Canadian Challange
oh CRAP!!! Mr. Yoda just read my personal challenge/goals for Aug and HE said that "chips" also includes "cheezies & ringolos". Of course, I beg to differ.....Mr Yoda just said, "My own council I shall keep"....(drats to him!) WHAT DO YOU THINK???? is it the same as chips? *sigh* ahhhh, never mind....if I'm completely honest with myself I KNOW that "chips" includes those things. Okay....I will amend my #1 to include cheezies and ringolos. Okay, now I've made an almost next to impossible challenge for myself. ssssssh don't tell Mr Yoda...but that means cupcakes are okay!!!! hehehehe.

Banded over a year and having trouble!!
if you are unsure kim...ask Nisrine. Do a list of questions for her...and then call up (or e-mail her) and ask.
-
Hey JUDE048!
Nothing else helps much with PCOS people to lose weight....so banding is a last ditch effort. It seems to have worked with others who have PCOS.
-
i threw up cottage cheese
Be careful tho Kim...do what TLBC tells you...NOT what other ppl's docs told THEM. I agree with Loriely...TLBC also told me I could have chicken breast (nothing on it other than spices)...for the first week of my 2 week pre-op diet. Check with Nisrine.

Yes, call them if you are unsure, Kim. I'd recommend staying away from pop (even diet)...just stick to your crystal light. Also, make sure you don't eat it fast...take your time...let it fill you up.

Un Fricking Belivable Mr Bigglesworth
Yes, I realize all that Donna, and it has already been explained to Kim about the liver etc and what the diet is for. However, I was responding to her question about the yougurt/cot. cheese versus the chocolate bar having the same amount of calories....so I told her that IN THIS CASE it was about the fat content versus the caloric content. Nothing I said goes against what you said. I was banded by the same docs as she will be banded by, had the same pre-op requirements and she will have the same post-op requirements. So, I feel confident in discussing with her the things that our pre and post operative care personnel tell us. In no way did I insinuate that calories weren't important....I was responding to her query about chocolate versus the yougurt for the pre-op diet as well as to her query about how much of the cott. cheese/yog. she can have. I am in a position to respond to that specific query, given the fact we share the same docs. Just wanted to clarify that I did not state otherwise wrt this caloric/fat issue; I'm quite well aware of the scientific processes behind the whole matter.

Banded over a year and having trouble!!
Just to take the opposing view....diet pop isn't sugary and so it isn't drinking empty calories....there are ZERO cals in my diet pop. Also, I have to respectfully disagree...not all doctors say that carbonation is bad. Yes, non diet drinks (ie. not diet coke) is bad and they will agree to that (empty calorie thing) but docs do not agree about the issue of carbonation at all. All in all, studies have not supported the "stretch the pouch theory" based on carbonation. BUT, that being said...absolutely, do what is best for you. Naturally, if you chose to not drink it...that is great...for others, they may choose not to drink it because it feels icky but for others, there are no bad feelings with it....I just want to ensure ppl hear both sides.

Un Fricking Belivable Mr Bigglesworth
Kim...LOL you have to stop posting the same post in more than one thread!!! I responded to in the other thread you put this post. The pre-op diet isn't so much about calories as it is about the amount of fat.

Banded over a year and having trouble!!
KIM>..if you do a search for the topic of pop/soda or carbonated beverages you will see several threads come up that you can review. There is lots of info on this site wrt that exact question and you can glean everyone's opinion on the matter. Some docs say carbonation is okay; others don't. (even at TLBC, the docs are split on this). In my opinion, it comes down to whether or not you can tolerate it. I love my caffeine free diet pepsi and gave it up for about 3 mos. But, I'm finding I can tolerate it fine....so I have a sip here and there. I normally ingest about 2-3 cans a week when all the sips are combined (whereas before it was 4-5 cans a day). I am a wee bit north of you (Barrie area)
