diet. If you've been going to your PCP for any length of time he should be able to help you bypass that. He knows your history. Especially if you saw him during that 60 pound loss before your pregnancy. With a BMI of 38 you shouldn't need co-morbidities. Those are usually required if your BMI is under 35. If you haven't decided on a doctor go to the main page here. Scroll down to Find a Surgeon. Click on your state and scroll to your city. They should all be listed there. Good Luck.
  21. I can control it too. Can even do it on demand! LOL. I was out to dinner with my best friend one night and she accidentally let out a little one. She got sort of embarrassed and said oops. I asked her what the heck that was and she it was a burp. I said if your gonna do it, do it right and let out a monster just as she took a drink. It shot out her nose!! Was priceless!! Get used to it. They aren't going anywhere!!
  22. Welcome to Onderland, Kelly, and Happy Bandiversary (a day early).
  23. You don't need a swift kick. What you need is to take a deep breath, put your priorities in order and set up a list of rules for yourself that you can follow. You already have all the information you need to succeed. You know what you have to do. Now it's time to put it into action. From your picture I see you have a little one. You have to tend to his needs but not to the extent that you ignore your own. Make yourself and your weight loss your number one priority. If some counseling would help GO GET IT! Talk to your lapband doctor or his staff. Set up a little reward schedule for every 10 or 20 pounds you lose. Get your kids involved. "Help Mommy lose 20 pounds and we'll all go to the zoo!" Do whatever it takes. You've come this far. You've been through all of the pre-op stuff, the research, the expense, the time, the surgery. You didn't do all of that so you could fail. You can do this. I know you can or you wouldn't be here. Good luck. We're all here if you need us.
  24. Good luck. I hope everything works out for you and I'm sorry about the problems you've had. By your screen name I am assuming that you are a nurse. You certainly know that Celebrex is an NSAID and you should not be taking it as a lapband patient. I understand that Bursitis is very painful and you needed to relieve the pain. Did you try Cortisone injections? Again, I wish you luck and hope you are able to find success in your journey.
