Stuck Feeling
Hey Loriely....perhaps you should e-mail Kathy and see what she says. Re. the popcorn thing...I can't recall where I read it...but remember reading somewhere (official) that popcorn was a really big "no-no". It didn't bother me much nor did I think much of it at the time cause I'm so not a popcorn fan!

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
That brought back a memory Wheezy....about 2 yrs ago...I pretty much did the same thing. It looked so easy when my hairdresser did it; I though....maaaan, how hard can it be? Plus we figured we would save 10 bucks for his cut (which he only got every 8 weeks or so) (WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!). So, we bought the kit (which would have paid for his haircuts for a year anyways!)....I tried it once...DISASTER. Needless to say the kit now sits in the basement somewhere not being used...and we happily go to my hairdresser. I was too appalled to tell her what we had done. And....who was I trying to save 10 bucks???? He's worth it!!! LOL

How soon before returning to work?
Everyone is different and needs varying amounts of recuperating depending on how you react to surgery (any type of surgery) and the anesthetic. I assume you have a non physically demanding job (ie. desk job)? If so, you may be ok to go back on Mon but you certainly won't feel like yourself. I took 10 days off....but that is because I could and I just wanted a lot of extra time (& also didn't tell anyone and didn't want them to notice anything was up). Could I have gone back sooner? Sure. Did I want to? Nope.....so am happy I took lots of time off.

Needing Some Advice------i Have To Lie About My Surgery Is That Terrible?
You absolutely do NOT have to tell them. It doesn't mean you are "lying". In ANY professional job...you are not obligated to tell the "why" of needing any type of sick leave (it is NOBODY's business if you choose for it not to be). Just tell them you are having a medical procedure. End of story. Of course, they will ask if it is serious (cause they will likely be worried) and you can say "no". If they incessantly bug you and you feel required to tell them something; merely tell them it is to have a hiatal hernia taken out (it is the same type of lap surgery with the same type and time of recuperation). Do what is RIGHT for you....regardless of what anyone else tells you or advises you.

Argon's Activities
Lila has a good point Mandi. Where were you pricing it from? Fredericton? What if you flew from Montreal? (or Halifax?). And....don't fly on a Fri/Sat/Sun cause airfare is generally more expensive then. Naaah, flight will definitely be more expensive over Xmas. Also....you may want to think about calling a travel agent (some Sears stores have 'em and they are usually good to deal with) CAA is also a good choice if you are a member there. If not..think about joining..... You can call them or drop in and see them and tell them you are looking for THE cheapest way home and what can they do for you? They have more resources at their disposal and are also sometimes aware in advance of upcoming sales......I find that I usually get a better deal this way....as I know for SURE that they've checked all avenues. As for the other dilemma...yeah, I can understand you don't want to leave Dan "alone" at Xmas and plus you want to also BE with him at Xmas. But....if you get your ticket paid for....perhaps the two of you can pool your money together (not sure how you handle your finances now....ie...together or apart)....and perhaps afford to purchase one ticket (ie. for him)? Good luck though....but don't give up.

On a happier note, here is Yoda's Yuk Yuk: Mrs. Mandi was famous for her Boston Bean Soup. When her secret was asked for, she replied that used only 239 Beans. The reporter queried, "how come only 239?" Mrs. Mandi replied, "cause one more would make it too farty."

A Canadian "NSV" Thread
Oh yeah, I forgot to say in my last there Green: Since you are starting your mushies....I thought I would share with you one of my fave "mushie" foods. Take out some Beans from a can of re-fried beans....and heat it up with some shredded cheese and then mix in some sour creme and salsa....and voila! A Protein rich, filling meal!!! For a snack, try some fat free bananna pudding with mushed up bananna in it! Have fun with this stage. caution: don't try blending a piece of pizza like Mr. Loriely!! LMAO

Green Green Green Green: DANGNABIT!!!! BUY A MEASURING TAPE!!! Look at it this way; you already have a baseline for your weight because they took it for your surgery. But if you wait too long you will NOT have a baseline for your measurements!!! The opportunity will have been lost! I'm telling you, it will make all the difference, motivation wise if you take the measurement once every month or so......DO IT NOW BEFORE YOU LOOOOOSE A WHOLE LOT!!!!!

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
No, she isn't a life long best bud or anything. And yes....she is wrapped up in herself. Mr Yoda teases me when I see her and says, "well you know you'll be on "receive" throughout the whole time"....meaning she speaks and I listen. Mr Yoda said that she may have not noticed because I was in my work uniform...which is very non-flattering to say the least. That may be partially true....but I'd like to think that she would have noticed in my face. See...the ironic thing is....after she said she lost 25 lbs, I would have loved to have said, "hey, that is great....I lost 48 lbs"....but I didn't for two reasons: 1. if she didn't already notice and I told her she would be thinking to herself, "really, gee I don't see it" and 2. she might think "holy crap...she HAD 48 lbs to lose" when in reality I even have waaaaay more than that to lose. Plse tell me you understand!?

Argon's Activities
Hey Mandi....I'm not a mom but I agree with Cloe. It is important that you go home for Xmas now while you can. Life has a way of getting away from you and soon enough you won't be able to go home for Xmas for other reasons (ie. not related to financial)....other obligations will creep up. So....yeah....if you can't afford it and they can and they offer....take it....it's important to them. As for the issue of you "not noticing" ya....tis called body morphic disorder (or somethin' like that!!) (maybe it is dismorphic)!! You get my meaning!

Well, nobody called me afterwards but I knew that I could call them if I was having any problems; they also knew I wouldn't be alone. You were given a sheet with THREE fill appts on it? Strange...how will they know if you need 2 or 3 and when? I was given my first fill appt the day of surgery (basically 6 weeks later)...but afterwards it depended on my unique circumstances. I'm not sure why you have to go 2 hrs early. Unless they've changed something. Certainly for your first fill...Kathy will want to talk to you to see how you are doing and weigh you on their fancy dancy scale (with the print out thing) and Melissa may ask you some questions for a study she is doing...but two hours?? Oh well.....bring a book!! LOL
