  1. I"m glad u are feeling better now Cloe!!! Oh I hear ya maaaaaan.....the best on my plate is the FIRST thing that reaches my mouth!!!! BTW, How's the lambin' goin'?
  2. Nope he isn't at TLBC.....the ones there are Drs. Joffe and Yau.
  3. Yes, because I do have a direct line to God's ear, doncha know!!!
  4. Don't worry about the McD's episode Neenagh. Better you do it NOW than after you are banded and healing when it could be very harmful (looks at KIM!!!). So, don't fret about it.....you'll be fine after you've had the surgery...you'll do great, I know it!!!!!
  5. LOL @ Cloe. Yeah Neenagh....are we gonna have to pump your stomach for kiddie bits?!!
  6. Hi fellow April Bandits.... I thought I would share my progress with ya. I had a fill on Fri (under fluroscope this time). Everything (port wise etc) is fine. I got 2 more ccs; for a total of 7 in my Midband. I definitely have restriction now; I will keep my fingers crossed that it is the sweet spot! Even though I had my surgery 21 Apr, I count my "stats" from 7 Apr (which is when I started my pre-op diet). So, in 20 weeks: Pounds Lost: 44 Inches Lost: 26.75(this is a total of measuring chest, waist, hips, right thigh, right calf, right bicep) BMI: went from 45.5 to 38 I am now "only" obese and not "extremely obese!!! A nice side effect.....Mr Yoda (who is not banded) has lost 25 lbs and 16 inches over the last 20 weeks!!!! Overall, I am please....it averages to 2.2 lbs a week and I can't complain about that. I do work out like a demon (90 mins 4-5 times a week) so I'm surprised I don't lose more...but that has always been the case with me, despite my workouts (I believe it is related to the PCOS). Everyone keep up the GREAT WORK!!! Soon we'll be in an April Bandits September thread! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
  7. It doesn't mean you will fail. If you think you will, then you will. Pick yourself up, dust off and start again. Don't beat yourself up over it. And, yes, as Cloe said...eat more but NOT burgers/popcorn etc (make that a one time mistake)....you can't be eating that at this stage of your healing. Just eat(drink) more full fluids or move on to the mushies. You WILL be able to eat it later once you have restriction (but not THAT much of it...or trust me you will be in a world of pain). Bettina also had good advice....we all crave....but just wait a few mins, do something else and it will normally go away. oh yeah...and stop goin' to movies!! LOL. Seriously thou Kim...don't beat yourself up...but you have also got to be wise about this whole thing..kay? You CAN do it......you know you can.
  8. Sorry I can't help Cloe. Did you post your query on the general site? There might be more hits there. Also, I would recommend you call your Dr.s office (Marie?) and inquire. Keep an eye!

  10. Yeah, I got a lot done this weekend too! No time to relax at all! I have a couple of hours now to do just that, so I am off to do so....then another work week *sigh*. I have a dr. appt tomorrow with the specialist doc who recommended me for this surgery....I can't wait to see him and tell him THANK YOU and tell him "so far, so good". So, yesterday was my weekly weigh in day (and monthly measurement day). Here is an update on my progress (which is also what I'll tell that doc; I actually have a printout all ready for him!). Even though I had my surgery 21 Apr, I count my "stats" from 7 Apr (which is when I started my pre-op diet). So, in 20 weeks: Lost: 44 lbs Lost: 26.75 inches (this is a total of measuring chest, waist, hips, right thigh, right calf, right bicep) BMI: went from 45.5 to 38 I am now "only" obese and not "extremely obese!!! A nice side effect.....Mr Yoda (who is not banded) has lost 25 lbs and 16 inches over the last 20 weeks!!!! I'm happy!
  11. Wheezy: take it easy when you are back at work...and...try and enjoy your first week back!! I hope the complication wasn't serious. Mandi: why can't you guys move into the apartment that Lauren is getting? (or is it a smaller one?). I looooove Newf dogs but yeah....it will be hard on the dog being home alone all day. I hope she figures it out; either way she shouldn't rush into it. That is kewl and so great that you are enjoying your job!!! Stop doing so well or your gonna make the others look bad! LOL. Didn't take you long to pick it up, so that is good! BTW, I didn't mean to make you feel self-consious; I was just joshin' with ya!! I liked the zit poppin' photo!!! I realllly like this one too....you are very very VERY pretty!!! :hippie: :hippie:
  12. I ditto that....welcome Andree....good luck in your quest!
  13. Alright fellow CANUCKS..... Breakfast: Ensure with benefibre and Protein powder Lunch: 3 teeny cubes of cheese, 4 crackers (veg. thins), 1/4 cup yougurt mixed with 1 tbsp granola Snack: one cookie Supper: BBQ chicken patty, 3 nacho chips with salsa, light sour creme and cheese Don't forget I just had a fill 3 days ago!
  14. Hmmmm well I did have "chips" (ie. pringles) 3 times in August...*sigh* (only a wee bit though). And I have 2-3 more lbs to lose to meet my Aug weight goal of an 8 lb loss. I don't weigh again until Sat (2 Sep) so I will give myself until then. maybe with my new fill I just might be able to make it. Yeah, I can't "forbid" myself any foods for any future challenges....I hate being "deprived" of anything even if I'm the one saying I want to be deprived...it makes it so much worse for me. Who knows, I may not have had any chips at all if I hadn't have made it a big deal...ya know? So, future challenges will not involve deprivation for me!! LOL. Good habits yes.....absolutely. all in all...not bad....course I'll be happier if I meet my weight goal next Sat! Good luck all.....keep at it; you got a whole week left!
  15. You are soooo very welcome Jeangab! Really glad u liked everything; I had so much fun picking it all out!! I'm glad you received everything okay. Don't be a stranger on here!!!! Hope you had a nice trip to Mexico!!!
  16. Here is a website for one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) shopping centre in Toronto: http://www.shopsquareone.com/ It is only a 10-15 mins drive from Pearson Airport and I'm sure there are hotels near the mall. So you could always stay in one of those and then cab it to TLBC. Make sure you tell the cabbie to take you to TLBC via the highways and NOT thru town (or that will be a rip off)....they should take you via the 427 South to the QEW, exit at Spadina and go up that way.... Anyways, Square One Mall is HUUUUUUUGE and a wee bit better than Wallmart! I'm sorry....you prob already said and I may have missed it....but are you going to TO a day or two BEFORE your surgery to shop? (I hope it is before and not after!!).
  17. Nice new avatar Mandi. ummmmmm *squints to get a better look* are you tryin' to pop a zit???!!! :paranoid :paranoid :heh: :heh: :heh:
  18. WHAT>????? You mean, those trucks I see going down the road with slats in them where they sometimes have cows, pigs and sheep are going to a stockyard????!!! *light bulb coming on*. Mr. Yoda has always told me that they are just out having a ride in the fresh air for a change of scenery....like a special treat. I'm gonna have to have a chat with him.
  19. Hey guys..... First of all: Cloe at a loss for words!!!???? I guess hell froze over, too huh??! Wheezy: the "special circumstances" were that every time I've gone for a fill (3 or 4 times) it has been VERY VERY difficult to get and one time they didn't get it at all....(ie. we're talking after dozens of pokes....)....so they wanted to do the next one under fluro to make sure all was well. Okay....soooooo, Mr Yoda & I get to the hospital at 9:15 for my 10:00 appt (traffic wasn't as bad as I thought....it only took us about an hour and 40 mins). Dr. J. didn't even arrive until about 10:45. By then, there were about 8 of his patients there waiting. I was the newest one....some had been banded for 3 years already! Anyways....thankfully I was the first appt. It was quick and painless and the whole thing lasted under 5 mins. I stood on a platform, lifted my shirt and a box (xray machine) was pointed at me and it put pics of my "insides" up on a monitor (which I could also see....it was REALLLLLY kewl; I could see my heart!!!! Fortunately it was beating!!...kinda freaked me out a bit too though!). So, Dr. J. pointed on the monitor and showed me where my band was and I could ever so clearly see my port (cool). I then swallowed a chalky like solution (wasn't bad...I think it was barium) it was only about 2 tbsp full (if that) and it sort of glowed as it went down, past my band, thru my stoma and into my stomach. It wasn't restricted at all; flowed right on thru likety split. So, Dr. J. decided to give me 2 ccs and he actually got my port on the first try with the needle (a welcomed first for me) squirted in 2 ccs and then I drank a teeeeensy sip of that stuff and you could see it now just slowly trickle down into my stoma. That was that. He said I would feel "tight" and to take it easy and be careful with the eating etc until I get used to it. Seriously, the whole episode was less than 5 mins! There was nothing wrong with the band or my port. All was good. If I were to choose, I would do this again...not only is the hospital much closer for me than the TLBC clinic....it just takes all the guess work out of it! I DEFINITELY feel something. Is it too much? Is it too little? Who the heck knows!!!! I have no frame of reference!!!! I just know it is is SOMETHING that I haven't felt before. I tried sipping Water all day and I could feel it go down.....I later tried some hot liquid and it seemed to go down a LOT better. I think I'm afraid to try something else....but I will eventually. Oh yeah....so I now have a total of 7 ccs. (Loriely: remember when you were there and I had to get a de-fill? I had 6 and had to go down to 5.....yet now I'm at 7!!!!). So, after the appt, we didn't want to waste a day of being in Toronto so we went to a mall and snooped around (I luckily married a guy who actually likes to shop and browse; even more than I do!!!). Mr Yoda was feeling sorry for me I think (since I had to watch him eat lunch etc) and so I got 4 really nice tops (2 Henley like and 2 button shirts) and if THAT wasn't enough we went into Roots and they have these new bags/purses in called the "Flat Line" and I LOOOOOVE them. They sit flat against your body. So he got me one of those (he doesn't flinch anymore at the fact that a Roots bag costs over $100.....I now have three!)...it isn't even that big...it is really hard to describe but suffice to say it is kkkkkkkkkkkkkewl and I love it and had no problem picking one out; I gravitated RIGHT towards it!!! So, all in all....a good day. I'm a happy camper. Tomorrow (Sat) is my weekly weigh in day, so I'm hoping to be down just having had not much to eat today!! We also take our measurements & photos once a month and tomorrow is the date for that as well. So...will let ya know the outcome. Whew this was long, eh?!!! Oh well, it is my ramblin' thread afterall!!! LOL Okay.....Yoda's Yuk-Yuk of the day: what type of jeans to ghosts wear? boooooo jeans!!! Nite all!
  20. Glad u are eating some "real" food Mandi!
  21. What I ate today: Breakfast: Protein drink Lunch: Zip Supper: Zip Night snack: 1/4 cup chicken Soup broth/ one finger lick of Peanut Butter and one finger lick of nutella! Of course I sipped on Water most of the day. Yeah yeah...as you may have surmised, I had a fill!!! LOL
  22. GRrrrrr I hate it when that happens....I just posted a long reply and it has gone to never never land.... Shall try again. Cloe: Okay, so I can assume that "lambing" means sheep giving birth, right?! LOL I wasn't sure! I thought at first that it might mean slaughtering or something!!! Really, I don't know; I have no idea how the lamb/sheep business works!!! Migawd, that is a lot of lambs/sheep....what do you do with 'em? (I'm almost afraid to ask!). Lila: when I had my surgery at TLBC, I had to stay overnight so Mr. Yoda stayed at a hotel right around the corner from TLBC. No worthwhile malls around there except for the Eaton's Centre (about a 10 min cab ride). I think there is a Winners on Spadina....sort of just south of Bloor (which is again only about 5 mins drive from TLBC)....I remember seeing it there. There are a zillion gazillion hotels around the airport and some fairly good malls not far from there either. I don't know your circumstances tho....(ie. will you have a car etc).
  23. LOL all in due time, my friend!!
  24. Yay you Cloe!! Well done. Mr Yoda is very proud!!!! :clap2: :clap2:
  25. (((((hugz))))))) Hey Jude....really sorry to hear about your mom's situation; I understand it must be very difficult on you. I agree with Cloe though; your mom is so fortunate to have you for a daughter and care giver; not every child would do that....heck, not every child is capable of that. I'm not sure I ever would be. Just know that our thoughts are with you and your mom.....take care and do what you need to do....we'll be here when you get a chance to come back.
