I'm lucky enough to have one of those too...supportive in ALL things! So...what was your original goal that the doc thought was unrealistic? Do tell....was it higher or lower than 150?

  5. 4 weeks??? That is ridiculous!!! More like 4-7 days!!! Back to work after only one week after Roux N Y???? I never heard that!! Are you sure you don't have them mixed up? People I know who had gastric bypass were off work 6 weeks!
  6. I like THAT idea!
  7. Hey Buffie.... My doc (TLBC in Toronto) says basically the same as what Cloe said....but that you can start on solid food the next day (as tolerated). Bring a bottle of Water and make sure after you get your fill that you are able to drink it before leaving. You should be able to drink the whole bottle in about 20 mins. I also have the midband....my doc (Joffe and Yau) said that with the midbands, he gives everyone 5ccs for their first fill unless they are already feeling some restriction; if so he gives them 4 or 4.5 ccs. Make sure that, after putting the fill in, the doc takes it back out again to make sure there is no blood in the syringe....that way he/she will know for sure that she "got it" and isn't merely squirting the saline somewhere other than your port. That happened to me and for the first 6 weeks, they all though I had 7 ccs (I had 5 the first fill and 2 a week later) when, in fact, I only had 2 ccs because the first 5 didn't actually go IN!!! Very frustrating indeed.....so be sure to check! Good luck. Like Cloe, I'm also interested as to why your family doc is doing it.
  8. The first 4=5 days are the hardest...HANG IN THERE!! Your body is going thro withdrawal from carbs (seriously)....so you will feel like this. But I promise, it will pass and the second week will be better. At least it was for me. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Take one minute at a time if you have to....don't look at how long you have to do it for; it is too daunting! Good luck! (it will be sooo worth it in the long run in so many ways: easier surgical procedure, better recovery, easier time eating small after you recupe etc etc)
  9. For me it came down to one simple thing (besides the major complications that can occur with RNY and the malnutrition etc)....and that was death rates. For me personally, it was a no brainer and the band was the way to go. There is nooooooo way I'm leaving the love of my life as a result of RNY death. Sorry to be blunt but that was my personal experience. I do realize everyone has to do what is right for them...this was right for me. Either way, good luck!
  10. Yep, I have the midband and for the midbands the doc always starts at 5ccs for everyone! No worries!
  11. LMAO!!! Okay, now THAT was funny!!! Thank you!
  12. I agree with Cloe. WTG Buffie!!!! Hey, it's a first step...a start!!! (pppsssst. was your personal trainer cute?) LOL (if a male!).
  13. Yes I do Mandi. I've never heard that you shouldn't and I've done a lot of research on it. Mind you, it doesn't mean I'm "right"...only that I haven't seen anything on that. I take all my vits (as well as prescription med) together in the morning when I wake up. Except I also take a calcium (with D) at evening as well. Cloe....what my husband and I do...is once a week (turns out to be Sats) we fill up our "week" pill boxes (ie. one lil' compartment for each day) with all of our pills (Vitamins and prescription). We each have an am and a pm pill compartment thingy. That way it isn't a big deal....in the am and pm, we just dump them out and take 'em.
  14. Paul....I don't think a cigarette will suffice: here's a great big cigar!!! LOL
  15. Hey...nice to hear from the April bandits! Congrats to everyone...in the whole scheme of things, I think we are all doing well! I do have restriction now....so they mystery of the "feeling" has been solved for me! I'm likely not at my sweet spot or anything but at least I have some which is good for now. My next fill the Doc wants to do in the hospital (as opposed to his clinic) under xray (fluro) and that will be in late Aug (if I need it). I'm still trying to figure this all out. I "think" I'm eating the right amounts....I usually stop when I should...but I don't know if that is because I'm actually feeling full or satiated OR if it is out of incredible FEAR of eating too much and having a PB or something worse (I'm still a virgin in that territory!). Good luck all.....
  16. CanadaSunshine.... I echo was Cloe said....keep on truckin'!!! (Argon, that was TRUCKIN'....)
  17. Re. the calcium......the one thing I do know about it (as Leila said) is that it is true your body can't handle more than a particular amount at a time...so taking more does nothing (& you end up spending more $$ than you have to) unless you split it up am and pm...in which case it can then utilize all you give to it. I may be mistaken, but I believe this amount is 600-700 (not 500 mg). Your body should also have about 1200-1400 mg of calcium a day...sometimes this is difficult to get by food (in my case anyways). So, I take one 650 mg tablet in the am and another in the pm. Also, I always buy my calcium tablets to include the Vitamin D. Other than that, I'm not familiar with the other things Leila discussed.
  18. every little bit counts Mandi....wtg!!!! :clap2:
  19. LOL, ya beat me to it Teresita...that is exactly what I was gonna tell Paul...to cut 'em into rings... anyone for a game of "toss the onion ring"? Paul??? LOL Oh sure Mandi.....suuuuuuuure!
  20. Soooooo.....shall I ask if your ticker is changing today mandi??? Or do I need a face guard?? LOL
  21. That's it for me for this thread....I can NOT take parasites or even the mere thought of them being in "me" or anyone for that matter. So, rather than give myself nightmares now (oooh, to late!!!) I will have to cease from viewing this thread any further. I know my limits. I am freakishly freaky about parasites and bugs in beds etc.....so, YODA HAS LEFT THIS THREAD!!!!! *gag*
  22. HOLY MOLY!!!! WTG!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  23. OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWD MANDI!!! That is soooooooooooooooo BEYOND GROSS...and of course, being the morbidly curious person I am I just HAD to check that site out. BIG MISTAKE!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa....I couldn't just take your word for it, noooooo I had to go & see for myself. Your warning does NOT quite cover it!!! THAT IS FREAKIN' FREAKIN' BEYOND DISGUSTING!!!! Seriously folks....do NOT look at this site unless you want to possibly induce the dry heaves!!! I actually had bile come up my throat and lets just say it is damn good my stomach isn't holding much right now or I would have spewed on the screen!!!! On a more serious note, I'm thinking that "stuff" should NOT come out of you. I think he shat out his freakin' intestines or inner bodily "gunk" that is supposed to be there. THAT IS NOT NATURAL to come out!!! Why would you WANT that out? Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, no thank you. Just keep that inside where it belongs; it should never see the light of day. Either that or he had a freakin' alien inside and he just keeps on giving birth to its offspring. Thanks for um....sharing Mandi. *thinking she better get that job soon*
  24. Cloe....I used to take about a dozen different Vitamins but I've cut down for now! LOL. So right now, I take a Calcium ( and a Multivitamin (I cut both in half and take 1/2 in am and 1/2 in pm). I also take a 81 mg aspirin every day (they are teeny anyways) and I take 4 other medecine type pills....all small enough to swallow whole. I've been told that if a pill is dime size or smaller....you should have no trouble swallowing it. I'll try my multi and calcium soon without cutting it in half.
  25. I agree with Argon....Cloe you baaad girl *hands soap to Cloe*. *innocent grin*
